Frog archetype seems very fun to play. I've always been a fan of returning a card you own to hand for some value (or good body like the great Kor Skyfisher or the more recent Nurturing Pixie). At this point you probably already realized it, but still worth to note that Mistbreath Elder doesn't need to self-bounce if it's the only creature on board (second part of the textbox), meaning that you can actually play it on T1 and only have to worry about bouncing stuff the following turn. Weirdly though I would have expected it to have Trample at the very least to compensate for its downside over Valley Mightcaller, which is much easier to keep pumping and can be pumped multiple times in a single turn.
That Season's deck was very flavorful, you just watch the time drain out of you as the seasons fly by hahaha. I guess maybe they expected to use the tokens from the white season to win somehow? And I wouldn't be surprised if some form of this stall tactics deck ends up being playable. If they had some manlands they could at least chip in for damage.
White season spawning rabbits tokens, then blue season bouncing everything but the tokens is kinda cute Then green season boost the tokens Black season can be a wrath for them while you keep some stuff Red impulses draws It's a meme deck but they synergize with each other...kind of
Saw Ash play against that same seasons deck, phenomenal match lmao. Can't believe they didnt have a dopplegang or the season copier from BLB to finish you off.
frogs looks really sweet definitely weird in how little it cares about everything being a frog vs just being a repeatable value engine still love the flavor
As far as deckbuilding for an actual Standard environment and not early access, I can't imagine Three Tree City being right for this sort of deck. It's not free, it taps for colorless instead of an actual color so it can brick opening hands. You need to have 4 Frogs stay on the field before it's better than just a normal land, and at that point you can probably cast whatever you need to with your other lands anyway. I'd just turn those into more copies of Cavern of Souls, or maybe Fabled Passage. Clifftop Lookout impressed me in this video, although I imagine many real decks would prefer Freestrider Lookout.
A) Yes that game was a BLAST, weird deck v weird deck is what I love to watch B) was thinking about building frogs with some cloak stuff as a way to cheat out big cards. I played around with a bant cloak/blink deck and it was pretty fun, but was definitely missing some support, maybe frogs is enough to male it viable... probably not.
The deck is slow to get going but definitely powerful once it does, I can see it maybe winning the value battle against Golgari Midrange for instance Suffers against aggro of course, but maybe with some added removal and the 3/4 stunner guy being the amazing card it is it could steal some wins Definitely better than I expected for the archetype BTW it wasn't mentioned but splash portal on the cantrip frog while the Port Mage guy is on the table is a froggy Ancestral Recall lol
Perhaps slightly mumbled, but he was saying "FTK." It is a reference to an older magic card, Flametongue Kavu - a 4 mana creature that comes in and "destroys" an opponents creature. In this case he is using a bit of a shortcut to say that 3 stun counters is equivalent to removing it (much like the real ftk being 4 damage to destroy any creature). It is kind of like how people refer to a "2 mana 2/2 with no other relevant abilities" as a "grizzly bear." Or like in the mouse TNB Jim did, he referred to "Cheeky House-Mouse" as a "Savannah Lions" (a 2/1 for 1 mana). Fun side note, Flametongue Kavu can also target your own creatures like Dreamdew Entrancer, and in fact MUST target. So ftk was not so good against creatureless decks, or when your opponent just had no creatures out (whereas Dreamdew doesn't have to target, and either way targeting your own creatures can be an upside, so as we magic players like to say it is "strictly" better :p).
@@oogway1618 Awesome, thank you much. I am familiar with the grizzly bear and savannah lion references, but this (and the set review) seem to be my first time encountering "FTK". Super appreciate the explanation. I might have not been able to sleep tonight without it 😂
I've loved Jim's content for a long time, but I'm afraid I have to stop supporting him Aether Channeler slander is where I draw the line, how dare you say "it's not a great card" that's my boy right there😭
This deck just feels like a trap. You need both enough material that is meaningful to play, and also be able to come down on board every turn and not die. That's not likely in a cut down, go for the throat, and 17 other good removal format. You just won't be able to go over the top of aggro fast enough, and will just crumple to hard control, or the games will be so long and grindy that they might just stop being fun.
game two , is the epitome why MTG(A) is not fun to play anymore , decks , cards , combos , players that cant and wanna troll and waste time of their lifes and they think of this as fun .
That Seasons deck was obnoxious. I feel like that guy was playing the deck because during the streamer event they didn’t need to spend the wildcards to build it like they normally would. What a waste!

Seasons tribal is exactly the kind of shenanigans that can only happen in early access. I commend the opponent for their silly deck
it's basically what the deck! on this episode of what the deck - frogs vs seasons! XD
5C Seasons is tough for froggies, the amphibians have a tough time dealing with climates changing so fast
LMAO THE VINESTALK ENDING
Oh Jim, absolutely KEEP that was fun to watch. No idea if it was the game or your reactions made it peak entertainment, but it absolutely was lmao
Making FROGS the self-bounce deck was genius
That second game was absolutely hilarious

Jim loves Dreamdew Entrancer because it’s a suped-up fancy Berg Strider🤔🤔🤔

Frogs looking like a trap just like lizards.

I love hypnotoad. 🐸
Pump up the frogs. Things I never thought I would hear for 100$ Alex.

Can someone please explain to me what an FDK is? 1:55
P.S. Jim, I've been watching since like 2018. Still crushing it. Keep up the good work 💪

@@oogway1618 It also means "First Turn Kill" in games like yugioh, luckily that's not really a thing in mtg :)
JUST ANOTHER FROG FRIDAY!
game 5 was roooooough hahaha
That seasons deck was awesome haha. If they had a couple more wincons that deck could be hilarious
Brother can you spare some frög
I had two entrancers in my prerelease pool, and it killed. I played GW with splash for two entrancers, I went 5 and 2
Seasons would have been even better if they found their Chandra earlier.
That game 2 was absolutely deranged, KEEP!
The deck should be called rainbow connections because the rainbows and the frogs
Domain + Seasons = 4 Seasons Total Landscaping
Frogs seems closer to an aggro deck. Play more value one drops in the deck for that plan.
They lack aggressive 2-drops for that
Frogs for the win!!!!
Froge
Frogge
CMON THIS NAME WAS FOR A LEGACY DECK
Baylen brew when?
Hey Jim, speaking of the animal kingdom, wonder if you sent out the tokens from the Ant Legion supporters yet? Cheers 🙌
Working through the second batch this week!
36:45 God I hate that card so much, lol. The fun-ender.
No way, that was the funniest play of that whole game. 😂
Should of waited until Monday
!
Love ya Jim. Hate this deck.
Why haha
