the funniest/weirdest thing for me was that when melbourne play at the mcg the ground looks so empty but for some reason when they played the eagles way more people went.
the umpiring for the hawks v cats game was shocking, not saying we played any better but these umpires were shocking and mitch lewis getting hit high in a marking contest and the ump not paying it was the boiling point of watching that shocker on the weekend and the fact he did his acl has probs ruined our season now
With regards Mihochek’s mark on the goal line. I’ve heard commentary that he had at least one hand on the ball at all times and since one handed marks are paid is not this a variation?
Great vid as always Bull! Mihocek mark/ non mark ARC decision- they didn’t pay a mark, they had insufficient evidence to overturn the on field decision. Subtle but key difference I reckon.
4:08 - how about the trip that wasn't called on Florent? You mention it in your sanctions but make no mention of the fact the umpire missed a pretty devastating lapse in judgement. I'd say this is equally "odd". An absolute goliath oversight, mate ;-)
11:45 they replayed this from behind Rohan shortly after and he does manage to get a legal handball away. Still should've been ball considering how long he had it, but the handball was there
Sorry but you missed an amazing opportunity to show Harris Andrews' deliberate intent to take it out in the 4th quarter v Crows. You could have shown it directly after Daicos getting pinged for the exact same thing. Harris even goes for the handball then doesn't then makes a b-line for the boundary. The umpiring is only getting worse as they add more rules in.
Not a Port supporter but Connor Rozee want b getting held when the ball came out. It was dropped bcos of the tackle but Bont has let go before Rozee dropped it. I agree with the umpires but I'd have no issue if it'd gone the other way.
Oddity for next week, with around a minute to go in the 2nd quater of the Firday night game Collingwood kick a Behind but on the Channel 7 graphic showed Geelong getting the behind only for the mistake to be corected 10 seconds later. (Don't know if the mistake showed up on the Fox coverage)
0:49 the fact that they won buy like 2 points. 5:59 When I watched the game live I believe they said something along the lines of "There is insufficient evidence to see whether the ball was marked over the line, decision on scoreboard" and they gave it umpires call 7:40 If you watch it slowly, it actually looks like it moves as it passes the post 12:29 There's still a hand on him when he starts to drop the ball Marshall's unlucky bounce was also a bit of an oddity
For the Aliir Aliir one I was there and an umpire somewhere DEFINITELY blew the whistle. Like everyone in my row and area was going what was the first whistle for. So Aliir was playing the whistle for sure because a whistle was blown only for the umpire to change their mind. That’s why Ollie Wines - who is the most fair player on Port and rarely gets riled up, was actually having a go at the umpire like he did, something he genuinely never does in games from what I’ve seen.
That was a goliath of a vid. Keep them up. I've always been appalled at the lack of holding the ball, incorrect disposal, and holding the man calls made these days in the name of a flowing game. Most games I watch these days I have absolutely no idea wtf is going on with half the calls.
Crazy how big Harry from Carlton fully turned it around but so many other forwards - max king, ugle hagan etc are having shockers and receive no media backlash
Forgot about the bounce in the saints goal square towards the end of the game, I think about 1 :30 left and it went along the boundary line and stayed in play
I thought the karma of the St Kilda bounce ending in a goal, and then in the 4th it ending up not even going over the line was a fun oddity. Not often you get same game karma.
The Rohan one they actually showed another angle where he got the handball off so it wasn’t incorrect disposal. I still reckon holding the ball should’ve been played earlier though
11:30 Bont didn't stick the tackle, by the time the ball spills free, Rozee isn't being tackled any more. Not sure I agree with the call but that's surely the ump's logic.
Bonts tackle slips off Rozee before ball hits the ground. The tackle didn't stick for long enough on it's own either. Think the umpire said he didn't have control/impede Rozee with the tackle.
