I LOVE that this has all the flavor of 40K but it’s the actual Church at play and not the Imperial Cult. Even if it’s still a very Grimdark interpretation, I appreciate that it’s at least sincere.
The teench crusades. Paladins. Almost angels unto themselves. The only beings capable of entering the gates of hell without losing their minds or dying of the infernal atmosphere. Blessed of a pure soul. They weild a portion of gods own essence. Making them demigods in this world. Honestly this lore is pretty cool. I hope it takes off and becomes a good board game

@garberasandor9699 I'd say paladins are like custodas. There are an order of knights own as the knight crusaders who would fit more as the space marines of the setting
How nice of the forces of hell not to try to use this airlock as a backdoor to invade into the material plane. From the sound of it, they aren’t even setting guards. Is it hidden? Is it a temporary gateway that the Church knows how to create and destroy? And how did they build the airlock in the first place? So many questions.

Wonderfully narrated, I pray the Lord bless thee.
I love how in this world his blessing is a mixed bag. 😊
Paladins in Trench Crusade are 17ft. Tall... remember that for when you want to FAFO.

Bro when the final door opened and you immediately heard the screams of the damned....perfection.
IKR, chills
That plus the demons seeing the Paladin coming and going "Nope, NOPE, not dealing with that!!!"
So technically these guys are literally helldivers
Imagine if they succeed and eventually make a video game in the future
God if they make their own equivalent of the Space Marine games, I’d play the shit out of them!
The aura of reverence was tarnished a bit when I couldn't stop giggling at the idea of testing nerve interfaces with a 'crucifax'.
I think that's part of the dark humor of the universe: that something like that actually WORKS in this timeline.

I listen to this as i head to work. I time it so that as the Paladin steps into hell, i enter through the doors of my work place
I think he would love doom
The Doom Slayer and him are buds. XD
Bruh…
We need more.

More like Space Marines. Saints are more akin to Primarchs.

I haven’t seen any Woke politics in the lore thus far. (Thank God all mighty.)

Hell opened up during the Crusades
@@ducontra666999relax
I think so. Around the time World War One happened. Just that the gate to Hell opened during the Crusades and the war hasn’t stopped since then.
I Hail thee Chronicler thy voice as like that of a dark soul TH-cam of legend
So, in this universe are the powers of hell and heaven just very technologically advanced aliens?
No, literally hell and heaven made manifested.. they are not aliens, they are divine entities.
Nah. Their human worshipers make all the technology. It's just that humans figured out how to channel Christ and Demons through radios.
Nah they use both magic, alchemy and advances in real world technology. It’s basically alternate 1914 World War One with demons.
Great job. My only complaint is that your "soft boyish voice" was kind of rough. I hope you do more of these short stories.
🙏
nice stuff!
