hi justin. so, this time two years ago i was given the news if i didn't have an operation straight away i would be dead in months, when i was in school art was my best subject, iv'e always liked all forms of it, i'm 65 now and when i saw your painting of the waterfall and you said it was your first attempt i was knocked out by it, it is awesome, painting if you are able and interested is a great place to be and feel at peace, good luck with your website.

Wow...the green coming through after you smoothed the black paint for mountain is nice...it would even look good with tad more and maybe brushed on snow here and there leaving more black as the main mass of mountain. Love the colors..I watched this like 16 times...love it..
The canvas is great idea...seems to give that natural look and works nice..great mood. Sydney Laurences scenes would look wonderful on that type of canvas or something like his mood...

Justin, I had food poisoning a few months ago, and it's no laughing matter. Like you, I thought I was dying! There's simply no way that someone can understand without having gone through it. It's makes one much more conscientious about what they're putting in their mouth for sure.

I’m a novice painter... like your work and your comments about stepping back. I’ve hit a flat spot in my creativity, getting back to the basics. I find my ability to paint is greatly influenced by where I’m at with in my walk with God. May God’s peace be with you, looking forward to more of your work. Take care and God bless.

So glad it wasn’t a heart attack after all, Justin. Food poisoning is awful, but generally not fatal. Great to see you again, and to watch you produce another beautiful painting. Thank you for your words of wisdom, too. As a two time cancer survivor, I have come to the same conclusion.

My Dad nearly died from food poisoning (eating oysters that were off) he was in hospital for over a week and they said he was very very lucky that he came in when he did, so food poisoning isn't to be taken for granted! It can kill....so please take care and watch what you eat and if you feel sick GO STRAIGHT to medical assistance!!! Glad you are up and about again so we can all enjoy your amazing talents

Hey brother, glad your still above ground! Man, I remember when I was maybe 17 years at work and we have small vans that come around through the industrial areas every break and lunch and I bought an egg salad sandwich which came with an extra treat FOOD POISONING!
I was fine until I got home and started feeling nauseous so I also went to lay down, then a couple of hours later I was in the same state as you described!
That put me out of action for a week! That was in my prime, I was in Tae kwon do and kick boxing, as well as weight lifting. I was a lean, mean, fighting machine at that age and it still kicked the snot out of me for a week!! At 56 I hate to think what it would do to me now!!
This painting reminded me of a time we took our three punk sons to the drive in and there was the coolest northern light show I've ever seen, it looked exactly like a huge angel with both wings spread way out on either side. It was absolutely stunning and everybody got out of their cars in the middle of the movie to take pictures and just to soak it in!
As if that wasn't awesome enough, a huge fireball went streaking past when from the biggest meteor I've ever seen! And we all watched it streak past for what felt an eternity! I was so tempted to take off and see if I could find where it landed, because it was pretty close to the drive in. If you ever find a chunk of a meteor grab it because they are worth a LOT of money!
My late mother in law had this heavy stone
Glad your OK brother, now quit fooling around and get some more of those awesome painting going!! ')
Take care Justin. she used as a door stop and she painted a turtle pattern on it because it was sort of turtle shell shaped and we all walked past that stone year after year! Her mother found it on the farm when she was a little girl, so that thing was around for decades!!
When we moved her in with us after she got Alzheimer's I picked that stone up for the first time and I swear my eyes damned near popped out because I had a strong feeling this was a meteor just due to the weight, because meteors have a lot of metal in them obviously.
I knew weight alone didn't mean it was a meteor, but it did tick that box, and so the next thing I did was put a magnet on it and it stuck!!
Still, lots of different rocks are magnetic, but not as strong. That did get the blood pumping though because it had quite a strong magnetic pull and I was 95% convinced, and so the last thing I did was took a dremel and shaved a square inch THAT'S when I knew we had a winner, because it looked like nickle which was a huge bonus because it had a very high nickle content!
My eldest son and I decided to drive down to Toronto, which was over 70 miles from the small town we live in, and I took it to the University to have an expert look at it. So I handed the stone to this expert, a really nice older gent and as soon as he felt the weight and saw the spot I had shaved his eyes lit up!
That stone is about 8" wide and about three inches thick and he told me it was "conservatively" worth well over $2,000!! He also told me I could have it sliced into thin layers and make a lot more selling the individual slices!!
I didn't sell it, because it wasn't mine! LOL! I couldn't ask my mother in law if she wanted me to sell it for her either because the disease had taken a tragic toll on her and a lot of days she didn't know who she was, where she was or who we were...well, she always knew who I was which baffled everybody!
She passed in our house about three years ago but I can't bring myself to sell that stone. Maybe if times get rough, but that time isn't now.
    So, keep your eyes peeled!
To close out this novel...sigh - The very next summer we were at the same drive in watching the same screen, because there's three at our drive in and ANOTHER huge fireball came streaking past in almost the exact same area! It was just as huge as the previous one too. I'm not talking about the split second flash of streaking light we call "falling stars" this was a huge fireball, and it's near impossible to judge how big it actually was, but for context, going by the size of the thing I have no problem saying the ball of fire was house sized!!
I was so so tempted to go look for it, because we're surrounded by endless forest and farm land and I would have looked for fire and smoke but the wife was not into it!! LOL!
    Take care brother!
    Jack - Canada

Boy, don't ever eat again what you ate that made you sick. Your painting is beautiful as usual. I did my first painting last week and every time I think I'm done, I find something else to tweek it. Dude this is awesome! Gotta try it! Keep em coming! Uuggh ... I can smell the linseed now! You and the scent is given me the itch!
I know how you feel. Bout 10 years ago I had a case of food poisoning like yours. My exwife brought me a burger from a restaurant her and her mom went to and it rose around in the car with them basically all day.. I was unaware of that... I couldn't eat, barely could drink anything, or lay in any position other than on my side for over a week. Extremely painful. I hope to never ever go through that again.

@@PaintingsbyJustin Justin can you do a moonlit scene...ocean.
Please try using a 16/20 canvas and the black backdrop is nice..doesnt distract as a viewer..
Also have a look at this channel...some ideas for videos and for your palette if you used a 16/20 and have the board on left of easel like this guy does you can have a direct view with cam.
This way your not bending down to get paint and viewers can see you mix and load brush, better for you.
Have a teal green tee as your shirt, it's a calming color will look good on you as well. No hat...telling you as a viewer...need to present to attract. I've given many youtubers advice in my time. The art sherpa, the channel I'm linking, easy oil painting and more.
      th-cam.com/video/Av_c6lmcksg/w-d-xo.html
      Just try it...
You've got the brushwork down, ...nice works.
Also, try the Ross 1 and 2 inch brushes, the bristles are the best, control and marking, for blending. His brushes they dont make anywhere anymore. A combo of red sable real. You can paint the handles.

I thought I had food poisoning in March and the pain got worse and worse then was at a point of literally screaming out of my head..went by ambulance and idk how much pain meds they gave me but nothing worked, I remember wanting to pass out and thinking I was going to have a heart attack from the pain...three days later the drs came in and said they were doing emergency surgery because my blood ct was extremely high..I was barely alive at that point and it turned out that my intestines had twisted around themselves, an obstrustrution, they were black and dead from the pic the surgeon showed me..I lost 19inches of my intestines and Im still healing but walking daily ..I was actually sick for a while and haven't painted in almost a year =o( idk why I cant...anyway just thought Id share with u because u seem to understand how Im feeling right now more than anyone..take care!
