I might be able to help put a part of the puzzle together. There is a West Coast League called the AFWC. They have like 9 teams but only 3 of them are actual league teams. Those are: Idaho Horsemen (Boise, ID) High Desert Storm (Bend, OR) Wenatchee Valley Skyhawks (Wenatchee, WA). I have a feeling the AFWC is going into the AFL. Tallahassee does have a AIFA team (Capital City Cyclones). One thing I noticed is some of these city officials and arena operators (Lake Charles, LA / Salem, OR / Cincinnati, OH) were caught off guard with the announcement.
Bakersfield, California is a GREAT sports town. Race tracks, high school, junior college and Cal State Bakersfield all draw pretty well.
Good to hear!

Ok so, for future reference, there is no Ore Gone, only Oregon.
No Jacksonville Sharks, no San Jose Saber Cats? ... then, no real AFL
Love the great coverage on the AFL, it is greatly appreciated i! I’d never been big football fan but I always enjoyed arena football crazy environment
Well, we’re hoping to talk a lot of Arena Football!
Great reporting guys. Thanks for the info!
We love keeping people up to date!
This was a surprising announcement. I'm really shocked that chose Cincinnati, Tallahassee, Lake Charles, and Bakersfield over Cleveland, Tampa Bay, New Orleans, and Los Angeles/ San Jose. Also Grand Rapids needs a pro team as well as Salt Lake City, Portland Oregon.
We’ll see how accurate the TMZ stuff is. Until it’s official I’d take those with grains of salt.
As it turns out, every city was shocked to hear that a team was coming. All of them.
@@theworldoffootballI honestly take ANYTHING from TMZ with an entire canister of salt ... they're so dumb
Lake Charles has had the most success in Louisiana in arena football
One city they need is either charlotte or Raleigh North Carolina. With the moniker the Carolina riptide.
I did predicted Philadelphia, Chicago, and Nashville. And I like the St. Louis pic because they love their football
St. Louis is definitely deserving.

Actually it's about 45 Miles south (i know because there's a sign in North Salem at the Lancaster/Portland Rd intersection coming off of Lancaster that says "Portland -> 45", so if there's any chance 20 miles would've been too far for the team to be called "Portland", then Salem is definitely too far for teams there to be called "Portland", so it'll either be called "Oregon" or "Salem" (the latter being my preference).
Tallahassee had an af2 team known as the Tallahassee Thunder
Ah you’re right! We missed that one! Good catch!
Orlando predators let’s go 🏈🏈🏈 #3701ENTPODCAST
Cincinnati also had the Jungle Kats in af2 and not just the Swarm
As long as they aren't bringing back the Minnesota Purple Rage from the original indoor football league, I'll be happy.
Really sucks Cleveland wasnt revealed initially BUT the AFL said theres more to be announced so hopefully there still in play their banners are still hanging till this day
We’d love for them to return. But barring some major unforeseen location debacle, we’ll probably have to wait til 2025 or later to get them back…if ever.
There were the Tallahassee Thunder and Jacksonville Tomcats in af2
Colorado! Let's goooo! The Crush would be awesome, but the Ice was also a name of a former arena team in the area.
And good for Everett! I use to live in Marysville, WA not too far away. Everett loved the Hawks.
You’re right, they did have the Ice, but we consider them “indoor” not “arena”. But regardless, you are correct!
why wasn't this in my notifications?
Who knows! TH-cam can be buggy sometimes.
Did not know of this until I met a man with Arena Football league today at my job in Everett, Washington. The building might host? Not sure today was first day the Man talked with GM of building I work at. I am the Security Manager for said Arena. I am hoping for this to come to my building!
Well, that’s very cool! Hopefully we’ll keep hearing from you if this all truly comes to pass!
I understand that the teams joining the Arena Football League from the National Arena League would be thye Orlando Predators and the West Texas Desert Hawks. The AFL would gain teams from the CIF. Cincinnati had another af2 team known as the Cincinnati Jungle Kats.
Hopefully we get the Sabercats sometime in the not so distant future
One can only hope! We’d love to see them return!
They need to bring back the zubaz pants from the '87 season Lol. That would be awesome and terrible at once.
They should do a throwback week or something when/if this league gets settled in. Maybe not in year one (I’m not opposed to it).
