Thanks for the tour. I grew up in Gosport and left in the 70's. How it has changed! Forton lake and Priddy's hard were my play grounds. We even went cockling in the mud in those days. You cycled through some of my paper route too!
Gareth, Just watched your video and where you came out of what used to be Royal Clarence Victualing Yard, the buildings on the right where what was part of St Georges barracks. I grew up in Gosport and as did all my family and the area where you cycled is well known me although it has changed dramatically. I left the UK in 1982 and now live in Tasmania.
I moved here March 2019 and love it! Great video pre-lockdown really when you think about it... lovely area with loads to see and do... I will save this video to show my family when I now love TY x

Queen victoria used to come down on the train from london to go stay at her house on the isle of wight. Osbourne house the train line went down to stokes bay. Xx
Used to ride over the bridge when I worked at STS Defence (@ 11:15) to and from Elson where I lived. It's all changed so much now. Grew up in Gosport from 88-2009 (Brune Park till 2004...) when I moved up to North Yorkshire. Only been back since once to see family, so it's really interesting to see this. Most of that area around Heritage Way didn't exist from memory. I remember as kids we used to 'play' in the abandoned area near where Explosion is now (where the housing there is by the bridge IIRC), and one time a lad set a door on fire and half the place went up (like...2005? 06?). Would be interesting to see Elson. Getting that weird bittersweet nostalgic feeling seeing places I have some good, some bad, memories of. Like a different world

I'm ex Royal Navy and was at hms sultan in 88. Good Sunday night bop. Missed the ferry back to INTREPID but stayed with a chiefs daughter that night.😁 anyway I miss down Portsmouth and gosport as I joined the Royal Navy at 17 so grew up in the mob. This was my stomping ground and it was breat. Now 55 and I'm coming down from Glasgow this summer to visit. Really looking forward to it.

Fabulous ride around where I grew up as a nipper just after the war. Lots of changes. Where did the old Ritz cinema go !? I’m in Brockville Ontario Canada and we are in Covid lockdown too. Ah, The Ritz. It closed in the early 80s, reopened in about 86, closed for good in 99 and was demolished in 2001 and replaced with shops.
