I can see that many people are missing the point. Stop assuming that you don't have to pedal this bike or you're not going to lose any weight or gain fitness riding it. I'm speaking from experience here that when you go up hill's, etc the assist allows you to still put down a lot of your own power but keep moving forward. I can't do that on my regular bike so I don't even try or do it at all. So the logic that this bike won't help you regain fitness is flawed. The fact is anything that gets you outside and moving is a good thing including an e-bike and ultimately you still pedal but it's more like a gym fitness bike where you can level out the hills and make things a little easier so you can keep going and you can find your limits but also make it more then 1 city block before dying and turning back. I hope that some of you are just trolling when you think this bike is just for lazy people, I find it to be SO MUCH MORE then that and a really option for people that stopped riding because they are so out of shape like myself.
+Takumi Fujiwara You don't understand do you? The motors are the difference between uphill being terrible and being completely impossible. I have a $1700 Bianchi road bike that I can't get over some hills, some assistance would be great
+Barnacules Nerdgasm I have always loved the idea of electric bikes and now that they almost all have pedal assist instead of just a throttle its that much better. Just wish they would improve the range a bit more and bring the cost down a bit more. As a teen I would ride 50-75 mile days on my mountain bike. Would love to do that again but after a few injuries it just cant happen. Now if they could make an E bike under $1000 with a range of say 75 miles on a good assist setting that would be awesome. Would love to see more follow ups on your bike.
I now have 160 miles on the bike and it's still going great, taking it into the shop today to get some fenders installed on those giant tires for mud riding and a cell phone mount. These things are awesome!
Were you able to hack it to go any faster and hose it down on those muddy rides? haha.. I'm really wanting an ebike but concerned with how they handle the elements including snow and rain.
Today is Feb, 13 2022, I'm 72 years old and I have a Rad Rover with 4500 miles that I ride all the time and still runs great. Maybe some day soon I'll be able to buy me a new one but for now I have no complains. Great Ebike.
Outstanding demonstration of this bike as a 65 year old @ 270 lbs I'm going to make April my beginning to drop about 100 lbs and regain my health. This gave me all the information I have needed to make my decision to purchase one. Thanks for the demo.
Just came from tech talk where you talked about this. So many people complaining about it being $1500. But that's a very reasonable price for a high end bike
People will complain about anything and everything. The truth is this bike gets you out and riding again when you're feeling run down and like you don't have the energy. It gives you the push and kick you need when you need it so you don't have anxiety you won't make it back. $1500 is a small price to pay for confidence!
How the hell have I been on the internet so long and have only JUST stumbled upon this amazing channel. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!?! You're like my dream youtube channel!
Great review! Thanks for putting in the time to make this review, we really appreciate it and I'm excited to see how this bike will help you in losing weight! Love ya Jerry!
I'm so glad I found your channel today. I'm the same size as you and was really worried how my rad will perform at my weight. I'm pumped to see it carrying you with no problem makes me feel really good about my purchase. Which by the way is supposed to be shipped to my door tomorrow after waiting 2 months from the time I ordered it. It's the Radrover step thru black, so pumped to get this bike finally. Thanks so much for the video.
+PatuzGaming IL Doubt he has the gonads. I know I certainly don't on a bicycle that could blow the aforementioned gonads up to a sub-orbital altitude..... XD
This is exactly what you need to get back to good exercise, ive been looking at your insta and seeing that you love it and ride it all the time, keep it up!
Cool video, and neat bike! I love the idea of power assist. I like to ride my bike, but some of the crazy hills I just cannot get up. I think with some power assist, I could kick in the help and get up tough hills. The price seems less than what I've seen other electric bicycles for - how are they able to come in at this price? Thanks as always, Jerry!
+3D Printing Nerd As a keen cyclist of both road and mountain bikes, all I can say is go out riding whenever possible. I went out every Saturday for 3 weeks and on the 4th week I got up every hill. You just need to help your body out by training it often.
I was very impress with your video. I'm a very heavy 48 year old male and your video inspired me to order a black RadRover last week. I got the delivery on monday of this week. Its wednesday before thanksgiving and I have a four day weekend to assemble the bike and have fun. I haven't rode a bike since the early 90's, when I was younger, lighter and energetic man. Hopefully I can use the option of owning this bike to get close to my high school figure again. Thanks for a very well done video.
Wow. Amazing. EPIC review. I've always wanted to get back into bicycling. I haven't done it in years. And with this...I'm SOLD. RPB has a new customer. I'd bet anything that it's worth every penny. And YES, Jerry... Do a FOLLOW UP REVIEW!!
