Looking at these to get out of a car payment, and one of the first things I'd do is switch over to Sync3. Only about $500 when using used parts.

Make sure you get the system programmed to your VIN. From my understanding, it will not work without the VIN programmed. I don’t know how to do that, but I understand that the dealership can, but Lord knows what they’d charge! I’m eventually swapping to Sync3 in this one as well.

@@NeighborhoodCarReviews you can use forscan, I did it in my 2015 Fusion. It's pretty easy honestly. Since this car doesn't have active park assist, that's one less thing to worry about, it worked very well. I'm trying to get out of my 2019 Fusion, I have a low payment but don't want a payment while in school.

@@zachtravers I’m unfamiliar with Forscan, but I’ll look into it! I imagine it requires an SD card? I appreciate the information. I currently have an 09 Fusion that has the 1st Gen Sync, which works flawlessly, but I don’t have a touchscreen or anything. The MKX, as you know, is fully equipped and the touchscreen controls just about everything. I wondered about just popping the APIM open and trying to trace the fault and fix it. On the back of my APIM, it has a Pre-Production Prototype decal on it. It’s weird.

@@NeighborhoodCarReviews nope, it requires an OBDII scan tool, a windows laptop, and software. there's tons of forums about it. You could just grab a used APIM from either eBay or a junkyard, they're not too expensive for Sync2 systems. I had Sync1 both with and without NAV in my 2012 and 2010 Fusions. It worked fine but you're better off without NAV if you want to upgrade the headunit down the road, it's almost impossible with NAV.

@@zachtravers Interesting. I looked at our Pull-Apart in Indianapolis, and, weirdly, they have no MKX’s. I wonder if it would work out of the MKS or MKZ from the same year?

For a vehicle that’s over 100k miles the interior still looks good! I’ve seen examples with less miles with terribly worn seats, scratches on the bronze panel, and many more imperfections

We now have 170,000 on it and it still looks new inside! I filmed this before we bought it several years ago. I just now got around to publishing it. Lol. The only issue it has is the APIM for Sync and the screen stopped working. Which sucks.

Hello did you have to change your water pump and timing chain? how many miles was it if you had too? Hopefully you’re still going strong!

If I had to consider a used crossover/ SUV, I’d consider the 2007-2015 MKX, along with the 2010-2016 Cadillac SRX, but I prefer the MKX more

Change the water pump and timing chain, and drain PTU and put new 75w140 synthetic fluid and you set for life 😊

And get a new APIM for the Sync system. The aforementioned are good ideas, though. Something to keep in mind.
