I am so glad you found painting. Imagine the beauty that would have been lost to the world if your depression had won. You make painting so understandable and easy to do. I can't afford oils so I will try them in acrylics. Don't put yourself down your a wonderful artist and a real person sharing what you learned and are learning. I would be interested in your books. Justin...I started painting 3 months ago and I've been afraid to try a seascape. I was intimidated by the thought of it! I'm comfortable with mountains, water and trees but seascapes?...😳 I decided to try this one because you said anyone could do it. I just finished it and even though you may say this isn't a masterpiece, I'm going to call mine a masterpiece!😁 Thank you so much for this tutorial. Hey brother, what an awesome teacher you are! You have a real gift Justin, you set people as ease and instill confadence. I've taught people to play guitar, I've trained vocalists, and when I was a young stud muffin (ya...right) I even taught kick boxing. I'm going to be teaching people to restore and customize die cast cars like Hot Wheels, Corgi etc.
Some of the very best guitars players in the world, Barry Stock from Three Days Grace was one of my guitar players in the last band I was in, and I've worked with some of the greatest song writers in North America, and most of them, I mean the great majority were terrible instructors!
Teaching is a skill, but it's not a skill that can be taught easily. You have the gift brother!!
I'm inspired watching your videos, and I'm busting out out my canvases, easels, paints, brushes and bad attitude and I'm about to start painting again!! You got me going after I watched the fist video of yours, and I started at a painting I had going like five or more years ago!!
So I believe we should tell people when they're doing something awesome, but especially when you're doing it free, because you're that kind of a man!

Conversion, I am one of those people watching videos yet afraid to touch brush to canvas! I have an easel, canvas boards, paint and brushes. If anyone should come to my house and see it, “hey that’s not a good painting!” I’ll kick them out. You’ve conquered my fear, it’s just paint and can be covered and start over. Thank you for sharing with us and the inspiration. 😄

I am using Water Soluble Oils.... what can I use as the beginning WET medium on the canvas before starting the painting (I watched your vid on creating liquid white but I can't find ANYONE who has used a clear wet with water solubles)? I really want to try this! Absolutely LOVE your encouraging videos :-)
What's the clear gel that you used? I loved this video and would like to try painting it.
He he has pre prepped the whole canvas using liquid clear, or you can use linseed oil..... without that he wouldn't be able to do the wet on wet technique.. hope that helps.. jj

Wow I am in awe, You are so talented, I produce one disaster after another, and Scrap them all, I am almost ready to give up but watching you has given me new enthusiasm but please tell me was this painting done in oil or acrylics. I only have acrylics and they don’t seem to blend quite like yours do.

Ive done this kind of blending in acrylics, where oil uses liquid clear I use acrylic retarder liquid, i get similar results, im going to attempt this painting now
