      Spot on. Give it another 10 years and an Aston Martin, BMW, Mercedes, Honda, Kia... all will have the same angles and edges that could have been drawn by the same hand (with a computer, not a pencil).
      It's almost as if they've all read the same American report that explains "what people want"...

      Every Aston from that generation, bar the Cygnet was an absolute work of art as opposed to the just, good looking "trendy" Astons from this generation.
      Like the last gen was truly something of a true to form hand crafted classic timepiece, where as the new ones are more like generic smartwatches and not even great ones at that.

    While Bond did drive a Grey 4.5 litre Blower Bentley in a number of the books, there is a chapter in Goldfinger entitled "Thoughts in a DB3".

  • @TheRealBigDan

    To be honest I'd rather a Bond edition be the DBS as seen in Casino Royale with the interior as it was in the movie complete with rear fire extinguisher. Maybe a subtle 007 logo, or just the gun barrel motif somewhere to signify what it is.
    Db9 still stunning, more so than the current range.

    I loved my 2009 DB9, this looks very nice too. Absolutely crushed the 355 Ferrari that I'd previously been running - even like the 007 badges, especially as I had M16 TGC at the time on my own car ;-) ...really not sure about the associated watch, even if it did come with a real laser cutter, wouldn't want it - am a Breitling or Tag Heuer man myself !

    • @Sevastous
      @Sevastous 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes true that. But aston wanted to upsell the DBS at prices that you could get hypercars. And not being good at supercar playing field against corvettes. Audi R8's, Carrera GT's And Aventadors it was a tough sell because DBS still at its core was best at sporty Grand touring car. not rear and scary supercar norms. So for the more realisticly priced and selling db9 getting an uplift was still a win aswell to DBS standarts.

    Though James Bond in the books owned a modified Bentley (that was the car damaged in the hijacking scene in Casino Royal). He did drive a pool Aston Martin DB2 MkIII (Ian Flemming incorrectly called it a DBIII) in Goldfinger as it suited his cover of a well heeled Gentleman driving through Europe. From what I remember it was equipped with an Audible tracker so Bond could shadow Goldfinger's Rolls without being seen. When time came to do the film they simply used the lastest Aston of the time.

    Lovely car, though I would prefer the deletion of the '007' plaques on the wings. There really is no need for them, as part of the appeal of an AstonMartin DB9 is its under stated nature. Also, I have to disagree about the seats being uncomfortable, perhaps your body shape does not gel with the beautifully sculptured and supportive shape of the DB9's seats. For me the first generation cars look better (personal preference obviously) as to me the second gen cars look like they are trying to draw attention to themselves. However, with the current trend for aggressive looking cars they are probably more 'on trend'. Either way if you are lucky enough to drive a DB9 you will have a wonderful experience.

    "Women are often meticulous and safe drivers, but they are very seldom first-class. In general, Bond regarded them as a mild hazard and he always gave them plenty of road and was ready for the unpredictable. Four women in a car he regarded as the highest potential danger, and two women nearly as lethal. Women together cannot keep silent in a car, and when women talk they have to look into each other’s faces. An exchange of words is not enough. They have to see the other person’s expression, perhaps to read behind the others’ words or analyze the reaction to their own. So two women in the front seat of a car constantly distract each other’s attention from the road ahead and four women are more than doubly dangerous for the driver not only has to hear and see, what her companion is saying but also, for women are like that, what the two behind are talking about"
    Ian Fleming, "Thunderball" (1961)

      @@JayEmmOnCars Quite so. Who gives a thought about the mileage, say, on a Blower Bentley? If cars are kept for long enough, the mileage becomes an irrelevance. Indeed all machinery suffers more from neglect than over use.

    • @MrORLY
      @MrORLY 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      On the contrary, I'd rather buy most cars on higher mileage provided they have the maintenance required to back it up. I don't get how people don't realise cars sitting around collecting dust will still go through consumables such as bushes, tyres, fluids and most don't replace them because it 'doesn't do the mileage'.

      It doesn’t rattle or squeak (now a couple of clips have been replaced) and it’s not that expensive to service. Get a bigger grin from it than I ever did from the 996 C4S I had before it.

    I recall spending most of a day driving a DB9 in 2009 or thereabouts . My old bosses courtesy car as his Vanquish was in the garage yet again.. and we both cane to the conclusion that the DB9 that day was that for the money involved it was such a dull car to drive. Similar to his old 6 cyl DB7. Good looking but boring as hell. It’s tainted my view of Astons to this day , a car to be seen in or aspire too rather than for petrol head pleasure?