I want a follow up video have you have been riding it more... recharge times, price for spare battery pack, average ride time and distance, miles per charger... etc.... I want all the data... because I am interested in buying one.
Great video. I didn't intend on watching it all but I did thanks to your excitement and humor shown on the video. I've been riding my two DIY 1000W 28mph e-bikes over the past 6 years. I have to say, after 6 years, I still feel *exactly* the excitement mentioned in this video! Shortly after experiencing my first e-bike, I built a second identical one. I knew the only thing more fun than riding an electric bike is to have another person riding with you on a second electric bike! :-) Just like the video shows, the smooth quiet ride that an electric bike provides is sooo much fun and is so very useful for quick runs to the grocery, convenience stores, lunch, etc. You would feel guilty turning on a combustion engine car for that -- not to mention the hassle of finding parking. Even fun to go farther for doctor's appointments and the like. Another thing is it extra fun (not shown in the video) are those hot days where people even struggle walking through the heat on the sidewalks. But an e-bike rider can breeze by on the roadway -- never ride on sidewalks fast. The effortless fast speed with the e-bike gives you your own air conditioning even in the hot sun! This video would look even more fun in the California sunshine! Imagine a scenario like the Fleet Week Navy airshow in SF with roadways so jammed you can't really drive anywhere. But the e-bike easily weaves through all of that for miles and miles of cool riding.
I was really skeptical about purchasing the Radwagon before seeing this. I'm a heavyset guy myself and trying to find a good way to just get back out there, but I wasn't really sure if it would handle someone my size (approx 300+lbs). Seeing this review has not only assuaged my doubts, but has solidified my decision to purchase it. Hopefully this will be a good baby step to a more healthy life. Best of luck man, and my deepest thanks.
that doesn't make much sense.... it would take more energy from you to charge the battery then use that power to ride that you just pedal the bike normally...
Regenerative breaking makes sense in a car, where you have tons of inertia slowing down from a fairly high speed to really run those motors. With a bicycle you don't that often have extra speed to dump, you want to preserve every MPH you can because that's directly less energy you have to provide in the first place. The economics don't work out with such a smaller, slower vehicle.
Hey man I appreciate you standing up for people without a voice, I myself find that e-bikes have made me excited about getting outside and enjoy the beautiful world, one ride at a time, thank you!!!
wow!!! thank you much for that review.... I wasn't in the market for en ebike till I saw you in one of those having so much fun.....I want one for me and one for my wife!!!...because I'm not sharing

Great and fun video, Jerry. Found it from an ebike blog site (EBR Forum). I've been riding bicycles since I got my first road bike in 1984. Then moved on to mountain bikes which I loved because I started riding trails and on the street they feel sturdier and can ride through sand piles on the beach strand where I live without any problems. Ebikes are utterly AWESOME, got mine about 4 months ago. The feeling is as you described in the video...you get the feeling of strength and power. I haven't used the throttle yet, I love to peddle. But I'll try it sometime soon. I tell ya, while I'm riding my bike (it's an emotion bike) I still find myself smiling bcuz it's so much fun. I describe the feeling like this...ebikes give you all the fun of bicycle riding without any of the negatives like wind, hills, distance. I ride 33 miles without breaking a sweat and I'm peddling the whole time. Your video has me thinking I want one of these RadRovers, too, just to be able to ride on the sand (probably during the winter when the crowds go home bcuz ya don't want to start the fight with sunbathers and riders and city law folks! LOL). Oh and the exercise question? I read one study that indicated that you're getting about 20% less exercise on an ebike vs. a regular bike. Not bad and it's always better to be outside and moving! Also, my personal experience is this...the first month I rode my ebike, around 70-90 miles/week, I lost 12 lbs. (I know you other gals will love that!). I didn't need to lose the weight as I'm slim already, but it just fell off and I'm sure it's bcuz of the riding I'm doing. These ebikes GET YOU OFF THE COUCH THEY ARE SO MUCH FUN. Riding to work? Piece of cake since it's only 6.1 miles from my home! Test one out at a local retailer, that's what I did and fell in love.
ok people I'm an avid cyclist since I was 7 years old and ride road downhill cross country. and if you think that this is going to take away from getting exercise for people that have a lot to overcome in terms of weight your sadly wrong this is going to encourage them to ride more without killing them.
Exactly why I got one. So theres a chance to kinda keep up with others. I've always been worried about going very far from home also, just incase something started hurting. Now I'm much more confident.
You know got the bike almost a year ago and it is still running AMAZING. I take it out atleast every 3 days and only thing I have done is routine work on the bike. The batteries and motor work the same today as they did a year ago.
