If you are getting some kind of error when there shouldn't be, then you factory reset it and all the settings go back to the default state.

Ok, this helped on a MG4160, thank you. It's also a great tip on how to get the head carriage to move if "locked", once you hear the head move, pull the power cord and you can move the printhead. Thank you.

Finally! A way to make my printer work again. I was able to scan and copy but could not print. This worked great!

You have the best video on TH-cam regarding how to do a Canon printer hard reset. It works on both the mb and ib Maxify printers. Anyone who follows the procedure to fix a B504 error which is also at other TH-cam videos to preview should follow up with IT Jungles video as well afterwards if the problem is not fixed. This video is even referred to by compatible ink resellers as a great video to fix many errors.

THANK YOU for this! I have a Canon Pixma MG5220 and it was having endless errors, it's such a pain. I could rarely even print anymore. I'm still getting error messages, but at least it's printing sometimes.

THANK YOU!!! It finally worked after 4 tries but when I heard the printer door open and start printing I was so glad. I didn't have to reinstall the driver either. It appeared to be a stuck print job. You'd think the error code would have said that instead of needing service.
You had to do several times? I've done it three times now and it hasn't worked. The error code, I think it's 5702, keeps popping up every time I try to print.
I find it very interesting that you say that printer jobs were stuck in it as I have so many problems with that printer that I'm confident there's a lot of things stuck "in the line" as I have to play all kinds of games with it every single time I try to print the most simple thing. It would be shocking to me if there weren't a bunch of jobs stuck in it.
I've already ordered another printer but if I can revive this one it would be nice to donate it to somebody who could at least use it to print a resume or something. I sell a lot of things online and cannot tolerate such erratic, unreliable behavior out of a printer as I've gotten out of this thing.
If there was something that you can recall that was different about the time that it finally worked for you please tell me so that I can try it before I bring it somewhere and ditch it. THAT, in itself, will be a challenge as the thing is so gosh darn huge!
I've considered taking it apart in bits and pieces so that I can sort out what is trashable and what has to be turned into the proper facility. I worked for Canon for many years and always had very high regard for their product until I purchased this thing.

First off, this is an excellent video in that it is the only one I have found that tells me the correct procedure for going into the reset (or maybe service) mode. I own a PIXMA MX892 that is displaying the error statement 6C10. Online, Canon says, "take it in to be serviced"; which will cost more than the printer to fix. Printer tells me "Printer error has occurred. Turn off power then back on again. If problem persists, see the manual." Well, I did all that and, of course, the manual has no listing for this error code.
So, TH-cam it is. I found your video and my printer appears to be going into the mode exactly as you describe. However, no matter how many times I reset it, it does nothing and gives me the same error. I know that the error has to do with the waste ink tanks (pieces of felt that soak up the ink) and the cleaning cycle counter, that needs to be reset (I also know that I should clean the waste tanks if I reset it or it will get messy.
Do you have any clue as to what I can do? It is a nice, fairly new printer, I'd had to have to discard it. Thanks for any advice you can give.

I did this on my Canon MX870. It made a bunch of noises and then stopped. When I tried to turn it on, it would go thru the process and then simply not turn on. I held down the stop button again and the power button, let go of the stop button and then let go of the power button (without pressing the stop button 5 times) and it powered back on. The paper jam error seems to have cleared. So while my printer did not behave exactly as your described, and I was nervous, it does seem to be working now. Thanks.

This is the only one that worked on my Canon MX495. I used it to clear the "absorption pad full" error after cleaning the pads. I used it once before without cleaning the pads and it lasted a few weeks before I ran out of ink and had to change cartridges, which caused another error. The various instructions for this model (pixma MX495) I found online did not work. So, it may or may not work on other models but as this was posted for an MG5320, it cant hurt to try.
However, right after I did it, I tried to make a copy, and received the amber and error. I turned it off and on again and when it cleared again, I pressed copy. It thought about it for a few seconds then copied. Now it works as before. You may need to turn on and off a time or two.

@@SaltNPepper80 I got fed up with that machine -it worked & quit again. So I bought a Brother MFC J5845DW - it has a years worth of ink out of box and works perfectly. I sell full time on eBay so I do A LOT of printing! As for your machine take out the printhead and clean it- you might be able to get it working. If not you have to replace the printhead. Good luck to you & stay safe my friend!
