Wow that was actually much easier than i thought. I've seen a lot of youtubers basically disassemble the controller to get to the joysticks but this was so helpful. Thanks

Dude just saved my favorite controller I burned the 1st board up but the other 3 are good as new now highly recommend practicing on one of your old ones first before doing to repair on your favorite

could i just heat up the solder points and use a qtip or toothpick to remove it?

Would I need to calibrate the analog stick after the replacement

I know this is an old comment but for anyone curious in case your replacement analogs don't have calibration holes in potentiometers there are special "drift fix" boards sold on aliexpress that let you do that. They are soldered on the opposite side of the circuit board and analogs.

He skipped that part. There’s no way of knowing if he got the X Y axis centered or not. I guess that was just a fair weather friend. Lol

If you are lucky it should be easy, if you are unlucky you keep the trigger uncalibrated because there is no way to calibrate it permanently

That is so epic and also I have a controller that has a bad stick drift and I have the repair kit for my Xbox series s controller and I have taking apart and followed the steps and everything.
And dust blow them good and it still has it badly so I need the part itself replaced so I can be able to use it again

All you need is desolder pump

This wasn't easy for ME 😠. After sucking as much solder as I could, it STILL didn't want to come apart.
Are you saying the trick is to add more solder first, then suck?
I used the sucking want like you showed at the end.

It‘s nowhere near that easy. It took me and my very skilled soldering friend like 4 hours and it was not at all easy. Would not recommend you try this unless you really know what you’re doing

I can't imagine why you would enlist a second person for this job.
In any case, this is exactly the type of repair to try if you've never done this type of work before; the stakes are so low, you're only risking an already broken controller.

There is two motherboard types and this one in the video is the easier but the other have smaller through holes that a lot of people say are harder to get the solder out of @@jayjayhooksch1

4 hours!!! Your friend is not that skilled if it took that long!

I did these when I was 12 no where near 4 hours