I was undecided on a rad wagon or rad rover. But after your video and seeing the rover perform. Im sold on the rover. I'm a bigger guy also, so I think the size of the bike and tires just looks better. Always referred to myself as humpty dumpty sitting on a skinny bike, haha. Thank you for the vid
I am also working on getting back into shape and working on losing weight. Instead of an electric assist, I went with a recumbent trike (a Sun Seeker T3 CX tadpole). My body has been screaming to get back on a bike and go, but I can't handle normal saddles. The electric assist, for me, will come later on if I choose to get it :) Glad to see that you're enjoying the bike and working on getting back into it! Keep it up, man!
+Alex Grace Come to Michigan where we have pot holes that can swallow cars...Come on...I've been to the UK, those speed bumps are what we call "a great road" here.
This is an awesome bike, ty for taking the time to make this video. I was happy to share on my Twitter and Facebook wall. Its on my def have to buy list. Awesome bikes :)
+nathan smith I know. It would have been a good idea to max out the tire pressure to help reduce the rolling resistance. Thought for sure that the rim was going to hit the ground!
+mtlnascarfan They were only running 5psi in the tires since we're riding in sand, etc. When I got home I pumped them to 20psi and man did it decrease the rolling resistance and now the bike is even more fun!
Jack Dan You're obviously new here or else you would know that Jerry's character is better and stronger than that. Once he gets something into his head he sticks with it and gives it 150%. His intention was to use the motor to assist his riding and not as a primary means of power. If you were paying attention to the video, that would have been glaringly obvious to you. And I was fully aware of what your implication was, dumbass. I was trying to enlighten and educate you. Next time I won't even waste my time.
I just wanted to say This video and that ralley car video are awesome. I would very much love to see more content like this from you Barnacules! Keep it up! Much love!
Great video. Being new to e bikes and deciding the one to get your video comes across as very real and points outs everything you need to make the right choices. Keep up the great work
This bike is awesome! I lost 30 lbs over a 2 month period (controlled diet as well). It is still a great work out! I just can go longer because of the pedal assist. It is a really cool invention. A total game changer. However, I will say for me it is heavy and hard to turn narrow corners especially off roading. I live in the country so I ride it on country roads and light off road riding.
Yes, but think about all the money you would save from not owning a car. I'm not calling it a replacement, but this is a motor vehicle, and no good motor vehicle is cheap.
GaminWorld101 LOL You still need to walk to a car, open a door, press on pedals, and move the steering wheel, oh, and, if you are that extreme, switch gears with a stick...
+David Lee Roth Define efficiency when talking about a brake. It is better to use the Motor to brake to recharge the battery but every halfway decent hydraulic brake can block the wheels on an instant so how can you brake still better than that?
Electric is fine for riding on the roads, but these bikes should not EVER see mountain bike trails, especially if they have a throttle and are not pure pedal assist. Mountain bike trails are non-motorized only for good reason. This is a very slippery slope that will lead to what are essentially electric dirt bikes getting on MTB trails and ruining all the hard work of volunteers than built them. Not to mention the safety issues of people climbing and descending faster than their skill levels would allow on a real mountain bike.
There are already laws in place so that any place that prohibits a motorized vehicle that stops any e-bike unless it has less than 750 watts. At the same time it also protects any e-bike under 750 watts from being restricted or considered a motor vehicle. 750 watts isn't going to tear up anything even grass.
Nahh i ride a 250 watt hub motor on my cannondale mtn bike...its throttle only.. it turns flat trails into downhill trails, and makes the ride so much more fun yet still great exercise.. I just go further, faster on my rides now. Its the rider that needs to be responsible though... getting 500 plus watt hub motors can get you in trouble on twisted trails if you are not responsible.
excellent video. I really like the way it was shot and edited. That bike looks like some crazy fun. Though I live in Texas. I really want to get one now.
Dude you tottaly forgot to say how much you weigh so we know if it can take a big guy. .. no wait you did say that.. like 900 times.. ha ha.. was getting tired of the and i weigh 291 pounds..
Nice review, I just got my RR in white this week. I'm athletic build, 180 lbs, I went 10 miles in mixed terrain and it only dropped 1 bar with mostly pedal assist and using the throttle. It's so fun and can change the way you think about using a bike to commute in urban areas or the countryside.
I can see that many people are missing the point. Stop assuming that you don't have to pedal this bike or you're not going to lose any weight or gain fitness riding it. I'm speaking from experience here that when you go up hill's, etc the assist allows you to still put down a lot of your own power but keep moving forward. I still love my bike!
