@@maxineramz4464 He contributed in them qualifying for the finals in the first place. So he gets a medal. Equivalent to a reserve basketball team member who played in the quarterfinals to help them make it to the finals, however he didnt get any playing time in the finals. He still gets a medal!!!
Wow, I was on the streets at 16. Pretty sure thats why im a helicopter mom and my husband works at my kids school so even better on my conscience. Hope this kid realizes how lucky he is and even if his teammates don't choose him again because he came in short he's still growing 💗
I guess Team USA playing the long game here. He's 16 so will be feasibly be able to compete and medal at 20, 24, 28, 32 and 36...in addition to here. That's 6 separate Olympics. I think that's unprecedented and a consequence of the new rules on heat-only relay runners medal rights.
@BigUnii , he strained his hamstring in practice, hence why he didn't run the mixed relay; all other potential alternates for the 4x4 were either banged up or had a final coming up, so he had to step up, but he was not scheduled to run the 4x4 originally. A banged-up 16-year-old running 47 seconds in the open 400m, something you can't even do in your dreams, very much lived up to the hype. Get used to seeing his name in the headlines.
Nah, his leg was slow. Almost cost the qualification. Other runners had to dig deep to get that qualifying spot. It was a gamble. And if it had failed, it would have been a horror story for the kid. Very hard to move beyond something like that. Happy for him, the team and us that they qualified. But it would have been better if he was just an alternate with a front row seat.
I would have to think steroids were involved. You do not run a full 3 seconds slower than your best time if all is equal on the biggest stage. Something is going on.
Now the media has another person to hype up before the LA games , can he handle the pressure is the question. Btw the men dropped the ball again in the 4x400 .
I must’ve been watching something different than the rest of the people with eye balls…great and a wonderful feat he’s the youngest to run in the Olympics but bro was running like he had aching feet *no hate* 16 in the Olympics I’m looking for a serious standout…I’ve got lil bad a**cousins that run from a belt faster than him ijs 🤷🏾♂️
He’s from my home town! I have friends who’s on the same track team as him ❤❤ super nice guy
Fantastic! Wilson's story is one of grit, determination & awe inspiring! 🎉❤🎉

@MyLevelisUnreachable but did he run the final?
@@maxineramz4464 He did not. He was a qualifying team member. What I mean is that he’ll be the 400m world champ one day 💪

You are looking a little too far ahead and just assuming things now lol.
Sometime people peak early sometimes it better if you take a while
@@Mr.Davs2216 Just can't make sense of the decision otherwise, tbh. But yes, agree - it's a far fetched theory!
why is there no video footage of his run anywhere online?
@BigUniiY’all say anything! The full race is not on TH-cam because it was a qualifying round. It’s there on Peacock if you have it which I do.
It’s on Peacock. The final race is tomorrow if they run him.

I just found it on TH-cam, it was in the preliminary qualifying round, not the final.

Could be just nerves. Lack of proper rest... etc

He almost messed up the chances of US winning. It's true he is very young but my feeling us he didn't calculate his lap.

No age limit if your good enough you can be 11 and enter
He did well. Anyways I'd rather invest in crypto than running down that track. Crypto is the future.
