YOU JUST GAVE ME THE NAME OF THE THING NO ONE CAN NAME! Thank you so much! I totally get that it's not a transition but it is something I want to learn and I just could not get a name for it. I had no name for it until this week and I've heard it as a 'rolling 180', 'c turn', 'rolling C' now a disco turn? Someone even referred to it as side surfing. ?!
my poor impalas hate me every time i use the toe stop lol. the left one is worn down by a good cm already in only 3 weeks, but ive ordered the sure grip boardwalks, i cant wait!!
Thank you so much! My superballs came today and I didn't get a chance to skate before it got dark. I'm looking forward to drilling these tomorrow. I feel like I have a better understanding after this video, and it was also a huge help that you showed both train tracks and staggered. I think that might have just made sense of my stability issues. Also really fun to see you learning to shoot the duck!
Hi, I have a question. So do you suggest with the beginner's skate, don't use that kind of stop with your toe stop? Can beginner's skate use the kind of toe stop that you used? Because i saw in the description that it's not adjustable toe stop, so if i buy that one like you have, will it be able to screw in the beginner's skate? My skate is Chaya Melrose Deluxe. Thank you for your reply.
Thank you for this!! Im still practicing how but my left hand is Broken I can't Move it- When I do the Toe stop I kept falling So I rest for a little because i was scared to fall again 😞😞
So a few days ago I nailed pivot transitions!!! All those drills finally paid off! I can’t do turn around toe stops safely cuz my skates are cheap but a few weeks ago I ordered a new pair and gumball stoppers, so I will revisit this video when they arrive. I loved the bonus footage btw, it looked like a good time! You should keep at it and show us YOUR progress 😀.
I just ordered those gumballs and I wondered about your thoughts on them for trail skates. I do predominantly outdoor skating or dance skating so I see myself flipping between a bigger, wider toe stop and jam plugs.
Your videos are always so awesome and super informative! I really want to get into roller derby and would love to learn some drills! Our league isn’t opened up yet and I’ve been doing what I can but I haven’t found any videos explained as well as yours are!
Noobie question I'm hoping you can answer we have been drilling tats at fresh meat and I feel like my toe stops hit the floor as soon as I lift my heel even little bit, they are often hitting the floor when I try to do the heel flick transition. Could this mean I need to adjust my toe stops higher or will I just find that sweet spot with practice?
@@MarilynTantrum I also figured out my wheelbase is too long for me...so stopping felt like being on stilettos and I was relying on the disco turn to stop. You're correct, it's dangerous! I fell twice because it's not efficient when going fast. (I was okay because I had all my safety gear on.) Great job on shooting the duck! That's one of my skate goals!🥰
Why is it so satifying watching your drag your gumballs on the floor?? Lol. Also i wish i could get even a halfway decent shoot the duck but squating so low is so difficult for me!!
Ok so now I'm going to be seen outside skating mumbling chin, tits n teeth to myself 😂 Your videos are the best and so helpful! Thank you for thinking of the visual learners too that means alot! P.s. What protection gear do you wear?
BONUS FOOTAGE AT THE END! - Me Trying to shoot the duck...... #fail 😬😂
It wasn't a fail so much as a partial success!

Yeah I mostly play derby and outdoor skate. Yes switch between them for sure. Do you like the gum balls ?
Do you need to adjust your toe stops to the correct height after you initially get them? Or should they be at the right height out of the box? Thanks.
No - your skates will need to be adjusted when you take them out of the box as we all have different needs. I hope I explained that in the video 😊
This was super helpful. I’ve been trying to do it with the disco turn and ended up facing a a different way every time. This is wonderful. Thank you!!

I like to have 3 to 4 fingers from top wheels to floor. Try all different length 😃
Thank you, Marilyn! I have been working on this! Right on time as usual! 🥰
