As an avid poker player, it's fascinating learning about one of my favorite hands to play, the Dead Man's Hand, its origin of the hand alongside the man behind the hand. This presentation is an excellent study of one of the most incredible lawman in the 1800s!

I thoroughly enjoyed this presentation having only limited knowledge of William. He had many skills that kept a lot of people feeling safe. I would have liked to have been his friend. Yes , I can see that the accidental death of one of his deputies would’ve left him feeling very sad . He would’ve been a loyal friend to a few he trusted. Such a shame that he was taken out in that way with no control over the situation. That’s truly sad. I feel he had more to go .
As a Texas Hold 'Em player, to this day an Ace of any suit and an 8 of any suit as your two hole (dealt to you) cards are known as "The Dead man's hand" in remembrance of Wild Bill Hickock and his fate with those cards.

I had my picture taken at his grave in the 1950s. They have cleaned it up and fixed it up real nice since then.
