Awesome video Rick and hats off to you! I am from Quebec and I really admire your tenacity through all the bad roads here, the moskitos and black flies plus the bad weather, quite an achievement! Congrats for this great video! 👏👏👍
Hey Rick, I know this was a while back now, but I have to tell you how much I lovge these travelogues. As a fellow biker, every shot is perfect for conveying the mood of every moment. And I have a whole lotta respect for the Kwaka Concourse that took you where adventure bikes fear to tread ! Thanks, mate.
Great adventure, thanks for sharing! From the bad roads and wet rainy conditions, to having a bearing/axle mechanical, and the many many miles of beautiful scenery and history. Hope to see your next trip where ever new it takes you!
Rick, I just sat thru this entire video. I ride around the Fundy National Park where this video began. I enjoyed every second of it. Like all riders I dream of taking long trips but my health is not up to it. Every chance I get I look up videos, but I must say yours is by far the most enjoyable I have seen thus far. Thank you for sharing. I get to see places from a riders' perspective and that's great.
Just did a round trip to Mt. Washington N. H. on my Honda st1300. Drove 3250 kms in 38 hrs . But you sir are the KING!! Thanks for another excellent video !
Rick I thank God I bumped into your video, I love adventure but your zeal is on onother level, you made me feel like am in Labrador and newfoundland physically through your tour. Love your perseverance through the rough roads and unkind weather. Good job sir. ❤
WOW .... What a LONG venture ..... Some AWESOME scenery included as well !! But sir .... Your "poor bike" took a serious beating on those most northern roads in Canada !!!! You are fortunate that the bike did NOT decintergrate out from under you !!!! I did ENJOY this video, and am sending the link to a few close friends that I KNOW will surely watch & appreciate it .... THANK YOU for sharing this with us all !!
Hello Rick, I'm mostly a solo rider as well. Just got into this sport a few years ago. I watched you videos on the trip to Alaska and Deadhorse. Loved them. Good job. I am planning a trip in the near future to Deadhorse. I was told the Dalton Highway has been upgraded. Now your off to Newfoundland. Awesome. Enjoying every minute of it. Keep up the videos.
Awesome video. I was born in Newfoundland and moved to Ontario 33 years ago. I have made 2 bike trips back in the last few years. This fall will be a tour of Newbrunswick and Nova Scotia. Watching your video made me more excited to get on my bike and get riding. Enjoy your rides and be safe.
I travel just like you, alone with my tent, gear and bike and off pavement as much as possible. I have friends who hotel it everywhere but we don't do long distance trips together much because I like camping by a lake, river or in a farmers field and sometime like to take a day off in a nice location if the weather is nice. I've been riding 50 years and still liking it. You sure had your share of rain on this trip, I remember you saying you were feeling like your getting soft with old age, that is a short lived feeling because you just have to keep riding like it or not. Great adventure and video...thanks!
Rick, In this winter without an end (2017-2018) at least here in the midwest, you have inspired me. I'm going to Newfoundland this summer on the Super Tenere.... Thank you for that... And I love the shirt "the only boundaries are in your mind" and your sense of humor... rain splattered muddy road, "I'd hate to be here in bad weather." Thanks for the time and effort you've made in producing some truly inspring videos. When I view my first puffin next summer, I will think of you and thank you.
Brilliant!! Loved your film!! As a Newfoundlander (but lives in Alberta) and someone who has recently started motorcycling, it made want to set out on my own adventure. Cheers!!!!!!
Fantastic video! The bridge was neat, I got worried a bit when you got stuck by the water, good thing you were back in civilization when the front end gave out. That was definitely the bates motel... Those are some crazy miles and what a great story to tell... ride safe.
Nicely done. And I like your choice off appropriately Celtic and humorous music ("Knock it off, Willie...") I won't get to so many places so rely on such folks as you. Thanks!
Rick, I admire your work. I watched your Alaskan dalton highway, Rick’s West Trip, and now this one. Going to all these places solo, camping, making great distances, and finding a time to make all these shots is a remarkable work. Also, your movie composition, scene duration, straight comments, and scenery music are truthful and solid set documentary. You've done it all alone on the same level as British "Long Way Around" fully funded professionally produced documentary. It puzzles me why US Hollywood big shots are so lost in their fake dramatization realty show documentaries, while you as "an amateur" video traveller covered this US gap and without any intention, put a shame on all of them. Rick .. you rock!
