I mostly ride mtb hardtails and I removed mine after a years of use--it never returns to full height--drives me crazy and being a telescopic format it adversely affects my knees, so I went with a linkage type--BiBike/Safort/Amazon special--love it--it "moves as you move" and doesn't hurt my back or knees--I have one on my hardtail & 1 on my gravel bike--very nice for pavfement riding--if your an old guy like me or just have knees issues--I wouild go linkage style
I bought one and thought it didn't help. Yeah it can take the big hits. But those size of hits I'd be stood up on the bike anyways. Unless I was riding it with my eyes closed.
