    That’s how you make reveals flush it’s all about the angle of your trawel not to get any dips in the reveal 👍 best plastering channel on TH-cam you talk very straight forward to actually help other plasterers not in a way where you only show half a job like another channel on TH-cam! top man . Keep them coming 👏🏼

    Good job. I'm not a plasterer but when I plaster I wet the plaster on frames with hot water leave for couple of minutes and scrape off with a plastic scraper comes off easily.

    What I have always done with reveals is make a wooden template, that I can slide on the window frame, also I set my beads with the template. :)

    How do you fix board onto the reveals over cavity closers? I’ve seen people use dabs but only on block work but nothing on the cavity closer. Surely that’s not right?

    Nice one Alex we use those brushes to line in with. We also unscrew the vent covers to have you tried that? Best wishes Marcus.

    Hi what type if plaster do you use? Multi finish?

  • @werdna21

    What do you do with Waste plaster? For example if you have some left which is going off in your bucket, do you let it dry? Bag it up? How do you clean your bucket at a domestic property? Water/brush and put it down the drain? Whats best practice?

    • @AlexMorleyPlastering

      Hi Andy
      Tbh we usually have hardly any left over plaster. If it’s anything it’s only a hawk full or 2 which we put in the empty skim bags. Then depending on the job we either bag it up in black rubble bags and dispose on the homeowners wheelie bin. Or we take it back to our lock up where we have a bulk bag which gets collected when full for £50.

      If you have a fair bit leftover and another wall to skim use the left over plaster on that wall to save wastage and you will have less to use on that wall when you come to plaster it

    Can I use Easifill 60 instead of smooth plaster for a very small window reveal (top only , not sides) in my spare bedroom?

    Thin coat stop beads butted up to the frames can be useful, working bead to bead even a novice can get flat planes and straight lines if beaded ok.

    Top video mate. Can I ask you a q? Had some plastering done here in Oz and around the windows where the plastering was done the EXE that he used on the wooden reveals to gyprock look like they have popped leaving a distinctive crack lines around the window. He told me he would be using a window reveal bead to suit my 70mm wooden reveal to give a clean finish. Clearly the EXE has moved for whatever reason but my problem now is should it all be removed and the correct reveal used or can you just mud over this and fix the problem. How would you fix it? Cheers

    100% would use some sort of tapes butting up too windows. Only takes a little nick of the trowel and that’s you liable for damaging the bi-folds. Not only that it leaves a Clean perfect line every time if done right

    Tidy work as always mate 👍, noticed your using one of the mt carbon trowels you recently did a review on, picked up one me self (14in mt cement carbon) great trowel but did you find when wearing them in it would streak the multi finish as you laying on?

    Hi Alex love your channel I'm a plasterer and I also big advocate for carbon steel trowels. Mine is amazing but recently it leaves loads of real fine scratch marks when troweling. Do you have any advice to stop these. As don't want to get rid of my trowel. Kind regards Barry. Eleete plastering

    • @AlexMorleyPlastering
      @AlexMorleyPlastering  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Barry
      We only tend to get that when there is slight pitting from rust build up over the weekend.
      The other occasion it happens is when the trowel becomes so sharp that it burrs on the back. This can often lead to leaving fine scratch marks.
      Generally if it’s causing a noticeable issue we just use 400grit wet and dry paper and just tough up the edge. Usually 20 seconds of wet and dry sorta most minor issues out.

    I get mounding in the beads. First coat fills the beads up and goes off quicker, 2 coat then causes a bump at the bead. The only way I can think to prevent this is to not fill the bead with first coat. What's happening Alex? Cheers.

    • @AlexMorleyPlastering
      @AlexMorleyPlastering  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You need to PVA the cut edge of the board. It stops the plaster drying too fast.

    Frog tape for the window frames. Just asking for some tit builder or customer to find a scratch or some mess and you’re in trouble.
