- Yes, this is a real thing. Ryosuke Takahashi's Fastest Typing-theory came out in Japan in the year 2000 for PC, Mac, and PlayStation 2. Drift racing, non-stop eurobeat, and typing tutor combined!

The company that currently owns the rights to Initial D's music claimed all rights to my original upload and then slapped a copyright claim on it. I disputed it in every way I could, but they still refused to lift the claim, saying that it wasn't fair use.
I would have dealt with it and left it up had they not proceeded to disable all embedding of the video, applied a bunch of restrictions on who could watch it around the world, and also added forms of advertising I am not okay with.
So that's why I've reuploaded this with the gameplay's background music removed. I also took the opportunity to add in a small section comparing it to Mavis Beacon's driving minigame, because why not. Thanks for the understanding, copyright claims are annoying!

I love that (despite your name) you didn't do the lazy thing that many game reviewers do when they are faced with a foreign game and just say "I have no idea what any of this says." Taking the time to understand what is written down gives so much better of a review experience, even for something so odd and out of nowhere as this. Really sets you apart!
Heh, yeah I really don't see much excuse for ignorance seeing how easy it is to just point a smartphone at your screen and use a translator app these days :)

The original video of this made me look for the actual anime, which I am almost finished watching. Almost into the 5th stage so 19 ish episodes left.
You should just make a version where you sing bad covers of the original songs
MrHack4never or render em all thru a badly played recorder, but that's definitely not Clint's way to deal with this kinda bulshittery.
Or just replace the euroshite with real music played on real instruments.

Odd that you get hit with a copyright claim yet there are many many channels that have the Initial D music up, even full episodes of the Anime that seem to have been left alone.
Magna Ryuu It’s a copyright claim, not a copyright strike as I understand it. You can still have the video up but not make money from it.
It means the music company’s claim all the ad revenue from the video, but the video can stay up. My personal channel mostly has video runs of the arcade games (that has Eurobeat music from the games). All of them have copyright claims and are demonetized.
I assume LGR wants the ad revenues, which is fair, so he rather reuploads them without the video and get the ad revenue than have the one where he doesn’t make any money.
It was a manual claim, too. So that means someone really wanted to screw Clint over rather than an algorithm tagging it.

From his comment on it it wasn't really the ad money. Though he still deserves to profit on his work and it's not like it was pirating the anything. They put a whole bunch of restrictions on the video(like no embedding, like for websites) and ads he didn't approve of. They refused to accept it as fair use. Frankly it was a pretty messed up thing to do. It was a review that was pretty darn positive so it's pretty insane doing what they did.

It certainly seems that some Japanese companies have a VERY poor understanding of US copyright law, and unfortunately TH-cam doesn't seem to care about properly enforcing US copyright law which only encourages bad behavior from rights holders and copyright trolls.
I'd guess it's from a western copyright holding company. Afterall a lot of the tracks on the Initial D OST are from non Japanese artists (Like Dave Dodgers, It's called Eurobeat for a reason)
All the Eurobeat tracks featured in Initial D are licensed by Avex, which also had the rights to the Initial D anime, so I'm not surprised that Avex would have people going every video tagged with "eurobeat" or "Initial D" and copyright strike them.
I once knew a couple of amazing Initial D Typing Trainer players, real fans of japan. had a damned good time with them, thanks for reminding me dude.

there's not many youtubers i feel happy about supporting but these videos make me so happy. there's something so entertaining for me - a product of the late nineties -- to see a lot of the retro computers and hardware you unbox and mess around with. i remember all of the dingy boxes computer games and programs came in and i remember pulling up a chair in my computer room to install some of my favorite games. now that im grown, coming online to see you do this same kind of thing with the same sense of joy that i had when i was a kid brings me back to such a happy time in my life. :')

Well Clint, I have never read a manga or watched an anime in my life (just never occurred to me to try....) but I got really curious about what Initial D is so I checked out the funimation channel and damn, I am well into watching the series and I admit that I am enoying it immensely. I think it also helps that I love the game Need for Speed Underground 2. I even went back and acquired the Corolla and I am doing it up to look like the fabled 86 (I know, I know but what the hell, I am really enjoying myself). Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

At first I thought this is a new Initial D typing game. Then I quickly realised this is the same game then I read the description and your first comment to find that this is a re-upload due to copyright sh*t. I watched anyway to find which scene was altered because of the music and which scene was added. I was not disappointed and highly amused :) Thanks, Clint!

I wonder if the person who content ID'd you realized that he would have had more people listen to it through your video than anyone else has ever had on the face of the earth, and in preventing you from spreading it around the world, now noone will ever hear the splendor of said song, dying to know who the artist is, wanting so badly to purchase their entire discography off of iTunes 8 times over each? Ah...but people just don't think, do they?
Most likely that "person" was Avex, the company that owns the rights for every single Super Eurobeat made so far. They are ridiculously strict when it comes to copyright. I think they are also the company who told to every single internet shop out there to not ship their CDs and DVD/BDs to countries that aren't Japan.

Then again, its hard to find Japanese companies that aren't assholes about copyrights and trademarks.
There's apparently only one I know of- Falcom. Why I'm using their music in my videos and am actually willing to stream their games.
I think Zun/IOSYS is lenient with music from Touhou as well because there's all the uploads, covers and remixes, but I haven't looked into it to confirm.
