    There’s something (tangible or intangible) about their finishing and dial that wins me over. The pilot design is something they also nailed over the decades. Now this is smaller, thinner, with adjustability and enough water resistance. All around with character. Congrats - keep it to enjoy it. Cheers.

      A moment of your time fellow owner of this watch. I’ve just sent mine back for replacement for the issue described…
      Upon starting and stopping the Chronograph, the hour dial jumps forward slightly thus not measuring elapsed time accurately. Somewhat praying to hear from another user of this watch that their’s does not do this!
      Please try a proper Chronograph function test, letting it run for a couple of hours, starting and stopping it a couple of times (not resetting) then letting it run further still.

    A stunner no doubt, as you rightly pointed out the only real "issue" is they removed the anti magnetic property. For me, I could have lived with it had it been any other model, but an IWC pilot without the anti magnetic measure is an issue.

    IWC dress watches, and pilot watches are in my opinion some of the best. They make some amazing complications, really beautiful dials, the finish is amazing and their own unique timeless designs. I own a black dial Portofino and would like to add Portugueser chronograph either a red or green dial at some point. I am also really hoping they give the Ingenieur a face lift and some love here soon. I feel like they are leaving a lot of money on the table there. I respect them not chasing trends, but I don't think at this point the Gerald Genta designs are a trend. They are here to stay. To have that in their catalog and not capitalize on it seems crazy to me, and hopefully not something they sit on much longer. Great video and congrats on the new timepiece. It's beautiful brother.

    • @BruceWilliams

    • @rickyromano6659
      @rickyromano6659 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BruceWilliams That would be a good idea. There are not many actual Genta designed integrated bracelet sports watches. We all of course know the Nautilus and Royal Oak, but not many people know Genta himself designed the IWC Ingenieur, originally released in 1976. I hope we don't have to wait until 2026, but imagine the hype of a 50 year anniversary if done well, and marketed correctly? It would be insane.

    Great video, great review and great watch! Congrats!
    Quick correction, this calibre doesn’t feature a vertical clutch, the cal. 69380 utilises an oscillating pinion to connect the gear train to the chronograph train, just like the 7750. The oscillating pinion is similar to a horizontal clutch, but does so with but does so with fewer parts and resulting in a simpler clutch mechanism.

    Marvellous choice! I got it in green a few weeks ago 🥂
    I do have one small technical issue I’ve noticed, and wondered whether you seen or heard of this on other Chronograph watches.
    It seems that when using the Chronograph to time say a few hours of something, but with a pause of the timer somewhere within its use, the 9 o’clock hour dial will have slightly crept ahead and will NOT be properly aligned with the elapsed minutes of the Chronograph eg as the minutes dial approaches ‘zero’ and three hours of timing is about to be elapsed, the hour dial will have already crept ahead of 3 hours 😬

    • @g4ld3r

    I have this watch for about 6 months now .
    I love it but I think it’s a little thick and heavy when used with the bracelet. I will purchase a leather or textile strap from IWC (because of the quick change system) and it will become much more versatile and easy to use.

  • @fadiinspace
    @fadiinspace 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    An important move by IWC with the ,apparently, trend of going smaller. However they still missed the mark a little:
    It is too thick. A slimmed down 1-1.5 mm would be great
    A longer power reserve and anti-magnetism as you stated.
    While 41, the long lugs make it still wear large. Looks great on Bruce’s wrist but for the rest of us with petite wrists, it’s simply a no win situation
    But, the bracelet, that is another issue. It is just phenomenal by looks and feel. Better than rolex jubilee IMO
    And you did’t even mention the quick change system.
    So good move in the right direction but still waiting for the extra mile.

      I think ppl focus on in-house this or that, specs without actually trying it on. It always amazes me, for example, the difference I finishing between an IWC and a Tudor (and pre G Kern Breitling). But you may not see it or notice it instantaneously. Also, think about how versatile these pilots are, and that they have dressier options w a ton of character, heritage (for those who care about that), options (Portugiesers go from 40-45, pilots from 36-46), etc. very underrated, but their “marketing assault” on the pilot watch segment may be changing that. I may not agree bc they are preaching to the converted (me) but makes sense to broaden the base. Cheers.

    • @rfgf72
      @rfgf72 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@polygoncoco while they are associated/known for larger sizes, there are options (pilots 36-46, Portofino 34-45, Portugieser 40-44, etc). So the size issue is not an issue if viewed objectively. As for being expensive, it really depends on one’s budget and their perceived competition. Even though it’s $ we are taking about, it’s a more subjective issue imnsho. Should they be compared to Oris? Tudor? Omega? Rolex? I don’t have the marketing data (that Richemont and consultants do) but I cross shop IWC against Omega and Rolex. They are not expensive relative to those two. All is all, these sweeping assertions are typical of YT and social media more generally; alas, I tend to dissect arguments and facts a bit more. Cheers.

    It’s a cool blue package but a bit of a chubby boy. I’ve got the titanium on order which might wear a bit better re head heaviness in Merc format - we’ll see how that goes. The best proportioned IWC for me at present is the 43mm Big Pilot which nails the circumference to thickness to strap proportions perfectly. Movement look pretty too. Might pick one of those up in green. But IWC definitely a good bang for the buck right now. Nice pick up and some decent engineering at the price.

    Maybe it's just me, but on the Tudor, the white minutes hand blends too much with the white dial. It is actually a little hard for my 50 y/o eyes to see. I love this IWC, but I think I love the new mint green 41 Navitimer just a little more.

    I got the 43mm version of this on strap a couple of weeks ago brand new. I considered the 41mm on bracelet, but that would have been about $2k more than what I paid. The in house movement is nice, but not a huge deal for me. Also, the quick change strap system is neat, but you have to buy IWC’s overpriced straps to take advantage of it. The 43mm is just about on the verge of what I can pull off in terms of size, so I have no desire for the bracelet. Plus, these Pilot watches look much better on leather. I picked up the pilot strap with rivets from B&R Bands and I’ve got it just the way I want it now. That is a killer watch. Wear it in good health my fellow watch enthusiast.

    I owned 2 of these new ones. They are very thick but the bracelet is the best. It’s the best on market. The watch is whatever though.

    Is it me, or does it look like the bracelet doesn't quite match the case? I love both, but to my eye it looked like the lugs and end links don't quite match together color wise. I could just be crazy.

      That jumped out at me at the start but later on in the vid it matched better, maybe something to do with how they look on camera.

    Was very fortunate enough to have been offered the limited edition Green dial earlier this year. So what watch did you sacrifice then Bruce ?
