No matter how many times people tried to word this, they never explained it properly. This video is quick and to the point, and even the side commentary are genuine questions people face. Useful video!
For a whole frickin' year I just needed to go to motion settings and toggle on the space drag! And no one could tell me until I just found your vid! Thank you, sir! Your video was actually helpful unlike all the ones that only teach you bindings!
I was always missing that little setting in the OVR motion settings, thanks for being the one person I found who showed that. Very nice tutorial, that motion setting was all I was missing this whole time.
You should also make sure not to put playspace mover to activate on the thumbstick buttons for index, especially if you plan on using it a lot. Valve index has 2 versions of the index controllers and they haven't differentiated either of them (for some reason). If you bought the index 2-3+ years ago, you'd have the 1.0 controllers, and if you bought them within the last 1.5 years or so, you probably have the 2.0 controllers. The 1.0 controllers have extremely weak thumbstick endurance and will quickly get to a point of not working or tracking properly if you press the thumbstick buttons a lot, and the 2.0 controllers have much greater endurance, meaning you probably could use the thumbstick buttons for as long as you want without them failing during normal extended use. What I do, is I use the little touchpad to activate playspace. You have to actually apply a little pressure to the pad so just sticking your thumb on it at all times will not cause it to activate, and it'll last considerably longer since the part has less moving parts (from my understanding, it doesn't move at all, but there is haptic feedback which gives the impression it does). And then to reset your playspace, I just use the other touchpad on my other hand. And I'm sure someone is going to say "But I've been using my thumbstick buttons for years now and they aren't broken!" but it seems it is more of a flaw in the production of the controller, as I've had friends who use it every day and have for 3+ years with no issues, then I have friends who used it for 6 months and had to get the controllers replaced.
It's the first I'm hearing of this but thanks for the info. I don't even use/push in on my thumbsticks but for those who do I can see this being helpful info to know. Also thanks for the comment ^^
even after 2 years thank you so much :3 it's time for some events and my setup was broken i was since i reinstalled my windows. was trying for so long, thank you again :3
i installed smooth tracking and it reset all my ovr advanced settings , i forgot how to setup the finger tracking on index...it works in steam home all fingers track but for some reason in vrchat only my thumbs track and the rest of my fingers are stiff can you help me?
any controller/headset will work as long as it is hooked up to your pc either wired or wirelessly. Quest 2 has a couple different buttons but my tutorial will still work for you. Just follow along and you should be good.
this sounds more like a performance problem. Make sure you use the low quality mirrors when available and also adjust your safety settings to only show your friends. I have not run into someone that had performance problems due to ovr advanced settings. So I'm assuming the problem has to be with vrchat and your pc. Send me your pc specs if my advice doesn't help. It will let me know if it is hardware related or some other issue.
@@Jumper_VR I followed everything yet when I press the desired buttons I wanna use nothing works, I even held them down for it to work and moved my arms around.
@@Bluerlephants I have a quest 2 and an index the method in the tutorial works for any headset using steamvr. The only other thing I could suggest is to reinstall ovr advanced settings. Double check that you're changing the bindings for both vrchat and ovr. Also it's a good idea to save/publish them to really make sure they are applied. Then the most important thing you have to go into motion and make sure space drag is check marked or it won't work. The video has all of this in it so you can watch it again after reinstall ovr. I hope I helped a bit and good luck ^^.

Oh that last part in motion must have been what someone was leaving out when they were trying to guide me, thanks I'll give this a go!

Oh for me,ovr doesn’t work on any games☹️ it only works on steam, VR for me…☹️
that sounds like you haven't remapped the game controller bindings. You only remapped the ovr bindings.

Do we need those controllers? Or do regular quest2 controllers work?(asking for help)

How do I drag myself through walls writh the play space mover?
When I go in and click ovr settings in the menu bar, it doesn’t load and quits?
id suggest reinstall it at that point or go into the settings while in the steamvr home instead of running vrchat.
thank you so much. my issue was it wasnt toggled on smmh lol.
I got the play space but when i go infront of mirrors in vrchat it lags me sooo bad how do i fix this??

With quest link or virtual desktop
Straight forward and to the point. Thanks!

For some reason my vrchat threw steam is hella lagging
Omg thank you so much u helped me so much

Whatever game you are running. You have to make sure you set the bindings. Also run ovr advanced settings after you've booted up your game.
it still doesn't work I don't know why
I’m knowing what to do in pcvr, but don’t even got a pc for my vr 😭
thanks this was very helpfull!😀 It just took me a bit to follow along because im dumb💀 lol thx m8

THANK YOU
To the point. Thank you
Can i have a play Space mover with oculus quest 2 ???
Yes as long as the quest 2 is using airlink or oculus link. Basically you have to be using steamvr on your pc.
Thanks so much
It’s still not working
can you explain in a bit more detail what you've done and what's not working?
