    The only thing I'd change in remarkable's design or boox for that matter is to reduce the bezels so we can use more of the screen, if possible of course since perhaps that bezel is necessary for the screen to work, perhaps the same bezel width of a modern ipad

    Interesting that it’s the first non-Kindle 10+ inch 300 dpi mono screened device. That was a mouthful 😝 but people have been commenting since the Scribe’s announcement that Amazon had the exclusive on 300 dpi for an unknown length of time.
    We’ve since seen 300 dpi mono panels paired with a 150 dpi Kaleido panels, but never released on their own. Maybe this became a carrot on a stick for all the other companies? Both SN Xs and rM2 use Carta 1000 and I thought 1200 might have been enough to justify an update, but I guess the resolution increase made them wait.
    So yes, this is a massive troll by BOOX!

    I dont think there's much that remarkable can do in terms of changing design. their software is in need of refinement and tuning, but I think where they can come out with a rM3 and dominate market share again would be to have their hardware catch up with all their competitors and do it for cheaper so that it's their product in every hand and not anyone else's.

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree with that but I don't think it's gonna be cheaper. I think it's gonna be the most expensive device from the Big Three (reM, SN, Boox). I do think that whatever they do is gonna dominate. They have mindshare still and the masses only know of the reM. Thats a huge advantage. Cant wait to see what they do.

Need an E-Ink device for Notetaking ONLY (use an IPAD and MacBook for everything else) would you get a Remarkable 2, Boox 10.3 Go or wait for the Remarkable 3? Don’t like the feel of Notetaking on IPAd even w/ PaperLike screen saver. Need to export/link Business meeting notes to other artifacts in P.A.R.A. System . Thanks I appreciate your video! Without a doubt, the Go 10.3! Even taking into consideration the reMarkable 3 (Which I think is coming this fall and is going to be a marvel in design, if their past is any indication). It doesn't matter. For the functionality you need the Go 10.3 is the best option right now, and for the foreseeable future. GL in your search.

    Hey Roderick, good video. I think you might be right about Boox just throwing a device out there because they could. Since the Go 10.3 is rumored to be plastic, it is almost a more durable version of Remarkable but other than Android doesn't really offer much difference. I will be curious to hear about the writing feel and the new "simple" UI. From everything I have seen, Boox loves to overcomplicate their machines. Also, why would they really do this? I asked @KitBetts-Masters the other day if Boox was having an identity crisis. Finally, I think the delays from Supernote gave Boox this opening. Had the A6X2 already been released, that head to head would be really interesting. Thanks again for the content.

      Unfortunately, the Go 10.3 is confirmed to be "Go 10.3 is made by metal. The back of the device is covered by PU material" (Boox team says so on their Q&A website). I really wish it were plastic like Supernote, which feels much more reassuring when putting it into a carrying bag or just moving it around on the desktop - compared to the metal reMarkable (and the new Boox Go 10.3), which always felt too sensitive and fragile in daily life use. But I guess we'll have to wait for the first Go reviews and user experiences to know for sure.

      @@Change-1820 Yeah, the Boox promo packshots are somewhat misleading. Were it made of plastic, I'd have given it a shot (would have been my first Boox), but reading not-so-good reddit posts about Boox's build quality and looking for a plastic device, I guess I'm holding out for the A5X2. • @steverolfeca
    @steverolfeca 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I think it may be a bit short-sighted to only view the Go 10.3 in relation to reMarkable. Supernote had a strong market position with the A5X, but ran into release problems with the A5X2. This has created an opportunity for Boox to grab market share before the new Supernote hits the market in Q3 or Q4. Also, the Go isn't "just thinner" than reMarkable 2. It has narrower bezels, is much lighter, offers freemark annotation for all document types, and access to specialty functions like Chordpro charting for musicians through the Play Store. It's too early to tell if it will be a success, but if it is, it could overshadow the reMarkable 3 as well as Supernote's next release.

      Hello, The remarkable 2 was just an easy comparison to make, if for no other reason, it looks a lot like it, in its design language.
      I highly doubt it will do anything to sway the Supernote crowd. The Supernotes have that film, the pens, and that quick Access Menu. And that my friend, Boox has failed to do anything about. Video coming soon.

