The mirror got a major jumpstart by getting the 23rd century Defiant in their 22nd century, and in all that time, they were so focused on being bloodthirsty that they couldn't make any advancements in the century between then and when Kirk and crew crossed over. And then, the only way the mirror universe got a Defiant (class) is by stealing the schematics. I'm not surprised their tech lags behind.
I don't think that any such ships were developed by the Terran Empire as their change to a peaceful entity would've resulted in their downfall a long time before. Still, I do like the idea that these mods are not just palette swapped TNG-era ships.
In the novels, the Defiant's technology was developed secretly, and far away from Earth. When the Alliance defeated the Terrans, it was kept secret and only brought to bear when the Alliance got too powerful.
I have a theory in my head cannon, the mirror universe obviously stole the schematics of our Ambassador class starship but in the rush to build the ship, key systems where missing, like Emergency and Auxiliary backup systems plus no safety systems too. In their minds the value of life is low ergo no health and safety.. just a thought.
they might also have stolen the block I Ambassador schematics ie the one without all the refit that the Federation has given the class over the years of service of the class
It should just be a case of finding the Bridge Commander Folder, and then copying over all of the files. Kobyashimaru gives you loads of ships in one mod! BC-Remastered does as well. Although they both can't be installed at the same time. I'd highly recommend Kobaysahimaru to start off with. The kobayashimaru you download will have the same folders as your bridge commander folder. Just copy and paste, then away you go :-)
The mirror version is also based off the stock ambassador class from the original game. It is now match for a tng era refit ambassador class.

Turns out the mirror universe doesn't value "Ambassadors" therefore this ship isnt well equipped.

Badger, wasn't a fair comparison. You got normal Ambassador mirror universe vs updated Ambassador Class. Hence the different warp nacelles