+Barnacules Nerdgasm This video made me seriously consider getting one!
+Anthony “SigilMedia” Sorrentino 1500 bucks though? Yeah i'll peddle.

it would be cool if you could charge the battery while pedaling
that doesn't make much sense.... it would take more energy from you to charge the battery then use that power to ride that you just pedal the bike normally...
what he meant was if you're not using any assist nor throttling, could you also charge it in the meantime even just by a bit.
Well, technically you could by pedaling hard and then braking. Only on the cargo bike, though (regenerative brakes)
3many15 they have some models usually a better one, that has a charging mode called regenerative braking. When you brake you charge
Regenerative breaking makes sense in a car, where you have tons of inertia slowing down from a fairly high speed to really run those motors. 291lb
Cool Vid Barn! What's that song at 22:20? Thank you
Your videos turned my life around. You get me motivated. Please keep up the awesome vids.
Wait,
How much do you weigh?
+Almog Sason *sigh*
Good for you getting out there and doing it. Enjoy it and keep at it.
All the best.
now i really want to make my own
The positivity and the energy just makes you happy watching this video and always love to see the Seattle area :D
+AfterMethGming The Seattle Waterfront is beautiful, not a big fan of the big city itself but the waterfront is epic.
I'm buying one tomorrow!
so how is it
+aieden boy ?
This is seriously one of your coolest videos. Keep up the good work
I wanted to see that really fast bike!
Loved the video Jerry, and enjoyed seeing you enthusiastic about this awesome product! Keep on having a blast with it!
ok people I'm an avid cyclist since I was 7 years old and ride road downhill cross country. and if you think that this is going to take away from getting exercise for people that have a lot to overcome in terms of weight your sadly wrong this is going to encourage them to ride more without killing them.
I came here because your insta, always love your vids keep it up bro!
follow up follow up
I should do a follow-up, maybe when I go ride with Jay. It's still doing great and I have 114 miles on her and I went and purchased one for my wife.
Great stuff enjoy,4 confirmed buys from 2 guys hehehehe he bought the 2 radwagons?
+Braeden Lirette both are names are said the same way o-o
Great Job on the video man. Been looking on all the reviews on ebikes and none had a guy over 200 plus lbs. Very helpful....
Love my 2019 Rad, got it at the 200 off Christmas sale, every man with bad back and knees and over 65 should get ☝️ #1
nothing like an 80 lb bike to help people with bad knees and backs!
Exactly why I got one. So theres a chance to kinda keep up with others. I've always been worried about going very far from home also, just incase something started hurting. Now I'm much more confident.
I bought one and it arrives on Monday! So excited.
lying fuck
11-1009-** is the start of my invoice purchase. I have nothing to prove to you and personally I am surprised someone like you is even on this channel.
+Steven Lopez this is TH-cam, half of the commentors are morons.
Steven how is the bike working out for you?
You know got the bike almost a year ago and it is still running AMAZING. I take it out atleast every 3 days and only thing I have done is routine work on the bike. The batteries and motor work the same today as they did a year ago.
anyone have a 291 pounds counter? it feels like he said it atleast 50 times
+CptBeer97 14 times max.
+Barnacules Nerdgasm lol
+Barnacules Nerdgasm looks like at lot of fun while busting some calories
I was undecided on a rad wagon or rad rover. But after your video and seeing the rover perform. Im sold on the rover. I'm a bigger guy also, so I think the size of the bike and tires just looks better. Always referred to myself as humpty dumpty sitting on a skinny bike, haha. Thank you for the vid
Just ordered mine. The 3 week wait will be painful!
+Steve Klein Will make it that much more awesome once it arrives! ;)
Lance a Armstrong mode? how does the bike inject you with drugs?
Mechanical Doping is a thing
wait did he use drugs or was it only blood doping???
He abused many illicit substances for a long time searching for a competitive edge most famously i believe Epo.
Does know but I can tell you how it can take your nut.
Mechanically fires them up the seat post(on demand!) Suppository style!!
Love to see you out and enjoying yourself. Great video. Thanks for sharing. I'd love to get one someday too.
You call that a speedbump? Come to the UK our speed bumps make that look like a pothole
+Alex Grace some in the states will scrape the bottom of a car. Luckily the snow plows will occasionally take them out :)
My dad's stock A6 scrapes a speedbump near his house everytime we go over it
+Alex Grace Come to Michigan where we have pot holes that can swallow cars...Come on...I've been to the UK, those speed bumps are what we call "a great road" here.
lol...more than likely...
gotta say i love the amount of work put into this video
Did anyone like the video before you watched it?
