The purpose, of course, is to discredit the movement for reclamation of his birthplace. For if there is no proof of Rama and his Ayodhya, the movement falls into disrepute.
Historian Meenakshi Jain has given a robust reply to those who question the historicity of Rama as deity, and provided ample historical proof of Ayodhya as the city of Rama. She leaves no stone unturned in collating all historical and literary evidence relating to Lord Rama. In her talks she cites evidences from literature, sculpture and epigraphy to prove about the popularity of Rama since antiquity.
The question of his becoming a deity only after the publication of Ramcharit Manas in the era of the Mughal emperor Akbar, has been answered with ample evidence to discourage even the most arrogant Leftist historian from repeating old lies again.

A very convincing presentation. Dr Meenakshi Jain has written a wonderful book on he subject, "Rama and Ayodhya". Her book titled "Sati" is an eye opener. Every Indian should read these books.

Also look at Michel Danino's lecture on Ayodhya's history over the years. There are umpteen records. The issue from the archaeological site is beyond any question. Now the matter is only about the Supreme Court.
Dasaratha (Dusratta) and Ram are Anatolian/ Mittani Kings (Syrian and Iranian ). Those Aryans migrated or their descendent migrated to various countries including India. Their oral history is Ramayan but written in devanagari in India during Guptas period (400AD). Sanskrit was a Anatolian oral language that was perfected in India. The Mittani Kings (SYRIAN) List ( Sumerians chronicling their Kings read history ) includes not only Rama and Bharata, but the names of other Hindu Puranic figures find a place in the Kings List. The Names found are Indra, Pururavas , Dasaratha, Parashurama, Satyavrata, Iksvahu, Kakusha, Janaka, Vasishta, Janamejaya, Dushyanta(Father of Bharata after whom India is named as Bharatavarsha), Rishis Gautama, Dundhu,, Muchukunda, Drupada, Harischandra, Sagara,Bhagiratha, Lava, Kusha(Rama’s sons), Aja and Raghu (Rama’s ancestors), Pundarika, Subandu and so on. These are names brought from Syria ..even today the names " Kannan, subhandu, Modhy(Modi?), Adwani (Lk?)..are common names in arabic world including Syria

HISTORY CANNOT BE REWRITTEN WITH OUT EVIDENCE. Ram is a fictitious mythological character in the Hindu epic ' The Ramayana ' written by Valmiki, a murky marauder turning a poetic genius overnight. Ram and Laxman were not Dasarathas sons but illegitimate sons born out of sleeping with decioles of Kalaikottumuni and festility with Horse!!
According to the epic, Ram was the eldest son of king Dasaratha who had 60,000 wives appended to his first three senior queens Kosalya, Kaikayee and Sumitra. The old and overworked king was so impotent that he could not beget even a single child to be his heir. He became dejected in life and convened a council of his ministers and saints to find a way out of this stalemate.
First as advised by Vashista muni an ashwamedha yaga was performed and the ferocious horse was made to mount on a female horse. Alas just at the time of ejaculation by the horse, the soldiers cut the penis of the horse and the penis was given to the three queens of Dasaratha to inseminate themselves with that horse semen (artificial insemination..a well developed scientific stupidty of Hindutuva). In the morning the king offered his three wives as gifts to the three disciples of Kalaikottu Muni, namely Adhvaryu, Hota and Ugatna. The disciples enjoyed the three queens the whole night and the next day returned the transitory gifts to the king in exchange of substantial gifts of gold and cows. The queens conceived instantly and gave birth to Ram, Lakshman, Bharath and Satrugan.

Dr. Meenakshi Jain seems to have very confusing understanding of Timelines - Mahabharat timeline has been established based on 'star alignments' mentioned in that Hindustani History as 3900-3800 BC. Ramayan was written at least 5000 years earlier to Mahabharat.
