I played the first Mass Effect back in 2010 on the OG 360 and, as a girl, I had the same reaction as you when I found out I could play as a woman, I had no idea and I was so happy! Since then it became my favourite game series of all time. I'm so happy that more people are playing through it for the first time, going in without knowing anything about it is the best experience ever! :D

Soldier is pretty good for the first game especially I think, and if you do end up playing the other two games you'll be able to choose other classes for your character instead of solder if you want. (Tip for mass effect 1! level up charm (or) intimidation whenever you are able to, this helps with future dialogue options)
Lol did you enable Legendary Sensitive steering mode? I did and didn't realise the mouse actually steers the vehicle and not the camera view. 😅 I fell off the geth base at the top of the mountain 🤦🏻

If you want to be nice in conversations: pick the upper right dialogue options. Or the blue ones if you have enough points invested in charm. And by this point you've used the sniper rifle more than I did in the entire game.

I envy you getting to play this for the first time.. one of my favorite games/franchises. Tip: always investigate with the conversation wheel as it brings up more dialogue options and gives your more exp points. It seems like it throws a lot at you with the powers in battle etc but it all becomes second nature after so long. Play it in your free time with the music too and just really take it all in. This one is good mass effect 2 is the best in the series. 3 was meh to me lol. Enjoy this game tho it’s one of the best ones out there. Looking forward to you exploring lots of planets too. Tons of video potential.

My one piece of advice for you in this game is keep talking to Wrex to unlock his loyalty mission. He keeps telling you he doesn’t wanna talk about it and I eventually gave up. He leaves and does his own thing in ME2 if you don’t do it 😭😭😭. One of my favorite guys along with Garrus
If you don't like to take cover, being a Vanguard in ME2 and ME3 will turn your life much easier since Vanguard is made to use weapons and abilities in close range.
I've never played Mass Effect but watched people play it because I am also really bad with anything firearms in video games 😅 I once tried CoD and only got to the tutorials because it was an anxiety inducing disaster 🤷🏻♀️
I hope this becomes a series. I really wish she likes this game. It seems she feels the game is generic. At least play the second game. It has a much more compelling opening. Mass effect 1 is guilty of feeling very stilted
Mass Effect 1 is literally the best game in the trilogy by far (suck it ME2 and ME3 grovellers!), so glad you chose to play this one. I remember following all the pre-release stuff as a kid (back when videogames would have their own dedicated websites before releases), and then playing it and just having my mind blown, haha. Yay, you chose Sole Survivor too! Absolutely the most ASMR-friendly backstory hahaha! xD
[Only speaking generically so this is spoiler free] I suppose you listen to analytics, thus deciding to not continue for YT. Should you play more, do get into the story. The gameplay is ok but 88% of the experience is the story, I mean the dating sim app. In general you have your character's development and you choose who you socialise / romance with and thus has a lot of parallels to the Sims (but in space and with fighting). By the end, unlike games that you can press option A or option B, I feel this games presents some compelling reasons to choose either but by forcing the choice, you have to give up on something. Like the writers were given a lot of time to hash things out (that it isnt just two choices but thousands after you count up each tree playing out. See spoiler post to understand this better.)
SPOILERS: Michael Tucker and Alex Calleros have an eye opening interview some of the Mass Effect devs (original series and legendary ed). To understand how much thought and quality went into this game, consider watching this interview (cut to how complex the writing goes, global complexities): (spoilers afoot) th-cam.com/video/atGZ8-GjE1I/w-d-xo.html Some 'basic' dialogue being ones of the largest hurdles for devs as they have to check through 2 games worth of key decisions. Most people want to be lied to first, and maybe then see through to understand the underlining truths in a given magic act. That if you pull back the curtain for Mass Effect, maybe something is taken away from you than playing through 3 epic games. The choice is yours.
To your past self, and a bit of a spoiler, this is actually a dating sim. Thats why you see a lot of male Shepards being played by cishet guys lol. However you can explore queer relationships.
I love 1 and 2, I put a lot of hours into each, but had to Google which choices would give what consequence each time. I won't mention 3.... it's why I refuse to buy the Legendary Edition.
I love this trilogy and I love your videos but you are kinda butchering the game by skipping dialogue, not reading codex entries and not paying attention to the environment to be honest.
