THE TRIBUTARY | Fly Fishing & Canyon Trekking on a Remote River in the Oregon Cascade Mountains

  • My brother Adam and I finally completed a fly fishing trip that we have been planning to do for about 15 years.
This particular section of one of our favorite tributary rivers flows through a canyon section where there are no roads or trails anywhere nearby. In the past we have bushwhacked into certain stretches of it but have never done the roadless area in its entirety.
The trip covered roughly 12-14 miles of stream wading/walking which we did over a three day stretch. Armed with backpacks, fly rods and camera equipment we set out to see what the canyon had waiting for us. Most of this section of the river flows through a designated wilderness area which was great but it did limit how I could film this episode. Specifically around drone footage.
All in all we caught a lot of fish, with a few of them being of a decent size. We slept under the stars on a small beach, heard owls in the night, slept in hammocks on one of the nights and saw some incredible sights. This is a trip that won't soon be forgotten.

So glad I found this video. Amazing score, and awesome trip. Really reminds me of home and the closeness to nature I had coming from Portland. Thank you for taking the time to capture PNW nature. (Isn't it just great in the Summer)

I thoroughly enjoyed this and smashed the like button. Vertical shorts are all the rage now on TH-cam. I HATE them! I want an immersive, cinematic experience. Thank you for providing that so wonderfully.

5:30 what you’re saying here needs to be talked about more. Nature has amazing abilities to ease and heal our minds. Been watching your channel for a little while and I love your outlook on life and nature as a whole. One of the best channels on YT

Awesome video I love exploring places like this in Oregon, using the water and the path while fly fishing. I need a smaller fly rod my 4wt is the smallest I have right now.

Thank you so much! I love fishing smaller set ups on these types of river. I brought my 1wt, but really should have been fishing my 3wt. Next time! Cheers!

Holy smokes, i can't believe you hike up all that. I know exactly where you are. Been wanting to do it for years as well, but no one to do it with. So glad that area was saved from destruction of the last few summers. sweet vid!

It was very worth it! Having done most of it over the years, we knew it was doable but yeah I recommend taking a buddy….just in case.

Hey I just watched a couple of your videos. I just wanted to say I really appreciate the work you put into them. It's hard to film and be on the move so much.
Another video I watched, you touched on the wildfire impact during your outro. I felt that. We're a lot alike. Been hitting these places since youth, and it sucks not having access to some of them still.
    Good content, I'll Subscribe.
    See ya out there someday.

Thanks man! I'm a big fan of your videos! This means a lot for you to reach out like this. You're totally right about filming yourself. It's a fun challenge, I guess.
It is super sad seeing so many amazing places burn up like they have. They'll come back, but not in my lifetime. At least I was fortunate enough to get to spend as much time on these rivers a I have. The one good takeaway is that it's forcing me to search out new water in the area, so at least there's that. Cheers!

That was a pleasure to watch. My twin and I fly fish together all the time, so this video really resonated with me. Thank you for posting!

Thank you very much! Yeah my brother and I have fished together our whole lives pretty much doing this exact thing. I wouldn't trade that for the world. Cheers!

Great trip and video! Did you use a 1WT rod?

    • @prolificnorthwest
      @prolificnorthwest  ปีที่แล้ว

Thank you so much! We had the streamer set up on a 3wt and the dry fly on the 1wt. Kind of a perfect combo, though there were a few fish that tested the capabilities of the 1wt for sure.

It really was! There were some decent fish in some the deeper pools. Can't wait to go back and do it again.
