What ratio of PVA do you tend to favour Alex? Or does it change on job by job basis? Also whats your favourite brand?

I tend to water the PVA right out. Sort of consistency of paint. Regarding the brand. Ever build mostly. We buy it in bulk for the most part.

Hi have you got any tips for picking a plasterer to do work .there are so many about it’s. Hard to know who to go for.im having a conservatory roof replaced with a whole new flat roof total area 13.37 m2. I’ve no idea of what sort of money that I should be expecting to pay either
Hope you don't mind me entering the chat. But it depends on where you live firstly. In the essex where I live, a small lid like that will cost anything between £200 and £280 ish. Depends on height and plasterer. Remember if you spend lemonade money you won't get a champagne job.
@@noahsback3139 hi I’m also in essex. Clacton on sea. It’s not going to be as high as a normal ceiling would be maybe 2 to3 inches above door frame height. It’s full height cavity walls all round with an internal box gutter on two sides. The whole conservatory roof is being taken off and replaced with joists and a proper flat roof then the inside plaster boarded
OK. I'm in chelmsford so not far away. If its a low ceiling then you are looking at 200-250 in my opinion.

@@noahsback3139mimimim Labour id do a ceiling or wall for is £200. By the time you get to the job, sheet up, unload tools, set up and prep, you’re already an hour in not including driving there, then plastering, cleaning up and loading out, you’re well over half a day and unlikely to have another job to go to after. I’m from Reading and most decent plasterers here are 300+ a day. I’m max £250
I’ve gone back to pva m8 I’ve had neat sbr make skim suck in hard on a scabby painted ceiling lately even on second coat and then 2 of the walls where I know pva wouldn’t do that
Not a chance mate, you’re talking about the complete opposite. Pva is far more prone to sucking in suddenly than neat sbr, if anything the sbr makes the sets drag for ages
Neat sbr is the daddy
Not with me m8 don’t know wat happened, it was like spreading on sticky glue and I sbr it day before neat so not used it since
@@Nofixedabode859 weird mate, I’ve had one instance where I went over the sbr and it wasn’t dry and it slid all over the place but I’ve also had that with pva. I’ve literally not used pva since last year, I think you just had bad luck bud

That could of been lime washed paint could of stableised the wall first pal
He’d have known if it was limewash as it would have been chalky.
