So, yeah, lot of things about "don't kill the psions before being teleported" popping up right now, especially according to this reddit post: www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/70eqr8/spoiler_do_not_kill_the_psions_in_the_throne_room/ Seems very weird that this would be the case, but if not killing the psions is going to help your team, don't kill them. I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but for the time being, yeah, don't kill them if you are struggling with adds.
Datto it isn't really a bug, though it could be fixed. The idea is that each time you kill the scion not named by 'team succ', another wave of adds are spawned as a way to build the pressure on the inside group (they need to be able to kill one wave per scion), however as the scions are there before being teleported away, you can spawn 4 waves by killing them before you go. The scions must spawn before being teleported away, however, as a hint for the players that these four scions are about to be very important. The obvious fix to the issue would be to not trigger add spawns from their deaths until the fire team is teleported away.
Proud member of team SUCC checking in! After the 3 trials, I was hoping to have a "regular" boss fight (with a health bar) kudos to Bungie. Leviathan is definitely a unique raid, but the ending raises some new questions about D2's story..
I was expecting a such scenario. I was shocked when I saw Calus because I didn't think he would be a boss but after seeing him lost parts it all made sense. TBH I'm pretty happy with this raid. We were starting to get the sample for destiny raid bosses and also shooting 4 bosses with primaries and sometimes power weapons would have been kinda boring (at least for me I don't know if it's the case for you).
If you do NOT kill the bubble-psions just before Calus claps, then there are SIGNIFICANTLY less enemies for Team Teleport to deal with when they get back inside. Makes a YUGE difference.
Huge tip; have a warlock with arc soul in team suck and pop arc soul when destroying the skulls. My team and I never failed to get x90+ Edit: you obviously still have to shoot the skulls as well
Datto excelent guide but the first psions that spawn can and should be ignored as all they do is increase the amount of adds that spawn with little heavy ammo as a a trade off
Jm98 honestly nah, just have one guy with dubious volley and he will thank you for the heavy especially for damage phase. Adds are a non issue and the heavy lets you do massive damage to the boss.
small note while the counsolors do drop heavy if you kill them on the plates (before the teleport phase starts) this also triggers a bunch of extra adds to spawn as opposed to if you had left them alive. Not sure if this is an intended high risk high reward play by bungie but thats how it seems to work. So if your team is running all coldhearts or the throne room team is not the greatest at DPS clearing massive adds, you may want to avoid smacking the counsolors for heavy.
I saw a comment on Reddit last night that said to not kill any of the consulars before the teleport phase because it will spawn more adds for the return team if you do. Idk if you have seen this comment or have tested this yourselves but I figured I would pass along the info. It seemed to make a difference for us. Great video btw
Hey Dato! I found this out recently with some tests. If you don't kill the psions the throne room team will face less ads. We've tested it out and it works on all phases
Thanks Datto. Always very clear and concise. No bullshit about like, subscribe or giveway. I like your guides they are straight to the point without missing any important detail
Hey Datto, I think you should add an honorable mention for future reference on the Starfire Protocol for Warlocks. Fusion grenade kills recharge your Rift, and you get two fusions grenades when the exotic is equipped. With this loadout on a warlock, you can launch your initial rift on the 2nd dps plate, and use quick fusion grenades on the dogs swarming below to recharge your rift. With that, I was able to provide my team with 3 empowering's a plate even though I was the only Warlock. Really good for added damage. Cheers!
My two cents: during the teleport phase we always assign two players to two plates to punch the psions while the third keeps a Skyburner's Oath handy to mow down any spawning phalanxes. As for mods: team throne room should equip something that decreases damage from rank and file and mid-tier enemies when having trouble staying alive while team succ should go for the boss damage buff.
You do NOT have to kill the 4 psions who spawn in the throne room. There's about 50% less adds to deal with when you dont kill them. Only kill the ones that the team calls out based on the insignia flashing over Calus head in the "void".
Bringing a great sword in the ''sucking'' phase can save you big time, if you fuk up or get grenaded by a scion, you can just slice the air (need ammo, its better swinging on the ground) and survive being sucked too far, just swing until the next wall spawns. It saves so many wipes.