+ricksandyfox, Don’t take me too far. I didn’t mention National Geographicyet. Only Hollywood! Hehe. I wish we rode together over Yosemite pass, when you did “Rick’s West” road trip. Since you are camping, if you put some expenses from your road trips, and duration in days, that would interesting to hear as well.
Thank you for this pictures. I did most of this route in september 2017. Few flies, it was rainy and quite cold (14 to 9 celsius). It was not rainy when I drove on dirt roads. I started from Québec City where I live. I have a BMW R1200R. I had no problems. I had a speed ticket on road 510 in the middle of nowhere, and the speed limit is 70 kmh. This is not a joke !!!
Thank you for the wonderful video, l enjoyed every seconds of it. My wife and I had all those canned food just like you on our camping trip to the Eastern Provinces back in 2014. We didn't get to go see Newfoundland and now watched your video I see what we missed. Thank you again!
Did I forget to say, thanks for your awesome video details....my trip back in the day was film developed at Wallmart....it is do great to get this refresher with most similarities as we travel, thank you, the music is awesone....ironic in 2013 I purchased a concours 1400...love it
Hey Rick as far as getting stuck riding all those terrible gravel roads, you went too far north. That is no mans land up there, true wilderness! It's a wonder they have roads up there at all. You sure have that explorer nature, I must say. All the best and stay safe!!!
I did the Trans Labrador highway a couple of times years ago when it was all gravel some areas the stone was the size of a large spud. If you like dust and potholes, freezing rain and possibly snow even in the summer feel free and take the ride. I drove a 150 miles without seeing another soul, so if you get into trouble be prepared to wait around. Its real easy to go off the road and some spots are raised 40 feet off the marsh with no guard rails. I blew 2 tires each trip, lost half the exhaust at the flange, and put a 10 inch crack in the frame of my truck. If you like white knuckle driving with plenty of danger and little to see this is the trip for you. And when you take a break the black flies drain you of your blood for good measure. To top it off fuel, food and hotels are damn expensive the farther you go north and what they call hotels won't appeal to many.
oh wow Rick I must say that I truly like your montaging skills, the way you put that video together!! nice style. You have been on some great trips eh? I watched the whole thing and I will be subscribing and watching some more from you. I initially watched it because it was about Nfld. After a few brief moments you cemented my desire to foray into NewFoundLand. It is now on my to-do list. And then while watching, I realized you went on towards Labrador. I was pleasantly surprised because a couple of years ago I went to Labrador on my XR650L and had an amazing experience. Then again while watching I see that you decided to go up to Chisassibi (did I spell it right?) and I was surprised. I guess on a Concours it's a little easier than the bikes I've been travelling on. So I found it very interesting cause two years ago I went up to James Bay on my CRF250L and I was sooo curious to see your adventure up there. Great ride, very good narration and keep going out into the world and exploring. Oh...I almost forgot to mention that I loved seeing the shots of your bike. In 1992 and 1993 I drove my burgundy '86 Concours to California. No GoPro footage though...just pictures. Take care and be safe. A toast to you from the Laurentian Mountains!! (north of Montreal)
Hello from Los Angeles! Just watched this video in its entirety. Also have watched your Alaska series. Love them both. I'm a fan of the Concours (though I've never owned one). Watched this one before what I know will be a stressful day at work. Your video has me heading off to work with a bubble of peace surrounding me. Thanks.
Thank you for this wild ,crazy but wonderful video ! I have great respect for worldly Americans. Your courage and resolve and your sense of adventure is very impressive. As a rather sedentary ,cozy southern Canadian you have opened my eyes as to how rough and harsh the landscape and life is up there for my fellow northerners...they, as you are ... a special breed. By the way , I've been to Newfoundland and the ROCK...rocks !
Hi Rick, Thanks for sharing your wonderful journey with the world! My family and I are inspired by your fantastic roadtrip to northern Canada. Coincidentally we started driving from Cary, NC and are headed to Newfoundland. Currently, we are staying with some family in Moncton, NB. We are taking the ferry tomorrow from N.sydney to Porte Aux Basque and will be spending a week on the island. We already have a plan to drive and stay in Gros Morne, St. Anthony, Twilingate, Bonavista, and St. Johns. Since you rode on a motorcycle, I am sure you were able to find some hidden gems on the island. Please let us know if there are some beautiful places we should not miss! Thanks again Rick, keep up your adventures!
