I own an antique shop right down from West End Antiques. We just opened last year. Daniel came to my shop a few times and every time we talked for about an hour. He was always kind and informative. I was just thinking the other day I hadn't seen him in a while. I had no idea he passed. Daniel actually told me he'd been asking you to come to Knoxville, so I'm sure he was really happy you did a video here. Thanks George for all the knowledge you and people like Daniel have shared. As a younger person starting out, it's much appreciated.

He was kind and informative to me and our whole antique community as well! He mentioned there were some good other shops in Knoxville, I'll have to come back to see more. I am so happy I got to do this and share his knowledge while there was time.

@TheAntiqueNomad We would love to have you at our shop if you do come back. There are a lot of shops close together in our area. Knoxville is a great area for picking. My husband and I are nurses by trade, and we've been kindly welcomed by other dealers we've met. I'm glad you got to meet Daniel.

I am so sorry for the family members who lost their loved one. I had enjoyed him so much during the video and felt like I wanted to meet him because he studied art as well as myself. I was shocked at it sudden passing. My prayers go out for his family! I miss the live feed last night because of back surgery yesterday morning but I sure enjoyed the show with breakfast this morning. His store is so beautiful!!!! I would love to go there. I hope his family keeps it going!

George, what a fine video. The way you walked around with Daniel and talked back-and- forth about the items was so interesting and entertaining. I always learn so much from your videos. Tjs one was exceptional. I thought to myself. I wonder if I could make it to Knoxville in one day from Detroit? There was so much loveliness and fun there in that antique store.
And to Daniel Claeys family and friends, my condolences to you all. I never met him but I did enjoy reading his comments on George's videos. His responses were polite and friendly, enthusiastic and infomative. He will be greatly and deeply missed.

Good evening, George. I hope you had a great Easter weekend! Were those pearls, in the case at the start, real/cultured or costume? They looked knotted. I really like the classic look of pearls and cameos. That opera lamp was fantastic. I would love to have one of those barrister bookcases! There's a pretty pair of mantle lustres here. I have an old kerosene can I actually use. I keep kerosene in it to refill all of the lamps. Loved that old secretary desk! The $48.00. on the cordial set, seemed on the cheap side. I have a Jeannette shell pink juice set, in the Thumbprint pattern. Loved that Victorian cranberry epergne! Mom's has the "candy canes", with baskets hanging from them. That is horrible about Daniel! Prayers for his family 🙏 Losing a loved one is beyond expression...my recent experience has been devastating...but such a tragic loss is horrid! Thanks for sharing this one, George!

RIP Daniel. I've known some major experts/collectors over the years and some of them have gone suddenly. Some wonk stuff Daniel would have appreciated: I found a carved "white material" Chinese dragon pin in an estate sale. My cousin snagged it off of me, as a gift for his wife or daughter-in-law. Could be either; they're a family of science fiction nerds and it's the Year of the Dragon. 25:15 IIRC the Italians made 3D leaves and the Czechs did flat painted ones. Modern Czech pieces have flat leaves. I couldn't remember which was which, but those designs are traditional and haven't changed much. (and if you're wondering, I learned that from a group of antique junkies, many of whom are antiques themselves.)

I used to steal all my favourite marbles from my Brothers’ Crown Canadian whisky bottle bags made in purple and gold…all the boys had them, but I wanted to protect the pretty ones from getting chipped and nicked. I gave them back when we were all old enough to realise they had collector value. This was a great store, and we don’t find many like it here in Toronto.🖤🇨🇦
Tube loss of Daniel is tragic for so many reasons. Every time one of the Elders of a community passes, the knowledge they so freely shared is gone as well. I am sorry for his family and friends, and also for the younger people rising in the business who will never have the opportunity to learn from his deep store of knowledge. He will be missed.🖤🇨🇦

I love the smelling salt bottle. I remember as a kid in the 60s my mom used to carry smelling salts in her purse in case she felt faint.

I always learn something new from your videos, George. Who knew there were different sleds for girls & boys? I did not, because my brother and I had one sled so we learned to share a lot!! And we had nothing else to compare it to. Wish I still had it.
Love Daniel's mixed media art!! So much talent & imagination.
    Great video. Thank you!

I’m a Tennessee girl myself. I was born in Chattanooga. But was raised in North Alabama in a town called Scottsboro. Every first Monday of the month we have trade day. You should research it and maybe come and see what all we have in our small little town around the courthouse.

I enjoyed this video content and the visit with Daniel. He is so knowledgeable, learned many things I wasn't aware of. Such an interesting individual. You are so right, never take 1 minute of time for granted. Forgive often, love hard, do what makes yor heart happy. I juat knew what you were leading up to by your words and tone. Peace, love and light sent to all.
