The movie Heaven's Gate is about this story. It's supposed to be a horrible movie with Jeff Bridges but I found it to be a beautiful film with great cinematography, music and this incredible, tragic, true story line. Greed, savagery and injustice have been with us since the beginning of time.
It could have used a good editor, but I though it was a beautiful movie that told a touching story of great significance to the 1980s and after . . . our new Gilded Age.

My school teacher in Basin Wyoming was related to her . His family had a big farm in south Dakota . He is poor son died in a car wreck in Powell Wyoming .

We found the film to be quite underrated, as well. It does deserve a cult following -- it's not as bad as the "bust" it was at the box office.