It sounds like you are going to some of the best places to visit. I didn't get to see it all of course, but while you are in the St. Johns area, you might as well take your picture at Cape Spear, the easternmost point in North America. In Bonavista, drive to the lighthouse and see the puffin colony. In Gros Morne, I HIGHLY recommend a side trip (easy hike) to the boat ride at Western Brook Pond. The spectacular cliffs and waterfalls were the highlight of my entire trip. I don't think there is comparable grandeur east of the Rockies. (You can get tickets at the Pond's Visitor Center/gift shop, and not drive all the way back to Rocky Harbour like I did.) Enjoy your trip!!
I enjoyed watching your road trip. Being from Newfoundland you have showed me some places of my province I haven't seen before. Also I have a relative living in Raleigh NC. Thanks for sharing..
I enjoyed your trips Rick. My favorite is your west trip. Don't care for the washboard , pothole mud/gravel/powder roads you took up North. Me and a friend did some horrible dirt roads in South Dakota in the Badlands. It was only 24 miles and it was so bad , that is shook a couple of bulbs to failure on my Vision and my friends wheel bearing failed not 10 miles after that rough dirt and it broke his saddlebag bracket on his Harley. I know that road considerably shortened the life of his bearing. I suspect all that bad unpaved road you took prematurely killed your wheel bearing too. Anyway, thank you for sharing your trips. I'm a happy subscriber.
Hey Rick you are a brave man to drive from Red Bay, NL to Goose NL 😮 on all dirt roads. Hey it’s all pave now from Red Bay to Goose Bay,NL, it’s a nice drive now across Labrador.
Oh,What a great solo bike tour. Video has been filmed professionally, narration and and the filler songs are really nice. I am a rider and enjoy seeing tours like this. I would like to download the songs you played since I am a country song lover and liked the songs. I don't know whether I could do it. I pray to God to give you courage and protection in your future trips. God bless!
Great video! When you crossed back into the United States, I thought “it feels good to be back in America!” I felt so involved! Oh, I love the C-10. I had a ‘99 model. I kept it 8 years and put 100,000 miles on it.
Epic Trip! Well documented, good cinematography and great music. I have always liked the Concours and that will probably be my next bike. I have ridden coast to coast many times on a 1995 Triumph Trophy 1200. Similar to your Concourse, but not set up for long distance comfort like the Concourse is. Thanks for the documentary! Aloha!
Thank you for posting such an epic trip! Great riding over very tricky terrain which I would definitely bottled out of. The scale is just mind-boggling to someone who is used to the UK's roads...
Great trip! I went across Canada leaving my home in Terrace BC doing every province except PEI. I was on the the Labrador Hwy in late August. My plan was to do James Bay too to Radisson but just ran out of time. 38 day of riding. This summer I will do Radisson.. Great trip.
Impressive. I enjoyed it immensely. You made the trip (Newfoundland/Labrador/Quebec) I had intended to make before having a stroke in May 2016 which I am still working through. Thank You for posting these wonderful journeys. I still hope to at least do the Cabot Trail (Short by comparison from New Brunswick) before I go low. Be Well and Keep the Shiny Side Up.
Awesome video, thanks for sharing. In 2010 I met a man from Italy ridding a bicycle. I didn't get a close look at him because we were stopped apart from each other. sure sounds like him. That's if he went back in 2010.
Congrats on not dumping the Concours through those cringe worthy wet, muddy roads! I'm not sure I'd want to go 50miles on that, especially on my only, but very reliable bike, a 1972 Triumph Tiger. You are hard core, man. Lovely scenery when not foggy. You handled the good, the bad, and ugly with grace and a sense of adventure and humor. Now, where can I find a good used KLR 650 with knobbies.
Well done, Rick! I enjoyed watching your Alaska vids before I went there myself in 2014 on my V-Strom. It was a fantastic adventure! Now, I'm glad to see you've uploaded more trips. Nova Scotia and Newfoundland are on my list of places to ride. Thanks to you, I'm now considering the Trans Lab Hwy as well. Be safe.
have watched all 3 episodes at least 2 time each. what a epic road trip they all 3 are. I only have a Harley 883 custom so can't do it all but I am going too the Grand Canyon on it from Southern Lower Michigan. too spend at least 3 days there. and I am 62 going on 63 September 2021. keep riding on and stay safe Sir. thanks for taking us along. also what GPS did you use.?. is it a Garmin.?. I want one for my bike.