Our game would be so much better if were changed to remove the grey judgement calls. 1) last touch out of bounds 2) it's a mark regardless of whether it's controlled before going over the line or its never a mark over the line
CALEB!! You have got to mention this next week as one you might have missed.. wasnt exactly a thrilling game so easily missed but oh my god. 10 minutes to go the game is at a lull so everyone is kind of paying attention and there is not much pressure on the ball. Richmond vs dockers. The ball gets kicked into dockers 50 and it’s an absolute SITTER!! Walter’s goes up and takes a fresh airy (doesn’t even touch it)with NO ONE ON HIM!!! Me and the family had to replay it 3 times laughing no offence to the veteran and am not having a crack. Can you please check it out and chuck it in the next vid thanks. You can even hear the crowd simaltanously sigh 😅😅😅. Like subscribed
what about the torp from toby pink over the top to get a goal in norths victory over the suns (early stages of the game 1/2 way through the first quearter)
"umpiring is the best its ever been" (two umpires watching a player get injured behind play via front high bump and a strike, doesnt pay frees for either)
The Rankine Andrews one is great. Possibly why Rankine was so keen to keen to deal some out. But that's not this video Defensive play of the year. Right there with Chapmans spoil back into play for the win and Doedee's scorpion kick spoil Poor runner got deer in the headlights and made about the worst decision he could make. Feel for him because Kingsley is a scary looking man. Real disapproving girlfriends dad vibes Should have been a free there. Not sure if Toby got a fine but it goes to show the Toby tax is not as simple as umps pick on him. I can't think of many players that get a fine when they deserve more than him and it being "technically not against the rules" as often as him. Those sternum wacks take the wind out of you It's pretty line ball on the Darcey call. I wouldn't have paid it because he never is really in control. Play to the whistle boys Great save there. Not quite a contender though Chaos theory at work In danger seems to have gone out the window over a while. That will be the next crack down? If it goes out on the full, I'm not hating the call. Though I've said it for ages the insufficient intent needs to be adjudicated on how close a team mate is if it's rolling out and travelled some distance That hurts That's unfortunate for Collingwood but a perfect sequence. You must get to the mark and given Langdon was so far past the mark there's little else to be done That's splitting hairs. Technically a point but it wasn't an obvious enough juggle to overturn. No love lost here Sometimes you just have to know when you're beat Perfectly executed. Love it The high on Cheezel cancelled the one that came next. Footy karma Every time there is a line call like this I stand back and just trust boundary umps. Our angle is not in line with the boundary line. Ump is in the prime seat. Still going to be a gun but he needs to get that fixed Clear aim for the boundary. In a spoil, it's different. It's not in dispute and a great call from Keays. Get him a yellow top That's a great mark. Elliot has it covered but only visually (which unfortunately counts a lot towards the award) Kozzy lost that in the sun. I'd love a falcon compilation with "doink" sound effects at seasons end It's not an outright SHOVE. But it's definitely a push in the back even with the modern interpretation I think it's a mark. But it's borderline. Umps call is the right call Not just honesty. I think there is that you need to zone up and if you just say it, you don't need to run back and set up only to turn around and go back "Which Brownlow hope do we give it to?!". He was 4 or more steps in. Free all day Holding. New or old interpretation It was a bounce! Obviously a free. It's close to needing a bounce for Christ sake. Now pay it constantly (at least once in the Adelaide game there should have been one too) Oops. Stand Keane Should have been paid the free. Hard to see it. No biggie Right call. It's just life You're probably right but the defenders are close enough that it's not embarrassing He put his head on his hand. Not a hand on the head. Poor form. Out of bounds? See my other point Goliath
The Alia penalty: AFL umpires routinely penalise players who don't read the umpires mind 'ahead of the whistle' eg: dodgy mark probably touched , player who catches the ball ( no whistle) is tackled or impeded - 50 meters. Player catches a 7-metre kick ( no whistle ), gets tackled or impeded: 50 metres. Alia anticipates a holding-the-ball, doesn't read the umpires mind telepathically, gets penalised. Umpire management is very, very bad.
I was there an umpire blew the whistle for sure - that’s why he stopped. You can’t hear the whistle on the footage but there were other people around me that heard it too and thought the second one was for 50m penalty since he continued after the whistle. Genuinely, I don’t think it was the main umpire but there was a whistle after the first one before Aliir stopped.
i disagree that rowan gave away a holding the ball ability to pass and control over the ball are not the same thing. granted its this isnt written into the rules but from what i can see as a player and a watcher the umpires tend to call frees based on a how long they had it and b if they could pass it in the short time they did have it rowan in that clip never had any time where he had either a leg or second hand available to actually pass it off thus no prior oppotunity to pass and imo correctly called. like i say its prior oppotunity to pass not gained control over the ball that we use to call holding the ball
I'll correct that for you "Rankine sees an opponent who has been harassing him all quarter running directly towards him and so tries to create space off the stoppage with a regulation hip and shoulder. Makes the error of not noticing that Starcevitch isn't looking where he's running and so an unfortunate head clash occurs, injuring both players." You're welcome.
people forget they put another umpire on the field to help ref the game and they still cant get it right? Where are they standing when these wrong calls are made is the question straight after a failed holding the Ball ?
Sydney don't get free kicks against them there was also the Heaney incident.Thats 2 goals Sydney got from lack of blatant frees. Free kick count saints 11 Syd 19 says it all AFL love them
HI Mr Holding the Bull, I am from the AFL Umpiring Department. Could you please PM me, as we would like to get you in for a training seminar with our senior field umpires.
