Naz is my top played hero. Toad build is great against melee heavy teams, toss 5 toads in someone’s face even without any extra damage on hops chunks their hp. Plus the pushing power is insane. One use of toads on the side of a minion waves drops it. Plus zoning, people are terrified of those big toads!
agreed, whan you have a obj zone control and the enemy team is full of melee , toad demolished everything, but if the enemy team had ranged and mages is not really worth, unless you want to concentrate on buildings, there toads shines at destroying them.
As a Toad Build Supremacist, the goal of Toad Build is and always has been pure area control and pushing power. It's not a build for if you're the solo dps.
I would add that taking a side angle can really help with making them harder to dodge. Because then you can force them to go through toads to get out rather than just walk straight back.
I agree. Denying territory and pressure the opponent by overwhemling them with constant damage is not bad if your team can work with it as well.
It is not a build that kills anything fast, but it can end up dealing a lot of damage regardless.
@fendelphi given how much of a macro and soaking loving gamer Pally is, I'm REALLY surprised he hate this build
It’s great if u go against triple melee
As a primary spider build player, this was the biggest adjustment for me. Once I realized I had to play differently I found I enjoyed toad build on the right maps.
I was always a fan of toad build. By wrapping them around corners right you can get massive burst in 1 spot, probably the best wave clear, and huge hero damage if you can get it in a choke point w a zombie wall
Really seems like late-game, the enemies stops paying attention to dodging the toads. Early, it seemed they were really focused on it. But as their kits expanded, or fatigue from paying attention to it that far into the game, they just stopped caring. Almost walking directly into them.
That part where your team rescued you was beautiful. Like the climax in an action movie or something.
Toad build is amazingly powerful if you just focus on 2 things:
1. Get 35 quest stacks ASAP, which you did not do here! That means getting right in an enemy hero's face and hitting 3 at a time, even if you must ignore lanes for the first few minutes. It could be done by end of the first objective, with no minions in the way.
2. Toads of hugeness at level 7. That's it.
Once those 2 requirements are met, your wave clear, building siege, and area control are MASSIVE. You release a wall of death very frequently, that enemy heroes either back off to avoid, or take massive damage if they don't.
This is always my build when there is lots of bruiser/tank melee enemies. I'd never take this with too much ranged or assassins/support.
I love how the "Wait wait wait!" meme turned into one of the most epic saves I have seen a team do. I watched that part like 30 times. Your entire team just appeared.
That still is the most epic shit in HOTS I've seen so far
I like Toad build specifically on Cursed Hollow a lot of choke points to send them through and zoning is a lot more beneficial there then most maps, also good for contested grave golem fights.
My advice for landing more toads is using it the second a melee champ hard engages on your team. Second thing would be trying to find better angles, I like side flanks quite a bit when playing toads it makes dodging them a lot harder, you need to find angles that leave the enemy team with no easy way to get away from them. I also find myself mounting more often on this build and if I don't fear someones damage or know their spells are on cooldown just charge into them and shotgun toads into their face.
"I shouldn't be doing this!" Then the Justice league shows up.
17:52 main character's plot armor activated here!
Hey Pally! Id love to see a Dehaka deep dive next, featuring such classics as Tankhaka, Gankhaka and What-the-Haka!
And speedohaka.
Pally's macro game is unbeatable, but I'm always clawing at my face as I watch him make simple mistakes in team fights
My guy waits absolute ages to take his talents, often while fighting someone. I see people doing this in league, I see pally doing this in hots, and it breaks my heart...
The reason why I love toad build in 2 words: Choke Points. 😩
Pally doesn't see it but watch Hanzo hunt down Zera on the mini map starting around 20:08. Was a slick play 😂
I am a fan of all builds of Nazeebo
i like the toads on engages and counter engages. you give your enemies the choice to be affective in combat or walk. you want to chase a kill, then you need to pay the toad tax. get stunned or rooted, toad tax. want to reach your allies for heals, toad tax
Pally! I learned so much from you on Hots, forever grateful. But this time I don't agree with you. I am Nazabwua main and frogs is my favourite build, I do the Spider one ONLY if they are poke/ranged heavy (and sometime I still prefer frog in this case) but the frog one is amazing when enemy team has at least 2 or more melee.
At the start of the game focus more on Frog quest than other things. Enemy team will underestimate the dmg (and they are right) so they will likely take some frogs in da face without trying dodging. Use the first team fights to land as many frogs as possible and be a bit aggressive, close the gap and shoot the frogs at melee range when possible, so they take all of them in the face and you start to quickly build up the quest.