Hey Rick, great video of Newfoundland. I live in Newfoundland and enjoy travelling around this beautiful Island every chance I get. It is why I took up photography to show people this beautiful home of mine. I will have to check out some of your other videos when I get a chance. Nice selection of music by the way :)
Hi, Gord! Newfoundland is a wonderful place to ride; I have to believe it's a great place to live. I would have to have some lessons before learning to understand some of the older folks in BonaVista though... :-)
Man, this was a hell of a trip. Being born in Val-d'Or, Quebec, I am used to drive long distances. But in your case you have done a long, long trip! Brave man and thank you for the interesting video. I drive a Yamaha Tmax but I am looking forward to upgrade to a Connie.
I love your road trip videos so much! I'd love to do the same one day (Alaska is still my #1 road trip). And you get an A++ on the music you picked. :D
Inspiring trip video. Great job! A follow up video with description of all the costs for each trip would be really informative-gas, lodging, food, fares, miscellaneous. Would love to hear you comment on the trip overall. What was most memorable, challenges, disappointments, what you would do differently so on.
Kia ora! GREETINGS from New Zealand... Absolutely enjoying your travel vids... you seem to be going to all the places Id love to visit. Look forward to future road trios... maybe youll come visit NZ.
That was a fantastic trip. You probably drove past our house when you went through PEI on your way from the Confederation Bridge to Charlottetown (PEI). Newfoundland is a place I would love to visit on my bike. I thought it was too far away but now is seems very reachable. As we watched your video and saw the shaking of the handlebars my husband said " I bet his wheel bearing has gone and sure enough....... I definitely could not do all that canned food. That would kill me.
Really enjoy your vids. What a Vlog should be! About the journey more than the motorcycle. I was in Newfoundland briefly in 2017 and will be returning in 2018. Hope to come or go via the Trans Lab. Great job and more journeys to you!
Ballsy taking the Trans Lab on via Concours. I did it on my WR250R back in 2019. Not sure if I'd do it again on such a small bike. Some places it was great, others, well. It was a long time from A to B.
LOL... at least they didn't try to call it 5-Star in Ottowa. I think I stayed in the sister to that place in Anchorage, AK (downtown) once. When I went to check in, they asked me if I wanted to look at the bathroom. LOL... yeah... it was bad. A metal shower pan/stall which was nothing but rust (literally).
Awesome video!! Very well done!! Enjoyed every bit. We are heading to the Rock this summer but on 4 wheels. Who knows, we might attempt the trip on 2 wheels another time! You're surely a hardcore biker!! You are lucky the bearing issue happened in a city!
Epic journey. I don't ride but loved the scenery and the whole video What an amazing trio you took. I live in Newfoundland and do a lot of hiking here......Take care, Bluefin.
I just started watching your videos. Watched the trip out west, that was a great video, and I also watched your trip to Alaska, and so far this one is just as good. I have to stop and make a comment and ask a question. You certainly have put a lot of miles on that Connie you are riding. I am just asking myself the question, can I take my 2001 Concours out of it's parking spot and maybe put some miles on it like you have done. You have put a lot of hard miles on yours, how has it held up and has it given you much trouble, besides the front bearings? Mine has just over 20K on it and runs great. It has gone on a few hundred miles trips, what is the thing I need to do in order to get prepared for the bike to start a long trip, say 3-4 thousand miles? Great video content. Are you planning on any other trips and if so where to?
I didn't really do anything to the bike to help it last longer, except put on a headlight gravel guard. The bike was rock solid. The only changes you will need are ones for your comfort and endurance if you start on long trips. (Bars, pegs, seat, windshield, etc.) No, I have sold the bike now, and spend my free time on mountain trails and rock-crawling with a RZR.
Thought I was a biker when doing a 4 hour trip on my GL1800! You sir are a true road warrior. Helmet off to you.
Watched this numerous times. And still enjoy it every time.
My mother was born in Long Harbour, NL. Been many times to see family. I was raised in Michigan. Beautiful video. Love it. Miss it. ♥️
Just finished watching the third and final (hopefully not) video of your trips. Great videos Rick, thanks for sharing your adventures. Safe travels.
Rick - I'm heading to ride the Tans Lab loop (clockwise) in June and your video is fantastic. You are the MAN. Thanks for posting your trips.
Rick, loved this video! Thank you for showing me parts of my own country I haven’t yet seen.
Watched again on the last day of 2022. Still a great bit of video Rick. Thank you for the journey and inspiration.
Awesome video Rick and hats off to you! I am from Quebec and I really admire your tenacity through all the bad roads here, the moskitos and black flies plus the bad weather, quite an achievement! Congrats for this great video! 👏👏👍
thank you for taking the time to share that great journey!! i just cant wait to be onthe road
I'm really enjoying your videos! I like how you take that concours everywhere, even off road!