I disagree with Mihocek one, like what the commentators were saying you can take a one handed mark, and the umpire called a mark, and they ruled the footage was insufficient, so umpires call
So as long as the ball is touching one hand then its a mark becuase you can make a one handed mark? Give me a break. It was clearly bot controlled until after the line. If it was then he wouldnt have needed his second hand to do what....control it maybe?
the umpires were trying to get sydney the win all day heeney kicked both goals off stupid umpire decisions and they kicked another 2 or 3 from bs calls
My favourite part is the runner giving away a 50
That part was pretty funny😂
Same
i didnt know that was possible but ill take it
the funniest/weirdest thing for me was that when melbourne play at the mcg the ground looks so empty but for some reason when they played the eagles way more people went.
the umpiring for the hawks v cats game was shocking, not saying we played any better but these umpires were shocking and mitch lewis getting hit high in a marking contest and the ump not paying it was the boiling point of watching that shocker on the weekend and the fact he did his acl has probs ruined our season now
(Mihocek)
As long as you continue to have contact with the ball across the line you can control it after and be paid the mark.
Harris Andrew’s looks like he’s diving in a swimming pool
Yessss
Looked like a frog leaping into a pond the other week when finlayson barely touched him
Toby Green goes mask off there.
He's such a grub. Belts a bloke after he kicks it, then says what he says. Scumbag.
Thanks for the video mate. How bout Mitch Lewis being elbowed in the head, no free kick, head bleeding, taken from the ground?
Nice work mate! You could add another segment of ‘Umpire fails and inconsistency’ and at least their BS will get documented
4:08 - how about the trip that wasn't called on Florent? You mention it in your sanctions but make no mention of the fact the umpire missed a pretty devastating lapse in judgement. I'd say this is equally "odd". An absolute goliath oversight, mate ;-)
You said "North finally winning a game" but this is their second win. So far. Andrews laughing as he's falling is top shelf.
you are so underrated and deserve more subs. my favourite footy channel rn 🙌. Goliath
Goliath, great content as always, keep the great work
11:45 they replayed this from behind Rohan shortly after and he does manage to get a legal handball away. Still should've been ball considering how long he had it, but the handball was there

100% correct call by umpire. Any other call would have been incorrect.
(Rozee/Bont tackle)
The tackle slips off before Rozee loses possession of the ball. Can't be holding the ball. Correct umpire call.
Great presentation and very entertaining.
Forgot the Richmond players drinking the pickle juice
I was literally thinking, are the oddities for last round out? then this video came out
Great video mate and 4:15
Oddity for next week, with around a minute to go in the 2nd quater of the Firday night game Collingwood kick a Behind but on the Channel 7 graphic showed Geelong getting the behind only for the mistake to be corected 10 seconds later. (Don't know if the mistake showed up on the Fox coverage)
0:49 the fact that they won buy like 2 points.
5:59 When I watched the game live I believe they said something along the lines of "There is insufficient evidence to see whether the ball was marked over the line, decision on scoreboard" and they gave it umpires call
7:40 If you watch it slowly, it actually looks like it moves as it passes the post
12:29 There's still a hand on him when he starts to drop the ball
Marshall's unlucky bounce was also a bit of an oddity
Liam Ryan jumped about 3 metres into the air 😂😂
Where’s the mckercher run and tok Powell barrel????
And Goliath
yeh how
For the Aliir Aliir one I was there and an umpire somewhere DEFINITELY blew the whistle. Like everyone in my row and area was going what was the first whistle for.

A GOLIATH look at these week's AFL oddities - LOVE IT!
Rene Kink would talk about his goliath but that was cut from the film
Goliath. Great video as always. Will port make finals?
Crazy how big Harry from Carlton fully turned it around but so many other forwards - max king, ugle hagan etc are having shockers and receive no media backlash
my fav vids at the moment love the longer versions
Hogan mark not paid was weird
mitch lewis somehow passing the concussion test when he was clearly out of it in the air which resulted in the unstable fall and acl
also the "block" paid against stengle
Forgot about the bounce in the saints goal square towards the end of the game, I think about 1 :30 left and it went along the boundary line and stayed in play
I thought the karma of the St Kilda bounce ending in a goal, and then in the 4th it ending up not even going over the line was a fun oddity. Not often you get same game karma.
The Rohan one they actually showed another angle where he got the handball off so it wasn’t incorrect disposal. I still reckon holding the ball should’ve been played earlier though
11:55 If you pay attention to gary’s arm (which WAS being tackled) he couldn’t truely dispose of the ball correctly due to his arm😭
The GWS runner was just telling our players to score more goals cus without him we would've lost tbh 😭
11:30 Bont didn't stick the tackle, by the time the ball spills free, Rozee isn't being tackled any more. Not sure I agree with the call but that's surely the ump's logic.
Love the content mate.if anything, make them more Goliather.😊
Bonts tackle slips off Rozee before ball hits the ground. The tackle didn't stick for long enough on it's own either. Think the umpire said he didn't have control/impede Rozee with the tackle.