Mid-endgame he becomes a god. I 99% prefer the other ulti since he remains a siege beast also without but you can safely land some crazy dmg and wipe entire teams and also use it fore siege damage if you feel like :D.
Also, most of the time I prefer Ice Block. You can avoid tons of dmg and play some neat tricks if you land all your skills and then iceblock you can probably survive a gank and get away also with a kill...
Thanks for all your videos! Keep up the good work :)
I can't believe this. Video is six minutes in, and Pally hasn't figured out that you need to shotgun the toads right in the target's face?
*shoots shotgun into open field*
"I CAN'T HIT ANY TREES! WHY WON'T THEY GROW IN FRONT OF ME?!"
You gotta wade into the forest.
I'm really enjoying these deep dives for different builds. I just hope my good ol buddy Thrall is coming soon
it's just so satisfying to see the huge crash at the end of their hops and the major damage to the building or hero unlucky enough to get stuck. Zoning people out and absolutely nuking everything in the path is fun.
I used to like this one the most. Because it's just slow but easiest to land. It is mainly a siege build for sure once you have your guest. I'ts just a solid poison build and with the right setup, it can be disgusting.
at 16:30 Pally does what the build is meant to do, zoning or forcing the enemies to take damage, and it is quite good.
I love toad build for two huge reasons:
1. Absurd area denial. Toad build deals an enormous amount of damage in an area that allows you to prevent the enemy team from taking any advantageous positioning while also dealing an absurd amount of siege damage.
2. As mentioned, toad build has an incredible amount of siege damage that can be dealt. This is further increased by taking toads of hugeness and if you really wanna meme around a bit you can take vile infection (personal favorite, though gargantuan or spirit talent are probably better). The damage coupled with the fact that you can play incredibly safe makes getting an exp/sieging advantage makes toads fairly potent
I love playing Naz, though I do mostly use spider build. I do build toads for ARAM or maps where there is a group objective or something to capture, because they zone well, and can do alot if aimed properly.
Ya just don’t respect the toad build till you watch a whole wall crumble cause of them. Not everything has to be PvP!
best cases for toads: vs buildings that don't dodge.
vs heavy melee, like a butcher charging you: cast toads before he hits, self cast zombies as he hits, then cast toads again on trapped butch, bam!
I do not play the game as I used to, but I love watching your videos.
If you play todes for 10 - 15 matches, it will become your favourite build. You devastate buildings with it. For pvp, don't think of it as Nova's Snipe. Just keep shooting todes towards a ball of enemies in a teamfight, and don't pay attention on whether you hit or not. Eventually you will understand the power of toads. 🐸🐸🐸
Nice diablo block wall 15:45 well done :D good content
I mentioned this on stream, but it got buried- point the toads away from you and retreat through them. Much more effective against heavy dive.
away from the enemy
I played toads until level 70 Nazeebo, then found out about spiders and never looked back. Super funny video!
Toad build is area denial. The problem is you have to play super aggressive, using the toads like a shotgun until you get the first half the quest done. Once you get the extra frogs, and the frogs get bigger talent you just shit back and spam them keeping every enemy away from everything or get chunked for half their hp.
Pally, "I only did 80% of the Mei's HP in a single ability use. Garbage" :D
Damn this was an intense frog game. Great to watch. Loved how scary the enemy team was.
I had heard of toad build being referred to as a shotgun build years ago. It's probably one of the intended strategies.
I really really love seige characters, when I play nazeebo all I play is toads. I just push endlessly and when I get vile infection I feel unstoppable in the amount of area damage I bring to teamfights.
I like it because it is satisfying visually to use most of all. And then the area control and DoT feels pretty good too
The accidental mid bait was hilarious
I always looked as toads as a similar skill to Kerrigans stun I mostly use it in conjunction with wall so people can’t move away.
I’m definitely more of a spider build fan
I primarily play Nazeebo in ARAM, and toad isn't bad there. The constant team fighting in tight quarters means the damage is easy to apply; people don't dodge nearly as often as they could. I still prefer spiders, but toad's okay.
To be honest in ARAM I pick ALWAYS Toads. It's insane.