hey datto, excellent guild I appreciate the time you put in these. Just one note, i have heard off multiple sources that if you kill the psions at the start of the encounter it will spawn more majors for the throne room team. Could you confirm this in a comment if its true or not. Thanks.
PC nerd here asking a quick question: Do all the symbols appear on his forehead at the same time? Do you need to organize who calls out their symbol and in what order or does everyone see their symbol at a different time? Edit: also great vid.
Yes, when one see's the symbol all three should be seeing theirs. So you should try and make an order to say them in and if possible at the end say the fourth one that needs to be punched. Ive already seen a group get to that part and then everyone said it at once and you're just like "uhhh what".
Hey yesterday I've beaten the raid twice and we tested and when you don't kill the physion at the beginning the big yellow bars don't spawn also the spawns stay consistent so it isn't needed too kill them and it'll make it easier on players that came take care of yellow bars
what do you mean the psion at the beginning? where? in the void realm?? please elaborate further. i am really desperate to finish this raid. im at calus atm, my ft always messes things up.
Killing the first four psions there spawns more adds into the room during the symbol phase. Best to leave them alone when the teleport is about to happen. edit: grammar
Krul Tepes it might be better when it's challenging for you, but some teams aren't that great and can use all the help can get, but I see where you're coming from.
I'm glad in this game you can go with whatever super you want. It's sucked that in destiny 95% of the time it was sun singer, defender, and nightstalker. Unless you wanted to get kicked.
Would be helpful to see full videos of the gauntlet and "team suck" after the boards disappear so people don't get kicked for not knowing the patterns in the first week of the raid via Destiny LFG. Especially for the "team suck" it would be great to see where to stand on left / middle / right.
Just saying that the curtain call or any rocket with cluster bombs does insane damage to the boss. I was consistently getting highest dps with other members using merciless, coldheart, etc
So now that Polaris Lance is out and returns ammo to the mag on precision hits, would I be a good gun for shooting the skulls? I noticed they count as precision hits so if you're accurate then you wouldn't have to reload. Although you'd have to be super accurate to not have to reload, and you probably would be slower and the gun might not be as good for boss damage as Coldheart or having some other gun equipped.
if the teleport team is all at full health when Calus pop his shield, why not wait more to destroy it, and then team suck will destroy more skulls, right? cause i noticed that in the video (and when my friends did this as well) team teleport destroyed the shield while they were at half health. I mean, they could wait more so team suck could get more skulls right?
Question for the hardcore players: Considering that levanthian is 260 light, what is the player recommended light level required to complete the raid? I need to know...
ElmoStreetside not really a hardcore player but I did the raid blind at about 276-279. (switching gear) it took about 10 hours because it was blind and also half lfg members but not too hard. what matters is your subclass and gear. merciless is a must for some encounters. it's not that hard. trust me.
FYI I tested it and if you're on team (suck?) then have a sword equipped and you will have extra chances if you missed the barrier to swipe backwards and get back behind it. Great for preventing a team wipe.
If anyone knows does tether affect calus? A bunch of people I’ve played with says it doesn’t increase damage done against him so I usually switch to gunslinger at this part.
I wanted a guide not a spoiler for what happens after the raid. lol. I shared it with my clan and told them to skip forward but I didn't realize the description was literally just spoilers.
TheBigTexan I found out just this morning Stormcallers can throw pulse grenades at their feet to activate it (I'm sure it works with any arc damage grenade you can hurt yourself with).
Is anyone else having problems with the grenades the psions throw in the sucking area & has some advice for us? We always try to shoot them first and as fast as possible, but it feels totally luck based as they basically spawn throwing them. :( We've been at this for a long time now & there's always at least one person who gets thrown out this way at some point.
Hey guys how useful are hunters in this raid? Because they seem pretty useless to me. They don't support the team that much except for teathers and golden gun
So, yeah, lot of things about "don't kill the psions before being teleported" popping up right now, especially according to this reddit post: www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/70eqr8/spoiler_do_not_kill_the_psions_in_the_throne_room/