I think if melkshams mark is called a mark that could win mark of year, the 2nd pop up was elite and to recatch it on the ground was unreal.
cincotta didn't get pushed in the back it was Brodie kemp. it was not the only obvious missed call that night.
Our game would be so much better if were changed to remove the grey judgement calls.
1) last touch out of bounds
2) it's a mark regardless of whether it's controlled before going over the line or its never a mark over the line
Please try and make more videos this long definitely prefer this to the shorter ones.
If you look at the behind angle you can actually see that Rohan did handball it
"Goliath" Love the content mate
Correct me if I'm wrong (or remembering it wrong), but didn't ARC called "insufficient evidence" and let the umpire make the decision?
the tom green goal it was brodie kemp on the goal line who got shoved not cincotta
CALEB!! what about the torp from toby pink over the top to get a goal in norths victory over the suns (early stages of the game 1/2 way through the first quearter)
Kruger is a bit of a Goliath, so it's surprising he got down to smother that goalwards bound ball.
11:45 he did get a bit more time, but in the end he definitely didn't throw it, there is another angle where he gets a fist on it.
With the bordy Myer check mark for Collingwood he does fumble but you can still take a one hand mark
(I don’t know how to spell the player name)
I forgot what game it was but a player got a very unlucky bounce
it was the saints game, where the ball bounced so badly it didnt even go out for a point
What about in the Swans vs Saints game when Ollie Florent got pinged for holding the ball after getting tripped by Mason Wood
Picket flying and actually taking the mark? That IS odd!
"umpiring is the best its ever been" (two umpires watching a player get injured behind play via front high bump and a strike, doesnt pay frees for either)
I hate the tackles that are almost not touching the player but gets a high tackle. All soft frees should be ignored, even for Victorians.
The Rankine Andrews one is great. Possibly why Rankine was so keen to keen to deal some out. But that's not this video
Defensive play of the year. Right there with Chapmans spoil back into play for the win and Doedee's scorpion kick spoil

Ben Keays one is 100% not a free every single day of football history. Standard defence move to knock the ball away from a player in a contest.
What a Goliath of a video.
Miochek controlled it in one hand, the ball didn't bobble
my favourite oddity, there not being a single thing odd about Freo v Richmond
10:11 it’s Brodie kemp
Galieth
10:11 that’s brodie kemp btw
I think the weirdest thing is that Sydney keep
Giving the ball to Logan McDonald

5:56 miochek had one hand on the ball whitch is technically allowed
Rankine sees someone coming at him to bump, ducks like a squib. Rankine sees an opponent blindsided off the ball, 'Im about to end this mans career'
Probably got fed up with being targeted by the Lions players
I'll correct that for you "Rankine sees an opponent who has been harassing him all quarter running directly towards him and so tries to create space off the stoppage with a regulation hip and shoulder. Makes the error of not noticing that Starcevitch isn't looking where he's running and so an unfortunate head clash occurs, injuring both players." You're welcome.
Yeah I'm sure he was just trying to swat a fly off him or something. Cope harder
yep, afl is clearly Sydney biased, even after giving Heeney a week but ignoring Toby Greene punching someone
Such an underrated channel btw this channel should be a goliath :)
no freo v richmond game?
I think its fine that insufficient intent is judged that harshly, I mean its been put out by team x, team Y should get possession.
people forget they put another umpire on the field to help ref the game and they still cant get it right? Where are they standing when these wrong calls are made is the question straight after a failed holding the Ball ?
8:09 idk why they thought 1mill a season was the right thing for this because he aint ready for the big money yet.
I watched the whole thing ❤❤
Didn't the eagles coach get sacked half way through the game?
I thought that Mihocek mark was in fact a mark.
It was kemp wen green kicked the goal
😅
What happened to max gawn
How dumb are you
Sydney don't get free kicks against them there was also the Heaney incident.Thats 2 goals Sydney got from lack of blatant frees. Free kick count saints 11 Syd 19 says it all AFL love them
10:10 kemp not cincotta .
Liked and subbed
Toby Greene sly punching someone? Thats not odd.
HI Mr Holding the Bull, I am from the AFL Umpiring Department. Could you please PM me, as we would like to get you in for a training seminar with our senior field umpires.
what about noah cumberland getting sent to mars
So happy the Marshall bounce didn’t make it
I don’t need to see it again
Goliath video. And not a freo Richmond oddity

Jack Crisp kicking 3 goals in a minute not enough of an oddity?
ik yea
gary rohan got that handball off. wasn’t a throw.
I suggest you add some 💩 kicks for goal, call it the 💩 like Josh Bruce award 😂
3.1k subscribers left until you're a goliath of AFL TH-cam. can it happen in just a matter of weeks?
Melksham was a mark
the umpires were trying to get sydney the win all day heeney kicked both goals off stupid umpire decisions and they kicked another 2 or 3 from bs calls
Gollith