On certain maps like the one you played on that are denial is insane. It’s just other builds are a lot more versatile which makes this road build very niche and not always a good pick
Yeah, and while walking away from your toads, that Gul’Dan wasn’t participating in the fight…
What gul dan?
i prefer the thing in the ice build. its just so good. 1 thing, 4 big voodoo or blood ritual depending on the map, 7 dead rush for them zombie rush, 10 i like spirit with the extra spell power but again map/matchup gargy is dope, 13 ice block ususally, 16 spider colony and then 20 is quest if you have it unless they a hard heal comp and you have no healing reduction cuz then that level 20 spirit SLAPS
As someone who mainly does aram sporadically nowadays. Toadzeebo is a MONSTER at siege
17:45... I mean... I'm not big on fishing, but I've heard frogs are a good bait :D
Also, Pally kinda missed half the times where his toads did damage :D
And yeah, my personal opinion is that Toad build deals a lot of damage, but does not secure kills very well
They aren't that bad, but you simply need to become a melee hero to play it effectively, to which end the Guardian Toads and Big Bad Voodoo help a lot indeed :)
I know I am several months late, but I can tell you your main issue with using toads is your cast range. You're slinging them off too early and from too far away. The better strategy is to bait them in or away with your spiders, wait for them to refocus someone else on your team, then close the gap and ideally hit them with a majority of the toads point-blank. Think of it like a shotgun, the further away you are when firing the less effective your shot is. Rooted/stunned/zombie walled enemies are obviously the most choice targets, but you'd be surprised at how easy it is to land every single toad on a regular bruiser/tank that's just trying to do their job. Let the target come to you. Hope this helps if you ever play Toad Cannon again.
Can we just agree that pally is a great commentator ❤
This video really shows it perfectly ❤
I love watching all these heroes vids bud...i think your next deep dive should be Mieve, Uther or Anduin
Give me that silver lining in a Valeera video! You know you want it! Love you Pally. Keep up the good work.
Pally, I am an abathur main. I have almost 200 games of just abathur. Can you deep dive him please. Long time viewer and subscriber. :)
I'd like a Brightwing deep dive if possible. One of my favorit characters and her build variety seems to be good enough. But I don't know how Pally feels about'er
I play toad build when against a team with multiple melee/frontline characters, that is where it shines imo
You are throwing toads kinda in a weird way (: you gotta prethink more and use the area and terrain to your advantage ! Plus use 1 e on minion wave from the side and its all you need (: Vs range and fast heroes like zera and genji, you can " protect " youself with toads if you walk in and with them after still use and make more space with the next e
The goal is area control. If they don't remove themselves from the vicinity, they die. Same for spider build btw, but without the skill of landing a Q and with WAY more damage. But what should I expect from the man who doesn't know that Gargantuan has been the meta for like.. 5 years?
Why are you so pressed? Seek therapy. You ruined your own day. Kinda weird
Chill bro
I love toads against melee heave comps on maps with nice choke points. It can absolutely ruin the day for someone like Uther who already struggles with dots. Its def the most situational build zeebo has.
Toad build is a high skill area control playstyle.
Zeebros other builds are a bit more point and click.
I feel like after watching all of these, the most fun you had was spiders. As someone who never really plays Nazeebo, if I ever decide to pick him up, I think I might lean toward spiders because it looks fun and based on this series
Problem with Spider build is that you have to be very good at landing them. Practice a lot the timing because if you miss it then you have basically no dmg with the other skills.
A Gaz deep dive would be pretty cool.
My pick for a deep dive would be Leoric bu tbh I don't know if he has any different builds, I always just pick the Pally build and try to make it work
Would looooove to see a Whitemane or Chromie Deep Dive!
we need a playlist of pally playing his least favorite builds
toad is great on small map because your goal is to double soak as much as possible. its a late game ability and can scale. goal is to get to 35 stacks as quick as possible and toad is great for pushing. you want to go toads with a lot of melee and against DW or Sam for stacks. I always go toad with lvl 10 Gur for push lane power. He is very weak against Zer, Val, and illidan and nova.
had a little fun with this build, ended up 12k health over 500 stacks was a blast!
I love toad build. It is not the most bombastic K/D farming build out there but that zoning in team fights is priceless :)
when you ran mid around 16:30, your team came up with epic save. You had no right to survive that haha
Would love to see some Artanis and Varian ~8}
Area denial my dude, that and insane pushing power. It's not always the best choice but it really has it's uses!
As others have said you need to change mindset a bit though.
I love seeing a good toad build but I never can pull it off myself
cant wait for Alarak and Li Ming deep dives
I know it's not really mentioned in your videos but, Toad Build is the absolute GOAT in ARAM! XD
18:20. A team of heroes in a storm? 😭😂
it's never going to not be funny to me that there's an "unstoppable" status effect, but stasis effects override it with "stopped"
I would love to see that tier list of hated builds.
