I have this exact piece! The bracelet is amazing! Love the brand. Their case finishing is unparalleled in its price range. The easy adjust clasp is great.
I’m a layman and therefore wouldn’t dream on commenting on movements etc, however even I can tell that they have upped their game on this one compared to the previous Petit Prince, and as you mentioned, the price hasn’t changed dramatically. I was in a boutique just the other day and tried on both. My wrist is 22cm and I preferred the older model, but not only because it sat better - Aesthetically I felt the size of the crown and pushers looked too big and disproportionate on the 41mm compared to the 43mm
Hi, congratulations on the great watch! I am considering it but still have to decide if I can accept the size on my 6.5 inch wrist. One thing - I think it has lateral clutch, nit vertical.
Got the call for the Mercedes titanium version. I’m intrigued given I’ve never seen it in the metal so I think I’ll give it a try out. Being titanium it won’t go with the steel bracelet which is a minus point but I quite like the two strap options. Let’s see how that goes. The blue dial is a pretty looking piece. IWC are making some very tempting pieces these days.
Got the blue version in leather a month ago..I like leather more but a bit regret not getting the bracelet as it’s one of the best in the market. Totally agree with what you said-it’s really a beautiful watch and you have to see it in real to fully realise it. Mine is very accurate and only minus 10 seconds after 2 weeks, less than a second per day. I really appreciate this watch as you did.
Love this iwc, imo its the best looking chrono out there. I tried it on at the AD a few months ago and the watch looked amazing in the metal, really looked and felt like a high end piece. Definitely will be adding this to my collection in the future.
It is a fantastic piece. The height is a bit tall unless wearer has massive wrists. It reminds me of the tutor black bay from a couple years ago , around 14.5 mm height.
1 year later, how are you feeling on this watch? I'm heavily debating picking one up- biggest challenge is if I wait and add this to the few I have, or sell one and replace with this one. Does it feel versitile? Do you still love the blue? Have you at all wished you got the classic black? I'm also looking at one of the limited edition collective C,03 chronos with black dial and grey instead of white... it's very cool but more subdued, I dunno... I had the blue Mark XX and sold it for the black and was glad I did, so now I'm scared to commit to the blue chrono, but for some reason the chrono just seems right in blue, doesn't it?
For this price all numerals should be lumed. Quite odd decision to not lime all numerals as this was a complai t from the previous version. To take away the anti-magnetic properties is a deal breaker for me.
Spot on! Applied indicies for some 3d effects on the dial that makes it even easier to read in some light situations and make those indicies full of lume, all of them!
I agree with everything you've said. I just got the Le Petit Prince a few months ago and absolutely love it, BUT for the price an in house movement would've been nice. That being said 43mm works well for me and I am an electrical engineer in the power industry so I am definitely exposed to more em fields than most and like you said the new one is lacking in that department
That lume thing is a big issue for me and so is the lack of protection against magnetic fields. If these issues would be fixed, I'd go for an IWC Flieger Chrono immediately...
Hey Bret Bruce, can you talk about your experience with Watch Exchange Company please. I am thinking of buying from them but would like your personal thoughts since you have purchased from them. Thanks
Great coverage Bruce just bought the 43mm Chrono Green dial on brown calfskin plus the AD threw in the green rubber strap for free only problem is I had to purchase the clasp for $430 nothing I could do about that but absolutely love this watch!!!!
I adore it. Great review! I have the old version and absolutely love it. I would get this in green in a heartbeat because I don’t see me ever selling my Le petite Prince!
Really nice piece. The blue dial really works, along with the bracelet. My AD has IWC and I eyeball them when I go in. I’m sure I’ll be in one at some point in my watch journey.
The movement is large and so they push the dial too close to the glass to reduce case thickness, a bit too much reflection and not enough blue which hurts the contrast between dial color and case bezel, has a grayish tone due to the sunburst design too, power reserve likely not quite up to modern standards, but much more positives than negatives, I like it overall, the IWC 43 is best in my book.
Hi Bruce - great review. I've just bought the same piece here in the UK, with the bracelet plus the blue leather strap. What sort of accuracy are you getting? Have you tested gains/losses over any period of time?
Excellent review, I purchased this last week and have been enjoying it a lot. I love the bracelet, I have the brown straps to change the look. I’m not bothered by the lume at all, but the lack of antimagnetism is the 1 thing that I wish they addressed. So many devices, even my laptop bag use rare earth magnets. Great review Bruce!
@@DougFNJ often? I'm considering buying this soon. But I'm worried about the lack of anti magnetic properties. Any pros or cons to share with your experience? Thank you!
@@NeoWahNah Not often enough to tell people not to get one. If it is a big enough concern though, the Spitfire models may be a good alternative, they have the farraday cage. If chronograph isn’t mandatory, have you looked at the Mark XX?
@DougFNJ Not exactly. I'm finding things to complain about at this point. I love the look of the Pilot chronograph. At this point, I'm sure it's the IWC I want. 2 things bother me, though, the shorter hands on the 41 and the lack of magnetic resistance. We enthusiasts are a funny bunch. I'm sure you know how it is!
I never quite got the appeal of IWC but... I did register my interest in the new Mark XX on bracelet. I like the design of it, and with the new 5 days in house movement we'll see if I fall in love.
Nice watch. The only problem for me is that it is not anti magnetic. For an everyday watch I like to wear it without thinking too much about it (so it must be waterproof and anti magnetic) We are so surrounded by electronic equipment that it seems easy to me nowadays to magnetize a watch. Maybe I'm wrong
I like the idea of antimagnetic watches but truth be told I've never magnetized a watch... Even being around all the fields we are in daily. So it's not a deal breaker for me, but I do prefer it just for peace of mind
I did read somewhere that this watch has an anti-magnetic ring around the inside of the case, but that IWC reduced the anti-magnetic properties somewhat because many customers want the display caseback. I have the Spitfire Chrono in 41 with the same in-house movement. I like the bracelet and display back on this new model, but console myself with the Spitfire’s better anti-magnetic properties.
I wish this was available in a black dial and black day/date discs. In addition I wish maybe the dial would be used from the IWC x Collective C.03 or the Ceratanium 41. I think a silicon hairspring should be included but not a deal breaker. Otherwise it is the perfect chrono
Bruuuuuuce! Great video as always. I’m thinking between this and the speedmaster. Hard to pick! Anyway, always appreciate your videos and can’t wait to see our boys playing against the bears and Trey Lance this year.
Perfect would be having the date window color the same as the dial! That is my biggest complaint about IWC. Some times they do it and other times they don’t. I don’t understand why
This is an interesting issue, and caught my eye as well. I believe that they did use a color-matched date wheel on the last generation, and then deliberately reverted from that. Personally, I can’t decide which way I like the dial better.
For me The problem is the bracelet, just doesn’t suit that watch somehow. The leather strap it comes with it flimsy as well. Its so good other than its bracelets/ strap game.
Beautiful watch I agree exactly with what you said the bracelet does not fit that watch and the dial is so beautiful it’s a shame they didn’t perfect this
This is a stunning watch. Love to see more coverage of IWC. Great addition to your collection.
This is IWC’s best model line. Great work IWC👍🏻
I have this exact piece! The bracelet is amazing! Love the brand. Their case finishing is unparalleled in its price range. The easy adjust clasp is great.
I have the green version and I love it, I do agree with your opinion on the lume, if they did lume all the numerals it would have been amazing
Congratulations Bruce on your IWC. Very nice watch.
Great video! Yes, I agree this watch is amazing. We can tell IWC has been putting a lot of effort into their newest releases.

