  • ⚖️ Do you need a great lawyer? I can help! legaleagle.link/eagleteam ⚖️
Annalise Keating is an unorthodox law professor. Instead of being a “good” law professor or actually “teaching” she makes her students unpaid interns for her criminal defense law firm. Drama! Mystery! Legal technicalities! Today we’re going to review How to Get Away With Murder. Stay until the end for my Legal Realism Grade!
This one was a bear. It made me want to pull my hair out. This show is more soap opera than legal procedural. I’m glad I got through it, but I’m not sure I’m the same man as when i started. Does it get better over time? Would you like me to react to another one? Let me know in the comments!

▶ Why Indochino Suits? (50% off Premium Suits + free shipping) [legaleagle.link/indochino]: Off-the-rack suits NEVER fit right. Indochino makes fully custom suits that fit perfectly using any material I want, with all of the options I want. And they cost 1/3rd of what normal suits costs. I’ve purchased them with my own money for years, so I’m thrilled they are now a sponsor.
▶ Why Ties from TheTieBar? (Free shipping on orders over $50) [fave.co/2ImLY9I]: Normal ties are too fat. Skinny ties are too skinny. So these days I only wear ties that are exactly 2.5” wide. They are fashionable without being hipster. You see them in all of my videos. TieBar ties are perfect, come in every color I want, and never cost more than $19.
▶ Why these Tie Clips? [amzn.to/2WIQ6EE]: It’s really hard to find affordable tie clips that are the right size (1.5”), look good, and are great quality. These tie bars are all three. Plus the 3-pack gives a variety of styles. They pair perfectly with 2.5” ties from TheTieBar (above).
▶ Why these Pocket Squares? [amzn.to/2UfsKtL]: I like my pocket squares perfectly, well, square. Like straight-out-of-Mad-Men square. The only way to do that is with a stiffer material that keeps its shape. I’ve exhaustively tried dozens of pocket squares, and these are by far the best. It’s how I get the perfectly flat pocket square you see in my videos.

I get asked a lot about whether being a practicing attorney is like being a lawyer on TV. I love watching legal movies and courtroom dramas. It's one of the reasons I decided to become a lawyer. But sometimes they make me want to pull my hair out because they are ridiculous. Today I'm taking a break from teaching law students how to kick ass in law school to take on lawyers in the movies and on TV. While all legal movies and shows take dramatic license to make things more interesting (nobody wants to see hundreds of hours of brief writing), many of them have a grain of truth.
This is part of a continuing series of "Lawyer Reaction" videos. Got a legal movie or TV show you'd like me to critique? Let me know in the comments!

That's why I like "the rockie" in police dramas, ok, so as it's continued, it's become way too preachy & lost what made it great, but I love that it doesn't stick to the stereotypes, the hard arse instructor (Tim) gets a second rockie to train who is former military & so he goes the total opposite way, teaching her to appreciate butterflies & making her feel good about herself & when his first rookie, who he was super hard on confronts him about it, he explains to her that she needed to see the dangers, the new one already does & needs to see people as people, not enemies & it makes it clear that he is in fact a genuinely good instructor, genuinely responding to whatever his rookies need. Same with the students, hugely diverse, not narcissists & genuinely caring about the job, but all for different reasons

I think the combination of you as a lawyer doing this and the show showing what it shows is art. As a show they obviously can’t spend the time to explain all of the legal concepts so as an audience we just have to assume they’re right however you as a lawyer are explaining to us the legal concepts because that’s what you do on your platform. So it really makes sense, as an art form, that they do not explain the legal side of things even though they’re in a classroom. And it’s really great that there’s someone like you explaining the legal side on the Internet

For instance, one of the first thing he pointed out was how Asher couldn't be an intern for a Chief Justice. What Legal Eagle does not know, is that Asher is the son of a federal judge. It's not unlikely that a his father wouldn't pull strings for him to intern for another federal judge. But since this is the pilot, a lot of these things are unrealistic to us, the viewer.

    • @moviemaker1986
      @moviemaker1986 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

No, assumption means taking without much or any proof that a thing is true. Speculation means prior thinking or meditating on a subject before making a guess. Essentially, speculation means putting more logic or research behind an assumption. Still, both words deal with personal guesses, so the word "probably" gives no preference toward either term.
I can't know how much evidence gathering and logic Legal Eagle used to support his claim that non lawyers wouldn't find that particular bit interesting, but unless you personally helped him craft this episode, neither can you. :) But from the time given to that guess (the single line and then dropped), I'm going with "assumption" as the correct term. Speculation would probably have more time devoted to it, or else why use logic or do research and not share it?
Assumption is still the best term here. Objection sustained! 😂😂😂

The show is terrible altogether lol. Cringy acting and very unrealistic obviously over-dramatized scenes. Couldnt finish the first season.

Kinny Jackson the fact that you refer to lawyers and doctors as “handsome” suggests you believe these roles are to be fulfilled by men.

Objection! Does Ms. Jackson have an objection to " all these handsome lawyers and doctors on TH-cam"? I would like to see more "lawyers and doctors on TH-cam" OF COLOR and/or female. One love. Come on in,the TH-cam's fine!

It's like taking an algebra class and being asked to do calculus, and if you don't know it, then the professor is going to stare angrily at you.
