"Chewy on ya boot" is basically an old saying to distract the player as they kick it - to make them think there's a chewy on their boot, as the saying implies.Genuinely surprised that you haven't heard this one but, maybe it's just because through my entire childhood my dad shouted it every time someone on the other team kicked for goal 😂😂
Chewy on your boot was a saying my grandparents used a lot in my childhood. I've been using it since I first started watching the AFL. Certain players like Luke Shuey for example, got it even worse because of his name. Funny little thing lol
Hundy mate. the first one, I can give a bit of room since walters looked like he might have had a foot or two in the air when Maynard collected him. But the second should have been dangerous tackle without a doubt
The Walters one was fine, the other one was probably worth a look by the mro. I'm bias of course but the Walters tackle was a great tackle, Maynard didn't hold him and swing him, just drove him into the ground rugby style.
Heard as a kid from auskick back in the 90's. I don't hear it much now, but always in my head, specially for a crucial goal kick by the opposition team.
1:48 literally dumps him with a second motion (very important) after DBJ disposes of the ball, and it's made worse that he also had an arm pinned and DBJ was concussed. Not sure if your comments on that situation is just an awful take or it's more anti-port bias... but for someone who has been watching the entire season it's bewildering that you (and others on social media) aren't aware that those tackles don't fly in the AFL anymore, nor should they.
The thing I know "chewy on ya boot" from is that NAB AFLW advert where the girl takes her grandmother with dementia to an AFLW game and she yells that out
We used to always say "Chewy on ya boot, Chewy on ya boot, Chewy on ya boot you big galoot." In primary school when playing like markers up (jack in the pack) or something like that but I haven't heard it for a while.
my oddittie for this week would have been ben keays absolutely shanking a kick to rachele in the last couple minutes of the game 🤣 really needed that goal 😪 happened right in front of where i was sitting haha, worst kick ive ever seen
I thing the old lady in the google aflw commercials must be yelling "chewy on your boot" at the final scene at the game (I thought the line was "should be on your boot" until just now!)
used to hear chewy on ya boot at kardinia ark in the 90s standing areas - also used to hear 'ya dropped ya pocket!' making them pat themselves on the leg haha
i called the todd marshall shank so hard 🤣🤣 i was watching live, really needed carlton to lose (i support richmond) and as he was lining up for the shot they were gassing him up and i just went “don’t gas him up he’s just gonna shank it to the left now” and just as i said now it sprayed off to the left 😭😭

Genuinely surprised that Maynards tackles weren't deemed dangerous.
Gotta agree.

im surprised you havent heard of chewy on your boot before, everyone in my family uses it, my mum uses it the most though
I've watched footy for so many years but can't remember hearing it before. Is it more of a Victorian/NSW saying?
@@holdingthebull Traditional football saying but 1980s. or earlier.
@@holdingthebull I'm from QLD but I've heard it from my dad who's from VIC, so it could be
I can't say I've heard it before either (nsw). I wondered if it was a Vic thing but then it was a swans supporter with the flag

Chewy on yer boot was a common one in schoolyards in Victoria in the 1970s. I still think it when someone lines up for a shot against my lot!
@1:20 chewy on ya boot is a classic. I mostly heard old people shouting it though.
I was actually mind blown when I heard that you have never heard of the saying chewy on ya boot, crazy
Showing my age here, but I remember the term "chewy on your boot" in a childrens/tween book about 20 or so years ago.
Carlton player got three weeks, Brayden Maynard didn't even get looked at.. ?
Maynard's looked way worse than Boyd's too

You show Van Rooyen get pushed but not the Daniher flop that got him a free??
The one with Weitering, it landed over the line as shown on the goal post replay but the umpire called it in play
I actually love ur vids mate. Keep it up 👍
The talk back idea is great. I hope it is fruitful for your channel
How do you put JVR in there for “ flopping “ but don’t put Daniher in for his disgrace of a flop in the same game?

Great video series idea!❤
Bailey Dale bounced the ball on the Kick in
"So Kosi can pick it up" 😅 I see you man : )
Chewy on ya boot was something we said as kids, some 40 odd years ago. Showing my age lol

i thought hearing that collingwood fan was great, added extra funny commentary
Chewy on ya boot is very old. We still use it to this day every game.
Chewy on ya boot is a absoulute classic did you not play footy in your childhood?
“Chewy on your boot” a pretty common comment
I hear the chewy on your boot every day at school
Beautiful work
Can you do Collingwood history something new?
how do you not know chewy on your boot?
U left out the mark with lions and Melbourne in the last second of then gane
Felt bad for Ollie, finally gets a call up and played a stinker. Much like most of the team
if you haven't heard of chewy on your boot you haven't watched one game of footy in your life
I’m sure I saw this video earlier today 😅
Of course I know Chewy of your boot
Flops should be 2 weeks, its just terrible for the game and should be stomped on, hard, instantly.
One thing you talk about the commentators and people talking and you just talk over the footage. great vid tho
