Some of the best home stills I have ever seen and Mike is truly a great guy and has the customer as his number one priority. Do yourself a favor and get one
I have a few questions about the bronze rings. First of all, is there any actual brass inside the column, where it touches the alcohol? If no, then I don't need to know the metals used to make the brass. Very often, brass has lead in it. Commercial bronze is 90% copper and 10% zinc. I'm hoping this what your brass is. All of the others contain lead, zinc, nickel, bismuth and even arsenic.
For something that's 'professionally built' you would think that the solder joints would look better. I wonder if people have leak problems with the way those joints look. 3:21, 3:37, 6:13, not trying to be nitpicky but at the prices charged you wouldn't think that they would let joints looking like that out of the shop.
How much that thing cost, 5, 6k ?? And what ABV u get out of it, bout the same as my $200 "littlebob" I bet ... Definitely beautifully made but mate, what a waste of time and money
Is it a good unit? Does it produce 95 percent? I built a 60 inch x 2 inch column with a 12 inch cooler column. It is like a Fractionating style still. The still is mounted to a 13 gallon beer keg. The cooler column itself is a 12 inch long 3/8 inch copper tube. I boil around 74 degrees to 84 degrees (the temperature controls itself) for 5 to 6 hours and produce about 13 pints of 95 percent ethanol. Some of it is put through a carbon filter at about 2 pints per hour, and the rest is drunk as is. Does my still do a great job? It has been doing a magnificent job for 8 years now, and it does not miss a beat. Oh I nearly forgot, what did my gear cost? Wait for it... It cost me $80 Australian. Cheers.

So there is no way to disable the column to clean?
