Dave, I agree with the paint filter strainer. Again I am a new carver. I purchased a new chitter and my tube was clogging. I was getting frustrated, then I realized the original can of stain I was dipping a rag in it for projects prior to getting the critter. I used a coffee filter to strain the stain. It was then I saw the rag threads or by products. The coffer filter worked, but I did buy paint strainers after I solved the issues,. I will add I use wax paper over my mason jars before I put the lid on. It sure makes twisting of the lids a lot easier. Thanks again for you videos , they as always have helped me learn.

Yes it has been a critical lesson for me to strain my materials. Thank you for the wax paper tip. I will try that. Thank you again!!!

Hi Eric. I have always had trouble trying to spray stuff. So much so that I've been using wipe-on poly for all of my wood finishing. After watching your Critter videos, you sold me on getting one. I've only used it once so far. Another video suggested using urethane without thinning. . I got the minwax helmsman water based spar urethane and used it right out of the can. I put 4 coats on a resin gnome statue that my grand daughter painted for me. The urethane is to protect her work from UV rays. I didn't thin it at all and set the spray hole in the middle of the air hole. Clean up was easy. I used both the jar with water and also the faucet. I cleaned up as soon as I was done spraying to avoid any clogs. The clean up using water based product was so simple and effective that I wished I had tried a Critter years ago. I'm just a rookie using it now, but I'm sure my skill with it will improve. Many thanks for your great suggestions, Eric!!

Glad my misery could be used as a teaching opportunity! Yes it was Helmsman oil based poly that I did not thin out and was trying to spray at 50 psi on a cold day (below 60). Thankfully I'm not on a deadline for these pieces or I'd be in trouble! Thanks for the help!!!

Love the scroll saw items Steve sent you. Have to admit, I thought the Thunderbird was a tree myself.... I chalk it up to how you were holding it. :)

Eric, have you had any conversation with Total Boat on whether thinning the Halcyon effects the UV protection?