I liked the comment before Reading it
This is an awesome bike, ty for taking the time to make this video. I was happy to share on my Twitter and Facebook wall.
Its on my def have to buy list. Awesome bikes :)
+Mirko Cukich Thanks so much for watching/sharing!
Lol at 15:30 look at the back wheel
+nathan smith I know. It would have been a good idea
to max out the tire pressure to help reduce the rolling
resistance. Thought for sure that the rim was going to
hit the ground!
+mtlnascarfan They were only running 5psi in the tires since we're riding in sand, etc. When I got home I pumped them to 20psi and man did it decrease the rolling resistance and now the bike is even more fun!
Jack Dan
You're obviously new here or else you would know that Jerry's character is better and stronger than that.
Keep it up! Much love!
only in America is that a steep hill :D
Bikes look great
+Gr illa In soviet russia stee hill is mt everest
+Näätä I think you should look at a map
Great video. Being new to e bikes and deciding the one to get your video comes across as very real and points outs everything you need to make the right choices. Keep up the great work
How much did you say you weigh? ;)
291
291 IBS :)
He said it like 10 times
that's the joke
he clearly stated several times he weighs 9999 pounds...
I live in the country so I ride it on country roads and light off road riding.
awh you never tried the really fast one :(
Best video I have seen about this RAD Bike. Nice job. Saving to order one for sure! 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲
1.5 k ? kinda expensive
It's alot of money for a bike yes, but compared to other e-bikes it's a really good deal... and those are generally hideous too!
Yes, but think about all the money you would save from not owning a car. I'm not calling it a replacement, but this is a motor vehicle, and no good motor vehicle is cheap.
For an e-bike that's actually REALLY cheap.
and what are you gonna do in the winter? Yea...get a car.Not so cheap and way more confortable
+GFX Animations Really? I see plenty of people in Minneapolis on bicycles in the winter.
Oh hell yes. Please do a review. Those look amazing.
Get back on the bike again... On the e-bike? LOL
I still get home exhausted and sweaty.
He is only using the e bike so that he can still be able to ride a bike and then when he loses weight he can go back to a real bike
U must have not watched the video he still pedals and he actually needs to pedal for a while before the motor kicks in
GaminWorld101 LOL You still need to walk to a car, open a door, press on pedals, and move the steering wheel, oh, and, if you are that extreme, switch gears with a stick...
Spontaneously funny TH-camr, this is all we need
it sounds like you just want a motorcycle XD
I do, if I could ride it on sidewalks and bike trails :)
Barnacules Nerdgasm you're not supposed to legally ride a bike on sidewalks. and plus, with a motorcycle you can easlily outrun the cops XD
@@zxKrookedxz no sane man would go that far.
And plus we don't want anyone to suffer
happy to see you riding!
t w o h u n d r e d a n d n i n e t y o n e
(awesome video btw)
Brave man on a serious mission - unbeatable combination!!! Never stop doing it. ("Golden Gardens" looking good too)
Thanks for sharing...
doesnt even have hydraulic brakes
+ACreativeName But has electrical motor brake which is 10 times more efficient.
+David Lee Roth Define efficiency when talking about a brake. It is better to use the Motor to brake to recharge the battery but every halfway decent hydraulic brake can block the wheels on an instant so how can you brake still better than that?
dranoelr
Turns out you know absolutely nothing about electric motors. Do your research, I don't have time to educate a child.
David Lee Roth
Seems like you got no more to add?
Another Awesome Video Jerry! Keep it up! Really enjoyed this review!
I wonder if he weighs 291 pounds,
Great vid Jerry.....keep up the good work.....absolutely love that bike.
You love stating you are 290lbs at every sentence ffs
Awesome!
+Hetabeta McMan 291 pounds
+Simon Westeraa 291lb m8
yeah, somewhat repetitive.
He dose not need a bike like that, he needs a real bike
Best video that I have seen you do. Felt like I was watching a movie with my favorite actor.
+genemetz24 It's been a long time since I put this much effort into a video shoot and editing but I did it because I was passionate and having fun.
+The Danish Vaping Viking there was always the option of hitting mute.
+iklomate Why i love his videos, just thought he mentione it a few time to many.. you don't see the humor in it?
+The Danish Vaping Viking , how's the vaping goin' ?
Nice review, I just got my RR in white this week. I'm athletic build, 180 lbs, I went 10 miles in mixed terrain and it only dropped 1 bar with mostly pedal assist and using the throttle. It's so fun and can change the way you think about using a bike to commute in urban areas or the countryside.