Hey Rick, I know this was a while back now, but I have to tell you how much I lovge these travelogues. As a fellow biker, every shot is perfect for conveying the mood of every moment. Great video. The music to match the region passed through puts this a notch above! Well done. Enjoyed it a lot.
Absolutely awesome video. I love your integration of music. I quite literally laughed out loud at the, “On the road again, Knock it off Willie!” part.
Rick I thank God I bumped into your video, I love adventure but your zeal is on onother level, you made me feel like am in Labrador and newfoundland physically through your tour. Love your perseverance through the rough roads and unkind weather. Good job sir. ❤

Great ride, and a wonderful trip. I rode my '97 Connie for 14 years. I loved that bike. You have some pretty incredible time on your hands!
Great footage for someone who has never driven this route!

Cool stuff! Thanks from all us Newfoundlanders!!!!!
Thanks, Marlene.I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the "Jewel of Eastern Canada"!And I liked the Fried Cod Tongues too!

Amazing, much respect, that’s what I call going the extra mile!
Another great trip. I get the pleasure you get the pain. I need some pain. Thanks again.
My Friend, I Should Said You're The Best So Far.
Hey Rick 😊
First time viewer and thanks so much for sharing your amazing adventure 👏

What a great trip! Fantastic camping spots too.
Absolutely wonderful trip! thank you Rick
Wow!!! What a great trip! Thank you so much for sharing your video. I still have to watch the Alaska trip and the Western U.S. trip!
Very tough bike and biker.!! It was not an easy trip!! Congratulation and my respect for you Rick!!
I'm a happy subscriber.
what an incredible journey, a trip of a life time
I enjoyed the ride! Excellent work and thanks for documenting. Happy riding to you.
Nice videos Rick. As my father used to say "miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles"
nice trip Newfoundland is a wonderful place
I live there
Me too
Live in nl too. But would love to visit Virginia. That place looks nice. Hmm. Bike license maybe?
Loving this, as we are from Newfoundland!! Thanks for sharing!! 🤗🤗👍👍
Awesome video, thanks for sharing. In 2010 I met a man from Italy ridding a bicycle. I didn't get a close look at him because we were stopped apart from each other. sure sounds like him. That's if he went back in 2010.
What a great adventure, It’s like I’m there with you on a place that I never haven’t been!
my wife and i are hoping to do a newfoundland motorcycle trip in 2017. looks like a great place for a ride. we will be leaving from Ottawa. ride safe.
Epic journey! Who needs an adventure bike?
Be safe.
I love your road trip videos, amazing!
have watched all 3 episodes at least 2 time each. what a epic road trip they all 3 are.
It's a wonderful place 💚
Most artistic , I have seen whole video, thanks for nice video, perfect music and naration . hope you will long trip again.
Thanks for documenting your trips ,I enjoyed watching very much.
Wow those bridges look slick! Incredible!
Great video, thanks for the comments. I want to go soon.
thanks for sharing your fantastic adventure
Thanks for posting stuff like this ... Keeps me busy in winter or when I can't ride .
Rupert Falls looks amazing.....
Great video!! I'm headed to Newfoundland this summer Starting in Western Missouri
Kia ora! GREETINGS from New Zealand... Absolutely enjoying your travel vids... you seem to be going to all the places Id love to visit. Look forward to future road trios... maybe youll come visit NZ.
Thanks, Lady Kiwi! I'm sure a trip to NZ would be at the top of most people's bucket list!
Epic stuff. One day I'll complete these trips as well. Keep living the dream.
My journey across this road way was in 1986...with my 1974 moto guzzi
I'm doing the Trans Labrador August/Sept 2018 with my cat and my 15' Boler trailer - thanks for the insight! Great vid!
Way to go, Rick. That was some intense off-roading on James Bay's coast.
Hope to see more road trips from you, mate. Cheers from Serbia.
Love the video I grew up in trinity bay nfld moved to western Canada Vancouver ,bc in 1994 I always want to go back there on my bike..
LOL... at least they didn't try to call it 5-Star in Ottowa.
You are lucky the bearing issue happened in a city!
yo - rick. what a FANTASTIC ride you have had !! i envy you. wish i was young enough to
do some of it. thanks for sharing.
Thanks, JJ!
BTW, I turned 66 last week... :-)
Man, this is the Most ive seen of Newfounland, and i live next door..... Awesome lil Villages......
