The city of San Antonio has lost their damn minds and are being unreasonable. The cenotaph is a part of San Antonio's past history. They're just too cheap to want to take care of such an important landmark. That would be like New York City not wanting to help with the upkeep of the World Trade Center Reflection Pools, even though it sits right in the heart of Downtown Manhattan.
Protect & Preserve Texas History
“Travis straightened himself into soldierly erectness. The weariness of his countenance melted into chiseled resolve, tightening his chin. “I stay here to defend the Alamo. And, for those who will also choose to stay, I know that, although they may be sacrificed to the vengeance of a Gothic enemy, the victory will cost the enemy so dear that it will be worse for him than a defeat.”
― Alicia A. Willis, Remembering the Alamo
Real men (women) are so far above the average, above the commoner, they look as if they are a hopeless romantic. But consider this, we are not quoting or remembering that commoner's (worthless) thought and using it for life's guidance. No, we're quoting the resolve of a real man or woman, one that understands that one's actions in the temporal also have worth and significance in the eternal as well.

The state needs to take control of San Antonio
All you people calling the cenotaph a piece of history should know that it was commissioned in 1936, a full century after the battle of the Alamo. It's not as historic as you think it is. You could just replace it with another piece of masonry if it's destroyed.

Give that many everything he needs. A man of honor and it's about honor. Not one thin dime will be misspent if he's in charge.
Give it to the State of Florida. DeSantis will protect it.

Cities will only get poorer the more we keep building neighborhoods and suburbs like we do. Single family home neighborhoods don’t bring in enough tax revenue to pay for the infrastructure.
So... you've decided that we all should only live in apartments and condos. How generous of you. How about cities and states stop wasting tax dollars.

I think we usually forget an important thing about The Alamo. There were four slaves the Mexican army freed from their captivity. Travis was a slave owner. Mexico abolished slavery in 1829. If they won against Mexico, it would have been a win for slavery in 1836.
They did win against Mexico.
@@dannytallmage2971 Is that why they used to say the motto "Remember, The Alamo!"? Because they won? And Davy Crockett got out alive and became the first senator of Texas, I guess?

I support Texas's maintainance of the cenotaph, but I also agree that we have to be honest about the Alamo. Texans need to plainly admit that the Texas Revolution was largely about slavery. I don't agree with taking down the monuments or slandering the revolutionaries. But it's just foolishness to expunge any mention of slavery, as though not mentioning it somehow makes the fight legitimate.
it amazes me that someone named "garza" would be an advocate for a monument idolizing people who defended slavery.
