    I have been having a wonderful time with kava these days! I figured out the reason I was getting kava hangovers was because I was using the Dua Nu Bilo brand on amazon. Ever since i switched to roots of happiness and kalm with kava brand kava I have been having an absolutely wonderful time! I am able to get as krunk as I want now without having to suffer all day the next day at work. Thank you for your videos Dr.Krunkenstein!

    Great Method! Best I've tried so far! Just did this with the KWK Borogu. Felt good after the 1st shell. Once shell #2 hit, I got a big grin on my face. That's the feeling I was looking for! New to kava have tried maybe 10 - 15 times, felt a bit relaxed, but nothing I was looking for until I tried this method. Awesome! Thanks for sharing! And got some makas in the fridge for tomorrow! Cheers man!!!

      Your good news is now you are over Reverse Tolerance and you should be good to go with any other methods of prep, as well, and for the rest of your life. Plus you'll need less now, most likely. Go back and re-try the other methods you tried before and you might be pleasantly surprised. And then you always have this method for when you need a solid krunk. I don't know whay or how, but what you just achieved is not just a single krunk but a lifelong catharsis, your kavalactone receptors are now primed for anything. So experiment and explore and enjoy! Bula!

      I'm trying Kava (instant kava) for the very first time. And I'm finding it a very pleasant experience. Now the instant stuff you just mix and drink because it's microgrind.... Does anyone know is it worth it to take the time to preform this ritual? Or the milky water brew I've seen elsewhere?
      I'm just wondering because instant Kava does not seem to be the preferred method.

    • @krnewman
      @krnewman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@siadawn Average is 2 weeks but it can take anywhere from one day to 2 months. You can provoke a catharsis in many cases my making a stronger prep, as with this one in the video, blend n' strain.

    • @krnewman
      @krnewman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@siadawn There is no doubt a very small percent of the population who are effectively immune to kava because their receptors can never be trained to assimilate the kavalactones. This is the process you are going through right now, training your receptors to assimilate the kavalactones. The average for this is two weeks for most people but for some people it is longer, up to two months, as it was for me. My Blend ‘n strain video is designed for people who need to get over this hump. It’s like a short sharp shock to trigger our receptors into working. It’s not meant for daily consumption but rather a single cathartic experience which turns the receptors on so afterwards one can drink a much lighter and more normal concentration of kava.

    could i make equally potent water by kneading and using the same amount of water, instead of using the blender? thanks for the video

    • @krnewman
      @krnewman  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you could, yes. It won't be quite as strong because a blender is capable of greater maceration of the makas to release kavalactones, but it should still be strong enough to combat reverse tolerance, which is what this recipe is designed for. As you've sussed, the most important factor is adjusting water ratios.

    • @lysergichigh6172

      @krnewman thanks for the response I'll be trying ur method when my kava arrives, you reccomend this for a first timer?

    • @krnewman
      @krnewman  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lysergichigh6172 I only recommend this method for beginners if they’re stuck in reverse tolerance, and need to get over it very quickly. I arrived at it after two months of daily, drinking, with no effect except pleasant dreams. It worked for me. Beyond that it’s a good method for an experienced drinker, who wants a very strong effect. for someone just starting out, drinking kava, I would recommend a much higher ratio of water to medium grind dry powdered kava. this isn’t a recipe for a nice drink like normal kava, this is for a special strong drink.

      @krnewman just got my kava in today and followed ur steps and added some milk also. Man I was not prepared for the taste haha. I used 3tbs instead of 4 cuz I didn't wanna overdo it just incase. I was able to consume like 70% percent of it before I went for another sip and my body just rejected it and I spat it out into the rest of the bowl, nedless to say I had to throw it out. I felt the effects still but it wasn't anything intense . Tomorrow I'll give it another try and clog my nose I heard that helps.

    That said I do like the convenience of an Alubottle. But I'm wishing I'd have pulled out the blender tonight. Nothing quite like that near-instant numbness followed by that long slow sink deep into the couch... :)
    Btw I often blend fresh ginger directly into my kava. It improves the taste, and it deals with any nausea. I do it less for me (I'm a seasoned drinker, I don't love the taste but I'm over all that) than for those I introduce to kava, for whom these can be issues.

      Hi. Traditionally kava is made with just medium grind kava powder and water. Some people add a fat of some kind believing it enhances effects. I have never found that, but it certainly does no harm. Often people add coconut milk. I think you can get the same effect probably by nibbling on fatty foods, cashews, sausages, chips, etc.

