- I was in Fairbanks, Alaska for a few days and though I'd hit up the Value Village while I was there. I'm so glad I did! They had some decent Genesis and SNES games behind the case.

I forgot to mention, Splatterhouse aside, all the other Genesis games were $9.99 in that case, including Contra, Gaiares and the others.
I would have snagged those for that too! The other day I found General Chaos for $9.99 at Arc I did not hesitate! Love your channel dude! 🕹📺🤓👍🏽

That book behind Splatterhouse 3 is 'The Body: A Guide for Occupants' by Bill Bryson. It's an OUTSTANDING book about anatomy. Both informative and entertaining as all get out.
One of my co workers left me a bag of genesis games when he quit on the spot. I found them on my locker on my lunch break. A great stash of games i mostly didn't have which included a boxed Splatterhouse 2. Never heard from the guy again to thank him, but it was a fun play :)

Very hard to find a thrift store these days that doesn’t use price charting or eBay to look up their games. Looks like you got some good deals though in the end!
I swear, every thrift shop in America has at least one copy of Ecco the Dolphin on Game Gear.
So crazy to see an old beat up copy of Sub Terrainia in the wild! I have 2 copies, one to play and the other factory-sealed. Someone will be pleasantly surprised when they pick that one up.
If you swing through Anchorage I recommend Anchorage House of Hobbies. Its a little bit of a tangent from video games but I see video gamers and Remote Control car guys in both places sometimes. Not only that they've been around since the beginning of RC. Family Owned.

I see Thunder Force III there; years and years ago (really before retro collecting was what it is now) my grandmother got me a CIB Japanese copy from a thrift store here in our town (Northern Ireland). I think she might've thought it was a VHS, just got it on the off chance it was something that would interest me. Still have it today, was a pretty cool find in the oddest of circumstances.
The AD&D SpellJammer book is from 1989. I had them as a kid. But they were stolen.
That sucks. The book in the case should be a boxed set. My favorite setting by far.

I go in there once a week to check things out. I've gotten a few Dreamcast games, a HD DVD drive for the xbox360,, as well as a jasper. Cleaned it up and runs prefect.

Yeah except its a fake contra game. They slapped the name on another game that was abandoned lol I forget the name bit theres some good videos out there about it.

Ive heard too that the Snes version is way preferred. I cant say as I havnt played it. But playing HC at sleepovers as a kid was so much fun, up there with turtles in time, Biker mice from Mars( underrated), and the best game in its day that has not held up Golden eye.
There are a couple of pawn shops in Fairbanks that always have great finds.

The only sega stuff I found at my local value village (it's called savers over here) was just the loose sega genesis systems model 1 and model 2 respectively never found any actual cartridges though
Also the amount of nick tapes I saw were pretty neat don't run across those ren and stimpy tapes often

I went to savers a few weeks ago which is the same company as value village and didn’t see too many video games at all. Must depend on the location.
Love value village. Made some awesome finds there. And the one that I’ve been going to is relatively new and depending on who’s working there, stuff will come out for great prices, or eBay prices. In terms of video games, got link to the past for $3! As well as some nes games, all $3. Got a game boy pocket and Pokémon yellow for $3. Got a vintage my buddy doll for $2, which for me was a great find. Also have found some vintage action figures for cheap, like street sharks, turtles and motu. Just got to go on the regular 👍
Nice vid John, some nice finds! You can tell that they have different employees pricing things, and it's quite laughable sometimes. I've seen common nes games for $29.99, but at the same store found eternal darkness for gamecube complete for $2.99.
Yup that second hand place does mark up items that don't need to be that high on the dollar 😮.

Dude...that SNES controller was pristine compared to some of the ones I've find in the goodwill outlets.
It pisses me off when I see donated items go on sale for ebay prices.

@JohnRiggs 3:04 - 3:09 that's an Apple Studio Display CRT. Not sure of the diagonal screen size. I can understand why you mistook it for an iMac at first/quick glance because iMacs of that era (iMac G3) came in that color as well.

Yeah we have a goodwill near me and I found the Witcher 3 wild hunt for PS4 disc was in excellent condition for $4.99 not sure how much they really go for nowadays

And when Value Pillage checks eBay we are paying retail. Mine is the worst. Only found a decent game cheaply the other day but I think the manager was off that day so that was why.
2:52 - That's a Logitech controller for computers. Good controller, although in my case, the shape gives me sore knuckles from where my middle fingers rub up against the front curves.
2:56 - Can someone please explain the appeal of snow cones to me? Yeah, flavored ice sounds good in theory, but what you actually get is plain ice with a puddle of syrup in the bottom of the paper cone/cup. I have never in my life seen a snow cone, where the syrup actually soaked into or stayed on the ice to actually give it flavor. That's what Italian Ices are for.
3:36 - My mother's friend's son had an Intellivision II with the voice module. One day he asked if I wanted all his Intellivision games. I accepted and when I asked why he was giving them away, he said that the power supply for the console died. I asked if he still wanted to keep the hardware itself and his mother said "Oh, we already threw it all out." ARGH!

Value village and Savers (Both the same company), their prices USED to be good now they are a few bucks shy of retail. I used to go every Tuesday and I just have backed off as their prices are not thrift store prices anymore including Goodwill as well.
I'm thinking Metal Jesus would've grabbed that SSX for the Wii.

Whenever goodwill near me does that I just take the label off grab some other random game and tell the youngest employee there this one is missing label. 99% of the time they’ll mark it similar to the other games in this case it’d be 9.99. Kinda stealing but those places are getting those items free so no bad karma for me

I was about to say if you didn't grab that Splatterhouse 3 and you didn't have the game, I would've been upset with... probably... not really.
When employees at these secondhand stores price these games at retail their defeating the purpose of the store. People go to these stores to get away from paying retail. Local Salvation Army had Back to The Future for nes priced at $45. I wrote that place off.
The person doing the pricing must have thought the Xbox One games were to a system much older than the Playstation 4?!?!
