Great video. Have a 718 GT4 and after sorting the exhaust, absolutely love it. As much as I want that GT3 engine, just can't justify 2x the price (apart from 991.1 but I don't want a PDK)
+1 = facelift with tweaks, not +1 = chassis change. Middle number change = different car. Basically that. So, 996 to 997 is a small change, then 991 is a full redesign, then changed not so much into a 992. It alternates, so you get a chassic change then the big jump. The choice of next number in the big jumps, as far as I can tell, is nonsense. We've had 991, 992, 993, 996 and 997. Next gen will probably be 994 then, since they've gone sequentially, but the one after that would have to be 998, except I vaguely recollect there's some reason they can't use 999 (not just it being the UK emergency number, which is also 112 anyway). Coxsters follow the same but with the middle number -1, so a 981 = 991 gen 911 but Coxster. 987 corresponds to 997 and 982 corresponds to 992 (982 = 718 Coxster). Oh and the Panamera aligned for one generation with the 971 (same era as 991/981) but that was it. Macan codes are basically secret for some reason, while the Cayenne ones are just unrelated (9YA or whatever).
Bought a manual 911 Turbo in 2002. Amazing car. Drove the heck out of it for 16 years. 100k+ mles. Very few issues. Water pump and some minor electrical issues.
Good video although the first Caymen GT4 suffers with a poor engine and after much research my son decided against one as the failures were quite widespread.
They’re cool to learn about but me and almost everyone else will never be able to afford one. I bought the last N/A Boxster S and love it. They make superb drivers cars. I can actually use the power my car has on the road without risk of jail or license suspension. Oh, and I can AFFORD IT!
"0-60 in 3.8 secs is not insanely quick by today's standards " Hmmm! Anything under 4.5secs will push you into your seat in a way you can't imagine. I think the difference between 3secs and 3.8 is negligible. Driving over the Rest and be Thankful in any of these magnificent cars, would be an awesome experience for any mortal. The difference I would notice, with my limited skill set, is infinitesimal. I imagine it's the same for the majority of your viewers. Give me any of them...I wouldn't care which 😂
Someone near my daily drives a Python Green 718 Spyder and it's stunning - even my Dad said it's the only car he likes more than my old 981CS, including the orange Huracan some other nutter here dailies, but that guy drives like he's in an i10, so no idea why he has that (at least rev it occasionally!). After the 992 C4S test drive, that I found mildly disappointing, I drove a G80 M3 Comp and...well it's now one of only 2 cars (after a 2020 Megane RS280) that I've stopped the test drive early because I was bored. G80 on track = probably amazing, but on a public road, it's a less refined 318d that happens to go fast, yay. I'm seriously considering another 981 😆 I have ideas though...
Cheapest Porsche, 992 GT3… I must be the most broke person on earth if that can be called cheap..

What’s cheap about any of those. 987 Cayman 2.7, 986 Boxter S, 996 Carrera is cheap.
