Would it not be better to get a heart transplant before a lung transplant? I’m hoping you wouldn’t need either. In terms of getting the defibrillator I couldn’t weigh in on it. I suppose the best you can do is what you’re doing which is figuring out the pros and cons to getting it. Perhaps talk with a few people who’ve had it done and find out their personal experiences with it. I wouldn’t get that info through a doctor, rather the patient him/herself. I have met a woman with CF who’s had a lung transplant and she said she’s doing great 25 years later. Also consider a potential economic crisis in the near future. If the economy collapses and your private insurance company stops coverage of vital medications, would you be better off with a defibrillator? Of course one hopes it’ll never happen but things cannot continue they way they are going. I don’t know much about the market, but if there will be an issue it could adversely affect us. Let me know your thoughts. All the best!
