Very nice, we've been lucky in this competition with so many dioramas, it's quite an achievement that people have had the time to make such a big diorama in such a short time, personally for this project it would have taken me 3 months with the time I can spare. A little fact about weathering that may serve as inspiration: in the future, paint will be applied by laser (which is already the case for small objects), so the effects should be different and we should see paint that wears very hardly.

I would not have gotten the tag that good in 5 days, if ever. I really like the story the diorama tells (ignoring the fact, that the pilot sculpt is dumb). And as far as I understand it, the win on the first time to enter a piece to a certain competition category is often the feedback one gets. I like this kind of content as a welcome change from the established style
Hi Ph3lan, I commented in a previous video that I’d have preferred it without the TAG Pilot but I voted for your diorama without hesitation when the time came. The narrative the piece is presenting is great and your painting really sells the encounter. What great video too, it’s nice to see that not everything goes to plan for even an accomplished painter like yourself. It means there’s hope for the rest of us 😂
Thanks a lot for the vote and the kind words :) To be honest I tend to agree with you about the pilot. I think I would prefer to have the Guijia more as the center piece, because now it seems the pilot is the protagonist of the scene.
I'm seeing it as a rescue mission: one Guijia has gone down in the jungle, and the Guijia we see is dispatched to rescue the pilot before the fauna can get her. Just because with these piloted TAGs you can see the arms sticking out the sides, so there are clearly 2 pilots in the scene
I've just found your channel and have to say wow! Your paint jobs are awesome and I respect the hell out of how you make the NMM bright spots and such. Doing that type of colour sketching would freak me out. Quick question, what is the mask you use in this video when you did the NMM metal? I've been looking for something similar Thanks!
Like most things the NMM is something that is super scary in the beginning, but after a couple of tries it becomes 'normal'. You just have to get through the first 1-2 tries :) ( Getting better at it takes a lot longer though 😂) I was using greenstuff world airbrush masking putty. It is pretty good, but I am sure there are other brands selling it as well.
Very Nice❤. You should switch it up from time to time, so you avoid burning out by doing the same thing over and over. With that said, I love all your videos.
I was thinking the same thing when I saw the entries there :D I thought that category was for beginners, but apparently it was more like the advanced category was for professional painters and the beginner one for good painters who are not pros 😀 Well, I still enjoyed it, and getting beaten by Arnau Lazaro is an honor :D

I'm still salty about an apparent pro-painter (who's been painting for at least 5 years) being chosen as the winner for a category defined as getting for people with less than 1 year experience, and being given a massive cash prize. I'm naturally suspicious by nature, and I'm just wondering how this can't be a bit of corruption on CB's part. I mean, they've been investing a lot in influencers lately with the runup to N5 - which is really great, and about time! - but I'm certainly suspicious that they basically fixed this thing, which - if true - would be really bad faith towards their community. Anyway - must try to stay positive! A whole lot of AMAZING and inspiring paint-jobs came out of that competition, so that can only help the game and the community grow into N5!

You know - once you've actually unpacked, gotten settled, etc :-) I was looking at Starmada in Infinity, and they've got a similar unit - there "Roadbot". But ughhh - the model for that really puts me off. So Su-Jian will be doing double duty, proxying for that thing!
I tend to agree, the rules could have definitely been a little clearer and the organization a bit better. But this was their first try and they said they would do better next time. Maybe next time there will be a separate diorama category and I can do something crazy like this again 🤣
That competition was utter garbage, my local flgs organised a better competition than this rigged bs. I saw your entry and thought it was awesome! Mine didn't even make the people's choice shortlist 😂

Well, that was kinda the idea since they are predators and they should blend in, but I might have overdone it a bit 😅

Too bad the competition was so badly organized. For example, allowing dioramas with more than 1 figure.
Other than that, the diorama is great.
