Before 16 century there's may Zong in sikkim, Darjeeling and Kalimpong rule by chiefs among Limbu,Lepcha and Mangar.. The original history and people lost there identity after Namgyal dynasty came from Tibet in around 16 century. Ancient Pre history actually Darjeeling means ' Tajenlung ' mean the stones that 'talk to each other' by Khambu And Limbu and it meaning not derived from Tibetan language.. Like many things from sikkim we lost our pre history after 16 century.
With due respect of Magar association, there’s no such written document to prove that Phuntsok Namgyal had attack Magar raja. Phuntsok himself was not aware that he was a king. He was coronated by 3 lamas in the Yoksum. I wander how come an ordinary person who was recently coronated can attack or declare war. The Namgyal dynasty of 333 years had never fought war I guess. CHO means leader of Buddhist religion and GYAL means representative of people. Being living in a secular country we must respect all religions. Personally been this place during Chanling sahab visit but shouldn’t defame Phuntsok Namgyal.
Even LIMBU history is trying to deleted from DARJEELING, SIKKIM. KHAMBU history is deleted. The mentality of WB GOVERNMENT and CENTRE GOVERNMENT is not good for INDIAN NEPALI .
After this attack, the Magars dispersed around India and Bhutan (some stayed in Sikkim) My forefathers moved to Gangtok. But it's sad that not much people know about Magar existence before the Namgyal dynasty. In History and Culture of Kirat People, Iman Singh Chemzong elaborates that when Magars arrived in Sikkim they built fortifications, called Mangardzong, to protect their settlements. They established Mangar rule in various parts of the land, including Sikkim, and Darjeeling. There are evidences that they also had off spring with the Lepchas. There is a clan called Mongormu among the Lepchas, and there are linguistic affinities among the Mangars, Lepchas and Limbus. Mangars were credited for introducing the sweet potato into Sikkim. The Lepcha call it mangarbook or the potatoes brought by the Mangars.
Namgyal Dynasty were invaders from Tibet, anyways we all are Sino Tibetan Tribes be it Magar Gurung Bhutia Rai Limbu etc. We migrated from Tibet during Bön era & Bhutias came later on after the arrival of Buddhism in Tibet.

There is no history of sikkim before 1642 ...Mangar were there before 1642...History of mangar was deleted from history of sikkim.