    🙋‍♂Hi Roderick, as always a pleasure. I really think Remarkable2 users should be asking ... What did Reamarkable2 bring to the table in the last 4 years? As far as software development, and the answer would be ... Not much! Remarkakble2 might look pretty, but when I researched its capabilities compared to other devices, it lacked luster in my opinion. For the person who is just looking for a writing tablet and the occasional PDF annotating, it is well suited. Everything about the Remarkable3 is so hush, hush that no one truly knows what is coming yet but if the last 4 years shows us anything I expect the same from their new device. Keep them coming and as always kudos from NYC.🗽

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Always a pleasure Em. I agree that the hardware is the only thing the reMarkable devices have on any of the other devices. But for the mainstream, thats usually enough... "Mine is thinner and shinnier (is that a word?) than yours". That's reMarkables market, and they play to it well. Now for note-taking, as we always say, SN for life, lol. Later dude!

    • @telockett9850
      @telockett9850 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Although I agree that the reMarkable 2 hasn’t brought much, as a four year user of rM2 it still works the best for me, even as a SN A5X and Nomad A6X2, I still find myself going back to the rM2 with all its limitations. That is what makes it a great device, it does exactly what I need it to do, exactly how I need it to do. It may be hard for people to understand but its limitations is what works for its user base.

    • @telockett9850
      @telockett9850 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Another thing about “people” is they talk about the reMarkable 2 been 4 years old but brag that Supernote says the want to create a product that does no become obsolete and they want have to keep making a new product. So what that tells you, we are consumers who wants the new and next toy, because rM2 is doing exactly what they say, with the Supernote already on their 3rd device version (granted due to shortages but again how can you be sure you can create a product that never goes obsolete, because time will influence that, as we see). Remarkable is still selling and its users are just fine, especially with remarkable hacks, because its doing things like split screen and has shapes, hence that’s why its users ain’t complaining about it features, IYKYK.

    • @rantsabouttechnology
      @rantsabouttechnology  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you are beautiful, people will find some use for you, lol. I keep the reMarkable around solely as a professional device. It's not something I use every day but occasionally when I wanna impress. And it's just functional enough to hold its own. As far as time goes, 4 years for the lifespan of a device is pretty long. They still support the reM1 as of rn as well. That's over 6 years of supporting a device... Pretty good!

    The Rm line has another approach. Different of it all around. The Rm2 will always exist, because it´s purpose for creators will be never obsolet. Its simple purpose of offering a free place for productivity and creativity is genius! Rm3 will come and Rm2 will still be around serving this purpose, because Rm3 will exist for another kind of customer, that will need color and interactivities that will surely destroy the idea of Rm1 & 2 for all creators. If the Rm´s team fall in this trap, the original idea will be destroyed and the Rm3 won´t be serving for a customer that looked for exactly what the Rm1 & 2 has offered. Then the Rm3 will be designed for another kind of customer, as I said. As a creator, I am definetely not bought by this immitation. It is too small and has no keyboard. I will keep truthful to my Rm2.

    Boox have not been working on the Go 10.3 for four years. They are up to their 3rd iteration of Air devices, they have the Ultra, the mini, Palma etc. The Go series is just icing on the cake to eat up market share from the pending remarkable and super note releases. Remarkable have released zilch in the last two years. Supernote takes years to release anything too. When RM3 comes out, Boox will have a new device within 6 months using the latest gen of tech. The only company that can compete with Boox is Amazon and Amazon don’t seem to care enough at the moment.

      You were talking as if Remarkable are scoffing at Boox. How it took them 2 years compared to Boox’s 4 to develop a RM2 style device. This implies RM are somehow ahead of Boox in terms of design or product cycle when I think the opposite is true. Boox just went in a different direction, they didn’t prioritise thinness or lightness. They went for processing power, the ability to use apps, color, covering more use cases. Now they are eating their competitors lunch and releasing similar devices on top of the existing Boox roster.

    hmm… interesting thoughts.. unfortunately Boox does not release products with international users in mind, but rather first for the Mainland Chinese market. They can easily sell a million devices in China, if they pander to the Chinese market. Hence the blatant ‘copying’. The international product lines seems like a convenient release 6 months after launching them in China. I doubt they see rM as a competitor in China, but rather, ‘let’s copy the rM form factor cos Bigme, iReader, Moan (Xiaomi), Lenovo etc are trying to capture the Chinese eink market’. Lenovo and Xiaomi already copied the rM2 form factor in their Chinese released tablets.
    ReMarkable, on the other hand, doesn’t have this luxury. They launched the Type Folio about less than 2 years ago to rejuvenate the rM2 use case with some degree of success. This amazing company is definitely capable of launching products with innovative design. You are right, can’t wait to see what’s coming next from them.