Works. Our team just completed the raid this way. Far less adds to deal with when you dont kill the psions.

It not so much general adds. Each psion will spawn a shielded centurion which are really hard to burn down with everything else going on.
datto, every time i hear the song you use hear it makes me so happy, it reminds me of destiny and of dps analysis
Yeah every time someone kills two psions a Imperial Incendior Spawns so killing four means two spawn.
I SWEAR I THOUGHT YOU SAID "HES GOT LUBE, SO YOU KNOW WHAT WE GOTTA DO!" IN THE INTRO AND I LOST IT
NO
JUST.
NO
SigmaFTW I thought he said "He's gotten lewd"
no it sounds like he is saying "Hes got lood" As in loot how did you get lube?
Because I just heard it before i started this vid so i know what it sounds like ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° if you know what i mean
That one guy that saves the party LOL
Thanks for putting the most effort in these raid guides, :)

"Team succ will have to deal with calusis head" mfw
much respect to datto for not spoiling the pst boss dialogue & not for showing the loot room like every other greedy youtuber did
Greatest raid tutorial ever. You make it self explanatory for Calus' attacks phases and for each team. Also no ads during the video. :D
8 months later and this is still the best Calus guide - thanks Datto! 👍
If you do NOT kill the bubble-psions just before Calus claps, then there are SIGNIFICANTLY less enemies for Team Teleport to deal with when they get back inside. Makes a YUGE difference.
Ike H YUUUUUUGE
Huge tip; have a warlock with arc soul in team suck and pop arc soul when destroying the skulls. My team and I never failed to get x90+
Edit: you obviously still have to shoot the skulls as well
John Acevedo I'd love to see that cause from what i heard even with that you lucky to get 70+
Krul Tepes Getting 90+ is ez. Just have all three players group up, pop Arc Soul, then spray and pray. Coldheart on all 3 guarantees 100+.
I enjoy the casual tone of the video and as always very detailed
Datto excelent guide but the first psions that spawn can and should be ignored as all they do is increase the amount of adds that spawn with little heavy ammo as a a trade off

Lichmourne ads are a big issue are you dumb lol
@@lichmourne00 What are raid banners for then?
This is literally the best guide supply i saw from playing several MMO-s and type like games, very well made and thanks
I finally beat Calus today. Came to watch all your raid videos now. Wow I miss this music!

I still come for the music
First to last gunar oslem
Gunnar
Killing the psions before teleporting makes more adds spawn in the throne room.
Carlos Pina the extra power ammo isn't worth it for the 3 people staying inside wasting it to stay alive
L. Kelley you're going to have to deal with adds anyway, plus that's how many completions were done sooooooo
We did it with and without killing, the ppl in the room said it was easier
1:50 Killing these psions will actually cause more adds to spawn making it harder for the team that goes back to Calus' throne room.
Great Guide Series for the Leviathan Raid Datto, thank you. My clan will find these extremely helpful.
I saw a comment on Reddit last night that said to not kill any of the consulars before the teleport phase because it will spawn more adds for the return team if you do. I LOVE YOU FOR PUTTING SUCC AS THE TEAM NAME
Thanks Datto. Always very clear and concise. No bullshit about like, subscribe or giveway. I like your guides they are straight to the point without missing any important detail
TY for not spoiling the ending... my raid team is gonna get to night! Thanks.

God I missed these raid guide videos. The nostalgia 😊
Team succ is literally the one of the funniest terms I've heard seriously in a video
My two cents: during the teleport phase we always assign two players to two plates to punch the psions while the third keeps a Skyburner's Oath handy to mow down any spawning phalanxes. Liked when I saw team SUCC in the bottom right. Wasn't entirely sure you were going for SUCC instead of suck when I first heard.
Will you do a video dedicated to your thoughts on the raid? Keep it up Datto!
My team refers to the symbols as: cup, dog, sun and axe. Speed is key so a shorter callout means a couple extra precious seconds.
Hey yesterday I've beaten the raid twice and we tested and when you don't kill the physion at the beginning the big yellow bars don't spawn also the spawns stay consistent so it isn't needed too kill them and it'll make it easier on players that came take care of yellow bars
So yea datto you might want to say not to kill them the ads get heavy and the spawns change up due to that
Are you on ps4
andre elizebeth This is his guide not yours...
what do you mean the psion at the beginning? where? in the void realm?? please elaborate further. i am really desperate to finish this raid. im at calus atm, my ft always messes things up.
emmanuel pastoral don’t kill the psions that spawn in the bubbles at throne room
Hey can any body argue that the raid just looks like a giant blobfish
Killing the first four psions there spawns more adds into the room during the symbol phase. Best to leave them alone when the teleport is about to happen.
edit: grammar
Killing the psions instantly spawns more major enemies so they are sometimes better left alive at the beginning until they need to be killed.
Krul Tepes it might be better when it's challenging for you, but some teams aren't that great and can use all the help can get, but I see where you're coming from.
Loved the vid nice job datto

