- In the celestial expanse, I beheld a star,
A luminary with a tail, traversing afar.
Beneath its glow, a throng gazed in awe,
Witnessing rarity, a celestial law.
Drawing near, I asked of the gathering's gaze,
"What celestial wonder earns your amazed praise?"
In unison they spoke of Lanrewaju's grace,
A divine gift from Nigeria's sacred space.
A once-a-century soul, a celestial decree,
Sent to Earth, a rare marvel to see.
Protected by God, his message divine,
Any hindrance met fate's firm design.
Death claims the herald, the dawn's clarion call,
The one who echoed Ooduwa's daily thrall.
A custodian of our cultural essence,
A beacon of truth, a luminary presence.
"The prophet lacks honor in his own land,"
So true for Lanrewaju, a tree so grand.
Its shade spans wide, yet often unseen,
His Ewi poetics paint an Eldorado dream.
Echoes of his foresight, his poignant cries,
Lament Nigeria's plight, the impoverished ties.
The warnings he wove, stark and true,
Yet where is Lanrewaju? The questions ensue.
Nigeria mourns, a gem now astray,
A loss profound, felt in each passing day.
A treasure rare, in temporal stride,
To rekindle, in a century's tide.
Lanrewaju, messenger of divine word,
Admonished leaders, the corrupt, the absurd.
He praised the righteous, upheld the just,
His legacy woven in faith and trust.
May Allah bless Chief Lanrewaju's repose,
In gardens lush, where celestial rivers flow.
A paradise earned, his spirit aglow,
Rest eternal in divine embrace, bestowed.

Baba was nothing but an enigma. I still remember those days of attending his lectures at UMB like yesterday. May Allah forgive him and grant him Al-jannah firdaos.
Rest in peace our unrivalled King of Yoruba Metaphysical Poetry (Ewi). How we wish this day never came but ko si ma ku. As you famously sang "Eni ba so Omo ni ariku yeri, ara e lo tan je". You will never be forgotten in the folklore of Yoruba language and cultural emancipation. You did more than your bit. I cherish our friendship and our phone dialogues and work together very much. Your legacy lives-on forever. We shall continue to work to keep your genre of music alive through your beloved son Adejare Olanrewaju Adepoju as a loving and befitting memory of your unparalleled legacy. May Allah grant you Aljanat Firdaus, Baba wa Akanmu.

I drew so much inspiration from the works of this great man. As a 7-year-old boy when Pakute Olohun was released, I could render it from A-Z and understood the message clearly. People would call me from everywhere in my neighborhood to render the poetic song. I always find Baba's work unimaginably original that I would not believe anyone was equal to him in this line though someone told me there was a man called Opadotun I have never had an opportunity to explore his works, therefore in poetic arts Olanrewaju was my GOAT and will probably remain so because I still find flaws works of modern-day poets. I pray that Allah rest the soul of Baba Adepoju and be with all he left behind.

Olarewaju Adepoju was king of ewi exponent . He was among the very few yoruba musical legends I listened to their songs . REST IN PEACE
Through his immensely deep thought, Olanrewaju Adepoju fashioned an era of poetic interventions in honour of valour and in acerbic thrashing of diverse human foibles. He was the conscientious poet, moral compass of the Yoruba race, a true raconteur of a golden era. Adieu great poet.

Baba is collosus. HE has lived a life that left his footprints on the sand of time. BABA was sent a prophet to the entire World. Baba did well. Baba came as a gallant performer. Baba fought the battle of life and HE conquered. Baba is a Philosopher, Historian and Archiologist/Teacher. Africa do not value their own when they are alive until their own die. Baba's departure to Al-JANA will leave an unfill VACUUM. HIS place in the local, state and nation affairs will be felt.