Fun stuff. What about goulish daniel next?
would love to see some maiev, Q talents just feel like RNG sometimes. but the clone and W talents go hard
Toads early game feels bad for sure. Later game they’re a lot better. In big teamfights, it’s not uncommon that enemy players just don’t dodge them and their damage really stacks up then, especially if you have the level 20 175 stacks talent done.
The damage isn’t necessarily meant for killing the opponent outright, it just makes them weak for allies to kill or forces them back to heal up, preventing them from being a threat.
Not a fan of the build, but it works in the right situations.
The way to use toads is not to attempt to poke, but to disengage, or cause chaos when the enemy commits.
Unironically, they are zoning tools.
I don't like the level 1 talent, precisely for that reason though. Better to just get range. Helps with the siege use as well.
The level 1 Toad talent does improve his zoning by providing you with 2 extra(+66%) toads for a wider zoning area, and adds the utility of reducing enemy hero damage(up to 25%).
Personally, I would say that the range increase talent is best used if going for the Zombie build(makes it easier to set up), but of course it does not stop you from using the standard Toads to zone as well.
@@fendelphi It might eventually improve the singular spell. But it encourages you to care about it hitting rather than zoning, and thus makes it frustrating to use.
@@SangoProductions213 Yes, that is the trade-off with quests. No immediate benefit, and eventually a reward.
But on the right maps and team comps, it is not hard to get the first 35 stacks early.
@@fendelphi I'm talking about the psychology of the effect, in case that hasn't been obvious.
Cry havok and let loose the frogs of war!
Toad build when playing should be seen as more of a Defensive playstyle. If you go on the offensive with them you will get bad results. If you think about it. Every time you used them to Zone or defend yourself from incoming damage you where getting great results. Plus its the best at pushing down buildings.
love these pally thanks!!
the only times i played Naz with this build is when the enemy team is like 4 of them melee or something
I'm really enjoying the videos and the info in the comments.
The only toad talent I like is Guardian. Unless I need block for something specific it's nice to just sorta have 30 armor in fights. Nazeebo's chunky health really gets value outta that 30%. Otherwise, the other two skills have bigger impact and areeasier to use, so why stress yourself out with toads?
The real key to using toads, is to attempt to hit your targets. While you're not doing that, Pally, they won't be be terribly effective.
I’m a Things of the Deep/Zombie Wall kinda guy. But I may try Toads for the luls
Toads are the perfect build to defend objectives on maps like Cursed Hollow.
The only reason I like to play toads is because I think toads are cool lol. Spiders is probably the best build in my mind, by a large margin. Last time I played was in 2017.. your videos are making me interested in getting back into the game
Hanzo and Diablo were so frickin good this game
Toad is all about controlling space, it doesnt matter that much if you land your things but if enemies want to fight you they have to respect the toads
Don't get me wrong Pally I love your videos but this was hard to watch.
Seeing you rage at a build and blaming the build for it, rather than your inability to understand it, was very annoying.
46 stacks at 13 minutes in is not good. The quest is top priority, as it makes your splitpushing far more powerful as well, and knowing where to position and what areas to deny is key. Planting yourself somewhere and saying "You will not be allowed to go this way without taking an insane amount of burst damage" is how you deny infinite value from the enemy team.
You don't want to go toad build when the enemy team has ZERA & GENJI.
You want to go toad build when you need siege damage, but if the enemy team is a DIVE COMP, it's not a good look.
25% damage reduction, 30 armor, double health from big voodoo: this seems like its the "I'm going to get focused" defensive build.
Why expect hero damage while using a siege/zoning build???
I'm a HUGE toad fan. They're just so funny looking
Kind of wish that the toad quest also gave toads more speed.
I swear every Naz I've every played with has done Toad build, if it isn't his most popular build then I guess I'm just getting unlucky in games
I will just keep asking for a Cassia series until it finally happens
Toad build, imo, thrives on maps where you need to fight over controlling a point/the objective. I.E Warsong Gulch, Infernal Shrines, Dragon Shire, Volskaya, Etc.
From a pure viewing perspective. The zombie wall build was more fun to watch because they uproot and do stuff. Spider builds are also fun to watch because every skillshot is a risk/reward moment. Toads was the most boring but, for all I know as just a viewer, Pally might be playing it wrong and I'd be none the wiser.
He is indeed playing it wrong
I think the real key here is 11:40 when he zoned two enemy DPS off the objective using exclusively toads but thinks it's silly because they technically did no damage