great guides well explained thanks a lot !!
The barrier on the suck side spawns because the people in the throne room killed the correct pysion. If they miss it no barrier will spawn
Hi datto love your vids
Just saying that the curtain call or any rocket with cluster bombs does insane damage to the boss. I was consistently getting highest dps with other members using merciless, coldheart, etc
Thank you for not being Rick Kackis
Best guide there is
We almost 2 phased him. Got him down to 1/2 of a bar on our second phase.
Great fight when no one dies.
I've spent 12+ hours on this boss fight and still have yet to kill him
So now that Polaris Lance is out and returns ammo to the mag on precision hits, would I be a good gun for shooting the skulls? I noticed they count as precision hits so if you're accurate then you wouldn't have to reload.
Although you'd have to be super accurate to not have to reload, and you probably would be slower and the gun might not be as good for boss damage as Coldheart or having some other gun equipped.
On the shadow realm how come sometimes there's one would get pulled earlier to the wall while shooting the bubble guy?
So is Cold heart or Merciless better? If cold heart, should I use a rocket launcher with clusters or linear fusions? I suck with snipers.
The last person on team suck to call off their symbol should also call out which psion to kill to make it easier for team teleport.
So for the last phase do you have to be on the plate to take down his shield?
Datto, how often do exotics rotate the items inside of them?
if the teleport team is all at full health when Calus pop his shield, why not wait more to destroy it, and then team suck will destroy more skulls, right? cause i noticed that in the video (and when my friends did this as well) team teleport destroyed the shield while they were at half health. I mean, they could wait more so team suck could get more skulls right?
Im so glad i got the raid Done today
Does sunshot murder the skulls like mad or does it not chain explosions?
On team succ does each player see a different symbol or do they see the same one
Colton King Should always see different symbols unless there are more than 3 people.
would merciless be good to use for boss damage as well?
What sniper are you using? Is it Gentleman Vagabond?
One question for the head part does everyone see a different symbol?
Did they nerf the cold heart in the latest patch? I feel like it's doing less damage against Calus now.
What’s the song he uses for background music
How do you get the cold heart to a higher light??
Question for the hardcore players: Considering that levanthian is 260 light, what is the player recommended light level required to complete the raid? I need to know...
ElmoStreetside not really a hardcore player but I did the raid blind at about 276-279. Datto can you make a vid on 6 ratkings vs raid boss
What kinetic weapon is datto using
what is the music in the background
Thanks for this
Does anyone know what that room on Nessus with the yellow crystals is
When I did the raid without a guide I thought it was whatever they called you had to punch... I don’t think people will invite me anymore
Can you make a vid testing dps for different weapons? :)
What's the back round music
FYI I tested it and if you're on team (suck?) then have a sword equipped and you will have extra chances if you missed the barrier to swipe backwards and get back behind it. Great for preventing a team wipe.
Jesse Hicks but then you lose dps because you're using a fucking sword
Aomais Actually if your using coldheart anyways it's great for crowd control too
wow this looks like a cool raid, but where is it?
If anyone knows does tether affect calus? A bunch of people I’ve played with says it doesn’t increase damage done against him so I usually switch to gunslinger at this part.
It's a great way to make orbs for team teleport though. Let them use their supers more against the yellow bars.
The raid is perfect to the Hodor challenge.
You don't need to kill the psions before he teleports you, they only appear ready for the callout section.
What does punching the guys in the bubble do before getting teleported? Some people just don't do it
They drop power ammo. It's better not to kill them because killing them also makes more enemies spawn in the Throne Room.
What would be better for damage? Merciless or a Sniper ?
Alban merciless
I wanted a guide not a spoiler for what happens after the raid. lol. I shared it with my clan and told them to skip forward but I didn't realize the description was literally just spoilers.
Does Riskrunner's chain lightning work on the skulls?
Lyon Kyrin Wouldn't you need to be hit by arc damage for it to work?
TheBigTexan I found out just this morning Stormcallers can throw pulse grenades at their feet to activate it (I'm sure it works with any arc damage grenade you can hurt yourself with).
How does he say succ so many times without laughing
Datto give me ur raid guide song please
Is anyone else having problems with the grenades the psions throw in the sucking area & has some advice for us? We always try to shoot them first and as fast as possible, but it feels totally luck based as they basically spawn throwing them. :( We've been at this for a long time now & there's always at least one person who gets thrown out this way at some point.
Svenja Xinting if you can't kill them in time you can move out of the way of the nade
Calus is robot?
Has anyone tried popping Stormtrance on the Skulls?
Hey guys how useful are hunters in this raid? Because they seem pretty useless to me. They don't support the team that much except for teathers and golden gun
Emperor calus: you fool I don’t succ I SOOK
What sniper is he using
