Yeah, no issue with red as a tactic, my issue comes from the consistent match ups against it if you create a certain deck. It minimises the pool you can pick from when playing which is a bummer, the best thing about Arena compared to table top was meant to be the variety you can play. With all that said if you want to be competitive in any form of ranked play anywhere in the world you better be able to handle mono red agro, this has always been the case.
I swear to G red players' brain when they see a Monstrous Rage in their hand just goes full-on Monkey With Cymbals mode and casts it immediately. They can't help themselves
07:11 If Legend adds music to the video, you know that something great is coming! Love your content, not only for the excellent commentary (especially regarding the reason you cut off Rotpriest from a poison deck), but also for such fun edits, only to entertain your audience!
I've found the Bant version to be more consistent. Serum Snare and Machine Over Matter provide plenty of interaction, and you can usually cast Machine for one mana with Skrelv, a mite token, or Annex Sentry out. You also get access to Experimental Augury for additional card draw.
@@BobbyHop-fp4vg This is the current iteration. please play around with more poison options! I think UW poison control might have a chance. edit: I say this because the biggest hurdle for poison decks seems to be connecting the Toxic creatures. getting to just proliferate and use that one pump spell that gives extra toxic + flying could be a major difference, and there's also Bring The Ending for a nice counterspell.
You should consider reducing Myrrex and Seedcore to x3 each to add x2 Fountainport. Using it to draw / create token is extremelly powerful when running Caretaker's Talent.
The fish do not have toxic, and it costs one life. Might not seem like much, but in this meta it can change the game. Especially considering the hive is also costing life. Mirrex just seems to fit better.
26 lands for such a low curve? It's a relief to see people treating mana with due respect, but a bit surprising... planning on long games and leveling up the Talents, plus the occasional big Sun, perhaps? Tho I think I'm gonna cut a land for a Patchwork Banner, which should be particularly good here Edit: Nevermind, you just explained it at the beginning :D
So I've been toying around with a simic poison deck that uses the rot priest as well as mocking bird. You also run the one mana otter with prowess as its adventure can target X creatures you control giving you additional triggers. You also run the instant from thunder junction that targets two creatures, making one target creature become a copy of the other. So far I've managed somewhat consistently to win at turn 4 - 5 with poison this way however the deck completely folds to any interaction sadly
End of match 3 you went to -5 so if you blocked with both 3/3 lifelinkers you could’ve lived. I’ve seen it go negative but then lifelink happens and the game doesn’t end.
No. Legend dropped the ball in this one tbh. He has 10 cards that aren't applying poison one way or another. 6 should be the max. 4 virtues go a LONG way against mono red and clearing your way for your cheap creatures. 2 soul partitions are great for tempo plays vs midrange and blockers early game. After that its literally just proliferates till you win. Whisper of the dross and drown in icor are literally game winning. Never dead draws as you can kill your own creatures for the cheeky win. Drown in icor is goated in this meta. Takes care of mouse AND sheoldred/biza. Since it becomes a 0/1 they are faced with a loose loose situation defending vs 1/1s. Your card draw engine should be infectious inquiry. The ONLY deck caretakers wins against over balls to the wall poison is vs discard. And only IF you don't have skrelvs hive online. Discard hard looses to the value it provides. Also yeah venerated rot priest still goated. You literally dont care about protection spells. All that matters is the first poison counter from them trying to kill him or from him attacking. Then you just proliferate to victory. Whisper of the dross is also really good combo with rot priest. As you get 2 poison counters. And again, its a loose loose situation, as they will have to target rot priest so the proliferate doesn't go off...which activates rot priests ability
Why no Skrelv? It's brutal with jawbone dualist and can blanks removal, I'd think you'd want to cut a few copies of rats and crawling choruses to play a few copies.
Doesn't play very well in a more controlling plan and it doesn't help block vs red aggro. Could definitely see it as part of a sideboard plan where we try to protect Duelist to steal a quick win vs decks that focus too much on beating our late game.
I don't understand the "Corrupted" effect on Anoint with Affliction. Doesn't it just do the default ability? 1:27 I see: the card is poorly written, the ability poorly worded.
Cant say this deck has worked out for me. It kinda realies on just having caretaker's talent and Skrelv's Hive to win. If you are missing one of them, you kinda dont have any good options. Too mnay games with Caretaker's talent and no real good way to draw off it without a Skrelv's Hive.

Not your best tbh. Virtue of persistence already wins you the red matchup and clears way early for first poison damage. Literally never get to seven mana because the game is already decided by then. The lil life gain goes a LONG way to out race your opponent. Like....... literally run all pain lands bec life is never a problem. Getting the right spells cast is. Drown in icor is goated. Basically already sheoldred/beza removal as it puts opponents in a loose loose situation blocking a a 1/1 with toxic with a 0/1. Jawbone duelist and caretakers provide a lot of value but too slow tbh. You rather want another 1 drop (sklev) and infectious inquiry to get poison going so you can proliferate your way to victory. Also forgot about vraskas fall. Anoint with affliction is literally a dead draw in control matchups. Ive won games just after having to resort to vraskas fall on an empy board to get first poison after they kill all my creatures. And with so much removal vraskas fall almost always hits their lone problem creature White suns twiligt is dead draw early and win more late. By turn 7 any other removal with proliferate or poison card you rip off the top should win you the game at that time. Without risk of opponent just sweeping you back.
