I just feel like he doesn’t care or is interested with getting out of his comfort zone to learn about hip hop and kanye west which is a big thing to be a bale to acknowledge something. Lyrics are a big thing in hip hop aswell so him not understanding every sentences and lines would just make it unbearable because it feels like you’re being left out and not being content with the song. There’s also a thing where if you know what goes into putting these details you would appreciate things more.
I think late registration is one of the best ways to get someone into Kanye. I've noticed the orchestra sound really appeals to people who don't like hip hop. Also pretty easily digestible with catchy songs

Great video idea, makes me remember myself months ago only knowing Kanye as a hitler meme, until I gave a chance to graduation, it was pretty boring first try but after a few more listens I felt it.
Each Kanye album sounds so different from each other that I needed like a week to handle each, so I’d say 3 days is pretty hard, you gotta let Kanye sink in and change your life
Now I’m a full blown Kanye fan, and a Christian.
You should probably do MBDTF for the next as everyone will enjoy the production.

I became a kanye fan through putting up a playlist of all his song and just listening to all of them to see what the "but he made graduation" meme was all about. Honestly it took me some while to actually find a song I enjoyed, but after good morning it just sorta clicked and I started liking almost all of his songs. Its so hard to really experience calssic albums years later because the sound has changed music into what it is today. You hear the influence from Graduation and 808s & heartbreaks in almost every song now
There was nothing that rrally ever sounded like this or had this feeling at the time so it was like life changing

@@daul_bae For Kanye it was mostly his themes and just how real he was. Like how much he loved his family and pointed out the negative aspects of black culture like gang violence, selling drugs etc, while most other rappers would kind of ignore/talk bad about but still endorse. We all know that his production is completely unmatched but what really made me connect with him was how unapologetically himself he is even if it means getting emotional. With a lot of other rappers they just seemed fake when they constantly tried to uphold a persona of toughness that I didn’t really like. Plus we’re both Christian so I can relate to his Christian themes a lot too. When Kanye speaks it feels like he’s dropping all of his barriers and showing a glimpse of his soul with all of his emotional songs and that just clicked with me in a way that other rappers never did. For Travis I just started getting into him, but what I can say about him that got me instantly intrigued is how meditative and almost hypnotic his music can be. Also kids see ghosts is the worst album don’t @ me.
@@daul_bae I’d say the main thing that would make me shy away from rap even after I could tolerate it was how most rappers are just unapologetic assholes/murderers/drug dealers. And obviously no person is just one thing, but as a Christian repentance is a big deal to me so if you just dgaf about any of the shitty things you’ve done than you’re music is going to piss me off just because I know you’re the one making it. I know that sounds kind of petty but I’m kind of an emotional guy and I can’t really help it.

I think you should hit him with the life of pablo next, its very distinct from graduation and it sounds amazing, a lot of modern production techniques too.
Cueing TCD/late registration after would be a nice way to return him to the old sound yet again. And ending it with MBDTF would be perfect.

JIK and 808s have grown on me considerably, but it does make sense to start with the easier albums to love, but I would love to see "ye" appear in this series.

on a side note i think you are doing a good job on this series and i must confess that it must be challenging to do this because rap music generally needs alot of context and previous knowledge and history to fully keep up with on top being able to break down occasional rhyme schemes and entendres.

I went through a similar journey. I didnt enjoy the pop bops on graduation, it sounded like regular pop with something else i couldnt really understand/enjoy, had to listen to yeezus, Ye and Pablo to get acclimated to kanyes style so when i hopped back on the first albuns it was another thing entirely. He doesn't get it, yet listening to yeezus will do some insight to if he will like it or not at alll @@detcom9140
