    Hi Chris I've just bought a new zsx r 125 ... obviously the dealership will service it initially for the warranty..but when I service it myself it looks like it hasn't got a usual oil filter . I guess it has a strainer ...is this in the clutch side of the engine and would I have to remove the whole clutch cover side to Access this small strainer ?

    That was a very basic service, there was no valve clearance checking and adjusting, no air filter checking and replacing, no fork checking for leaks, no brake pad checking and replacement , and that's what I need to know, would love to see how to adjust valves , but definitely how to get at the airbox to change or clean the air filter, also, how to get at the battery to charge it if it's flat,
    Hope you could do videos of that please,

      It was supost to be very basic this is for very beginers and i did that on purpose because all thing like valves should really be done at a garage on this bike there are 2 black pannels under the seat that pop off and there is 2 10 mm bilts take them out and then you can pull the seat up you can access the air box and battery in there

    No valve clearance check/adjustment? In my understanding its kind of the main thing that needs to be checked according to the service interval. Not sure if id call spark plug and oil change a service, I pray that that's not a first service and that the owners bike actually lasts. Would suck if its not being done, sure it'll ride for many miles without it, but after a while it won't do it any good at all :s.
    Plus it should be quick and easy on this as its SOHC tappets from my understanding of the bike, well worth it especially in a high revving single.
    (Ignoring chain and tire pressure, as that's something easily checked/done at home, and needs to be done weekly/2-weekly in the case of the chain anyway if used a lot)
    Past sentence said that chain looks far too tight, so tight the wheel didn't look to be spinning well. By the time its on the ground with someone sat on it it's going to be so tight its a safety risk, at the least cause a heck tonne of wear on the sprockets. Then add to that the fact that you used red grease as chain lube???? Are you serious? Not only won't that properly lubricate the chain nor penetrate it properly it makes no sense, chain lube isn't that expensive. Tried looking it up and all I can find is one TH-cam video with 80% of its comments saying the same as me.
    Thought I was making a small comment when I first started watching but oh boy. No valve clearance, chain far too tight and red grease instead of proper chain lube! That's real bad.
    Feel like I also need to reinforce that its supposed to be slack/freeplay in the chain. I.e to test it, use one finger and lightly push up or down against the chain, that's the freeplay/slack in it. Whats shown in this video is you pulling the chain up and down with two fingers with a fair bit of force, there's next to 0 freeplay in that chain.
    Seeing this worries me greatly, again I pray that no one got hurt riding that bike. Rather than dismissing this please at least look into your chain maintenance practices, from every garage I've used this does not look ok.

    • @Ridingreviews
      @Ridingreviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for your reply this is suppost to be for at home servicing the very basics valves are suppost to be done at a garage and i didnt do it in this video on purpose there is no reason why you carnt use red grease on a chain as it sticks better than chain lube and there has never been an issue with it the chain was a little tite wich i specified in the video bit saying someone could get hurt from this is just rong and slanderous i have service thousends of bikes this isnt the hole of a garage service and you dont see the state of these bikes when they come in lack of maintenance on the customers part as i said the service on this bike is for beginners and if the tappets need doing they get done but not by the owner and that is who this video is intended for tire pressure and chains should be checked on every service due to the owner not doing it i know i carnt please everybody but im trying to help