No matter the league, no matter if it's Albany, but Antonio Brown and who/whatever he's associated with should be avoided like the plague. Antonio Brown is to football, as is what Disney is to cinema.
this Is going to be SOOOO GREAT MAN I LOVE THIS LEAGUE ALREADY
We are very excited!
honestly a little disappointed with some of the locations (I was really hoping for Albany Grand Rapids Seattle and New Orleans). I think Austin, Boise , Orlando and Philly were the best decisions made here. 2 really booming areas (Austin, and Boise), as well as 2 traditional AFL franchises (assuming it's the soul and predators) that are sure to be successes. I wonder if Tallahassee will use the storm or sharks moniker (not a fan of bobcats or firecats, already too many cats nicknames in all sports).
still excited for the return of my favorite sports league though!
No Arkansas Twisters is sad
Did i read that right Kalamazoo MicHigan? (My hometown btw Go Broncos)
You read that right!
I'm holding out that California is Ontario, Ca sense Bakersfield would never have a decent crowd. It's too far in the sticks away from anything. Ontario has an airport, an arena, is driving distance for 4 major population centers(within 2 hours). It makes too much sense. Bakersfield is 2-5 hours away from any major population. It would be dumb to say the least.
Bakersfield did have an Arena team (af2) previously, so we’ll have to see if the California location TMZ reported is accurate or not.
Why does Omaha ALWAYS get overlooked in these sort of things?
Hard to say. I assume you refer to Omaha, Nebraska? In which case, you still have the Omaha Beef.
Does Salem have an arena same with Lake Charles and Bakerfield
One would assume if those are the true locations that there would be suitable sized arenas to play games.
Man bring team in ATL please
The fact that the Gladiators aren't included is a p*sser and a kick in the nuts for Cleveland fans, whose ever fault that is.
Big missed opportunity for a market that supported the AFL. Here’s hoping it’s rectified in the near future!
Well i guess Salina liberty 🗽 will have to give back the soul endzone
Hahaha these are the comments we like to see
Bummed no SaberCats
Same.
Yeah, we miss that great team.
Columbus was considered for an IFL franchise, but U guess that will not happen
Yeah, the Columbus Wild Dogs have been announced years ago, but there have been no updates on them in years. They were supposed to start play back in ‘22 or ‘23. Never materialized.
An Arizona team would be funny
I don’t know if I’d be funny…but, it would be interesting.
Colorado rush sounds better
Still prefer the Crush lol
How about Florida wolves
Seems a bit generic for my taste.
The Chicago Rush are back LFG
While that’s the heavy speculation…maybe it’ll be the Bruisers 🤷🏻♂️
West Texas Deseret Hawks
And several more have been announced since! We’re hoping to do another AFL video soon!
The Arizona Rattlers play in the Indoor Football League now and doing fine.
They do seem to be.
Definitely no Grand Rapids Rampage either.
Don’t remind us 😭
No Baltimore!? Screw this...
We know the disappointment
@theworldoffootball I was a Baltimore Brigade season ticket holder; we just renovated our arena too...
Warbirds just had the the 1 losing season before they wete winners.....
West Texas desperado
Interesting, wouldn’t hate it, but think they’ll stick with Warbirds.
The Nashville kats silhouette actually looks the old firebirds logo. Guessing they are just using old logos to get internet sleuths like you off the scent
That’s a solid guess. But yeah, we figured they were just placeholder images.
This league is already a bust. Salem but not Portland wtf
Until the league “officially” says the specific cities I wouldn’t worry. If the league didn’t specify specific cities, then maybe there’s a chance the TMZ specifics could have been premature. If they’re right, then, I’d say there has to be a plan and purpose for the choices.
very disappointed; they don't have the Cleveland gladiators in the news league. and no Arizona rattlers? They are like the kings of the AFL; come on, AFL, do better.
Well, I’d guess something happened with the Rattlers not moving over. Could be a previous contract with the IFL they can’t break. I’m sure details will leak at some point.
Who cares?
We do!
I dont get this AFL reboot. Why reinvent the wheel. If new teams want to be in a league just join the IFL. The IFL is a stable league. Sadly the NAL sounds like its going to fold at the end of the season. Also no Northeast teams in the AFL at this time.
Totally understand where you’re coming from. But, the Arena Football League is so unique from the other indoor leagues, and has a richer history, that reviving it makes some sense. Hopefully this reboot can stabilize and expand to more markets in future years!
