Cheers thanks for watching and giving feed back im trying I’m learning as I go along plenty of river fishing, carp on the fly and still water naturals when it warms up 🤞🏼🙌🏼
Cool video, some amazing fish! Reminds me of New Zealand, some of the fish at that Fishery. I’ve never wanted to splash out on a 1000 pound rod, mine are 500 quid mark, do they really make much more difference from experience? just think they push prices up and know dudes will pay for it!
Cheers for watching and commenting James much appreciated! Urmmmm when it comes to rods it all comes down to personal budget on what you think you is sensible and weather you will get much use out of it I personally fish a few times a week so I get my use out of Them! There are some cracking rods out there for £500 mark nothing wrong with them like Tristans rod on there the vision still a maniac is a lovely still water rod but when you go up to the £1000 pound mark the rod are deffo lighter better cork and may be a better action/ accuracy but it all comes down to if the rod suits your casting style the best thing would be to go to a local tackle shop that allows you to cast out different rods reels and lines and make up your own mind on them let me know if you do sometimes you can even get these rods second hand as long as you can get the warranty would be worth it as I’ve done that a few times 🙏🏻
Another great video Luke, how did it feel to be upstaged by a mate? I really can’t wait to get back onto the bank… the tripod worked really well my friend
Hi Garry thanks for watching, subscribing and giving feedback much appreciated! Avington it’s £130 for a 4 fish ticket but you can release browns that don’t come off your ticket which means you can catch more than four fish on one ticket but you can also dispatch browns it’s at your own discretion the c&r only pond and and itchen carrier is alway included in on your ticket so you can always get a full days fishing in🙌🏼
Hi Wayne thanks for watching ding be daft ask away they are lures tied by Martyn Williams check his page out on Facebook he is the best! Once you get in to this you won’t look back Tristan did match fishing all his life now is fly only 😅
@@Full_on_flyfishing Thanx for the reply, 30yrs of match fishing 🎣 and I’ve packed it all in because my daughter bought me a days Fly fishing tuition at Meons Springs, anyway could you recommend a reel to match the 9’9 Vision Stillmaniac 6 weight up to the £200 markish ? I swapped a couple of Shimano reels for the rod, it feels like a well balanced bit of kit. Incidentally I’m walking distance from Avington Trout Fisheries and my mother in law lives 10 mins from the ‘ Lake of Menteith ‘ in Scotland so it would be a shame not to take advantage.
Hi rob thanks for watching and commenting again top man the drone footage was filmed by my friend Peter a few weeks ago at my bday get together but I didn’t make a video then I was concentrating more on the social side and beers 😜
Yeah deffo but that my opinion the rio grand elite has a shorter shooting head better for less false casts and casting big flies where as the rio gold has a longer head meaning more false casts etc but it’s all down to what matches the action of your rod and your casting style but yeah for my fast action rods grand elite all day!
Good question….I’ve always been hardy through and through! I really like both but this Helios 3D after a couple hours and I got used to it I’m swaying that way that they are better don’t get me wrong my hardy rods are still awesome and I love them but will be interesting when I upgrade rods in a few years to see what I go for! Just wish they wasn’t so expensive 😢 but always try a rod out before you buy it everyone’s different as you know! What rods do you favour / fish with? It’s always interesting for other peoples opinions! Cheers dan
I fully agree with Luke here defo try a fly rod at a shop if you can so you buy the right kit first time…..as soon as you buy and use a rod you can not return it and it loses half its value. I have owned most of the top brand rods over the past few years … Orvis Helios 3d, Orvis recon, Orvis Clearwater, sage method, sage igniter, sage x, hardy hbx, hardy zepherus, hardy ultralite x and a fair few airflo and wychwoods too …. I’m finally happy with my 5wt sage r8 and my custom Andy Banting 7wt … buying then selling rods is a mugs game [I know!] I love the sage r8 as it’s powerful but still good in close. Everyone is different and unless you have a rod in your hands it’s very hard to know if you are gonna like it
My second fave rod I ever owned was the Orvis Helios 3d in 5wt superb rod and powerful but in honesty the 5wt was really a 6wt and needed really aggressive lines to cast in close … everything else was great though….also no hook keeper ….why!!!! Lol
@barrbigplums WOW! you been through and spent some money on rods mate! Do buy and sell them or keep them then? Hopefully we go fishing soon I can have a cast of your sage mate 🙌🏼
Yes no hook keep I might have to get Andy Banting to add one on for me I use a Rio gram elite line on pretty much all my rods except my 4wt I have a Rio creek (amazing line very powerful line also) I do favour short shooting heads to be fair though what type of line works best with a sage rod?
Great video guys well done, that jump was epic lol🎣🐟🐟🐟🐟
Thank you for watching and giving feedback! Yes that jump was epic haha good day that was🙏🏻🎣
Beautiful day. Not a breath of wind. Excellent days fishing. 👍

Your editing is coming on in leaps and bounds Luke, as are the fish. ;)

Tristan was on 🔥 shame that third one came unbuttoned ,looked a good fish
Yes he was had a true red letter say happy to see him catch beautiful fish like that 🙌🏼
Great video mate! A quick question if you don't mind, what is the net that you use?
Cheers Jake appreciate you watching! My net is a McLean long reach with a rubber mesh best net about for one handed use built really well as well👌🏻
@@Full_on_flyfishing Cheers mate, I'm looking for a new rubber mesh net as my old one has fallen apart. Will have a look now - tight lines!
What weight rod is Tristan’s Stillmatic ?
It is a 7wt that’s your best all around fly rod size for still waters 👌🏻
Lovley fish, is that vision rod a #6 #7 or #8?
#7 it’s a cracking rod I just like teasing my cousin gotta have a laugh 😜
Another great video Luke, how did it feel to be upstaged by a mate?
I really can’t wait to get back onto the bank… the tripod worked really well my friend
Hahaha thanks for rubbing salt in the wound haha nah it’s all good he’s my cousin lovely to see him catch his PB 🙌🏼
Hi Luke. New subscribers. Enjoying the vids. How much is Avington these days must be 35 year since I have been down there. Am based in northumberland

@@Full_on_flyfishing cheers for that. Might have to have a visit this year.
Are you fishing dries or wet, sorry if this is a dopey question as I’ve just switched from course match fishing to fly

Some cracking brownies there Luke,Tristan's PB was a lovely specimen. Some drone work on this vid Luke, did you send one up or did you edit clips in.

Ah right, aye I watched Martyns video of your day out, good day had by all 👍
do you think the rio grand is better than the rio gold bro?

yeah my rods are fast action so think the grand will work well with it. have you tried any of the loop rods luke?
Yeah be perfect mate yeah I have I think it is the 7x correct me if I’m wrong but that was banging as well
Do you prefer the hardy rods or Orvis ?

Cheers for watching and commenting John you are allowed to release the browns all rainbow have to be dispatched 😜🤙🏻
Stocky bashing😃
That’s right👍🏼