Looks VERY similar to my Alpina chrono, even the blue dial colour

this is a super classic pilot watch.
Great watch! One on my list!
In the market for this or a sapphire speedy...and I'm a pilot so this makes my decision even more difficult

Same here. Sunday can't come soon enough!
IWC no doubt a nicer watch than a Speedy. Speedy no doubt a more iconic model that has more general appeal
These are also my two shortlisted rn. Interested to know why u think the IWC is a nicer watch over speedy? Just aesthetics?
This movement does not have a vertical clutch. It does have a column wheel.
That really is a sey watch. Close to perfect. I would like it a bit smaller.
Beautiful watch Bruce.
Very nice!!
Sometimes mine stops when starting the chrono.
Super Watch
The things I can guarantee in any BW video. The mention of light play and anti reflective coating.
And the showing of macro shots and how every watch needs a good bracelet 😂
@@BruceWilliams indeed! “Facets” is another one! Perhaps a BW drinking game could be devised.
How’s the thickness compare to the Sub? I know the spec differences, but don’t have “real world experience” with the IWC 41 Chrono.

BW - I'd love to see a head-to-head between this and the Tudor BB chrono.
Tudor can't be compared to this, iwc is in a different league
Agreed with Coffee Boy Clips. Not a fair comparison. IWC nicer all around
It's nice, but I like the IWC big pilot perpetual calendar. I need a cure, that's ludicrous money.
The price jump on this watch to $8500. is about as outrageous as the recent JLC price increases. Very nice watch, but...

Bravo 👏👏
I just purchased one with the leather strap. Its very comfortable and am Super happy with it. Thanks for your honest and very cool review;-))
I think for $7900 it better be near perfect.
Let`s compare this to the Jaeger Polaris Chronograph PLS:)
10k+ but only 62 comments. What up with that? Why such a disparity?
not a fan of the display caseback. prefer the 3717 or the 3706. too many "new" watches in your collection for my taste
I would do one for $4,000
Bit too much home shopping tv compared to the amount of information on the watch.
the 43 is back in house and very overpriced...7800!