    • @krnewman
      @krnewman  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aaron Williams you could, but imo would not be ideal. The whole point of a krunk prep is da krunk, and the really krunky KL’s are bunched up in the first 2 or 2.5 washes you do before the makas go in the freezer. Kneading would be a much better use of freezer makas. If you wanted a stronger effect with freezer makas just decrease your water ratio. IMO, but if you do any experiments let us know the results. Never know till you try.

    • @krnewman

      No, just plain water from the tap. There are some good techniques for making strong kava with warm or hot water but that increases the amount of starch released which can be viscous and not taste as good. This video is really more for people new to kava just trying to get past the reverse tolerance barrier, kickstart their body's kavalactone receptors.

The strainer I got in Canada where they call them tea strainer,, and even large ones are still called tea strainers. I was able to order the Special Variety Kalm from their website today. It is from Samoa. Is this the type you are using in the blender? It is stronger? I am brand new to this, and bought and prepared Kalm Loa Waka, the hard way, with an old sock, lol. You said they sell out, so I got a pound of it. I hope it's the right kind, as it was kinda pricey. Comments?

      Julie Cohen thanks for commenting. It is the same bag KwK uses for small quantity rare variety strains that it sells, but this stuff in the video is Damu, from Fiji and pretty strong balanced kava. I love the Samoan and recently posted a video review of it. You’re in for a treat. The loa waka is quite good, as well. Both are good for just relaxing and full krunk. They are pricey but all prices are high right now. I did videos on how to get the most grog from your grind by freezing and reusing the makas. I find that makes 3 - 6 times usual yield.

      krunkitude is when you feel a very pleasant kava effect, which can range from very mellow to outright brief euphoria, something you get when you drink very strong kava. I rarely enjoy kava this way but when I do, I really enjoy it. Mostly I just drink weak kava all day long. But every once in a while, it's nice to get krunk and listen to the kava.

      Mark Kent if that is your only consideration, then it would be VanuWAKA, sold by canopy botanicals. Be careful, though, as it is very strong, so you need less. Take it easy at first. Also, check my video on mongrel grog that shows how to increase the yield from your medium grind.

      @@krnewman Thanks for the quick reply. I have the Wakakon black bag now you can get on Amazon. Is that stuff useless?

    • @krnewman
      @krnewman  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mark Kent hell no, Wakacon Fijian Waka is perfectly acceptable kava and every acceptable kava is good kava. Prep it like the video above and the krunk is a solid one, nothing to sneeze at, very enjoyable. The price might be a little on the high side for what it is, but that’s another question. I especially like to drink it mixed half-and-half with Kava Tonga. The Tikaram’s Kava Tonga you can get on Amazon is fine for that. Makes it taste better and the krunk is a little heavier and smoother. I think that particular blended grog is greater than the sum of its parts.

    You are definitely the coolest guy over 50 on TH-cam. Have you ever tried kratom? It's a tree that grows in Asia and it is consumed in a way similar to kava, and has similar effects (sedation, analgesia). It is also much, much cheaper than kava and everyone I have ever given it to has enjoyed it. If you want a source to get high quality kratom let me know and I'll share my source.

    • @krnewman
      @krnewman  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Matt Wolowski 60, thanks. 😀 going through cancer treatments I needed a safe, cheap, effective non-narcotic alternative to pharmaceutical painkiller, for whatever was worse than either kava or CBD or both could handle. I’m glad I have kratom for that, though it is very rare I ever have any. I’ve been very lucky I haven’t often needed it, but I am very grateful I have that option. Kava takes care of me 98% or more. I get my mysteriosa from Canopy Botanicals, usually as samples when I buy kava and that’s really all I need. Love the flavors. I must be weird. But I really have kava for very different reasons, and don’t find the effects comparable. But as practical painkilling, Kava works for mild pain, kratom for bad pain.

My tongue and throat are definitely numb and I'm excited to see why so many people enjoy it. Also I only made the drink with two tablespoons of kava but that seems to be on the low end of the dosage spectrum, what amount would you recommend I use? Like what happens if you ingest too many kavalactones?

      @@maximus2994 This video is more about getting krunk than dealing with insomnia or physical pain. Kava is great for pain, but not for extreme pain. More like low end to medium. And it works for insomnia if you drink it every day for at least 6 months. Otherwise using it to treat a single night of insomnia is really hit or miss, and can backfire. Sometimes kava can keep you awake.
      Anyway, there are many good kava vendors in the US and Canada. Some I recommend (in no order) are Roots of Happness, Kalm with Kava, Bula Kava House, Kava Time, Fiji Fresh Kava, Squanch Kava, Canopy Botanicals, Tikaram's Kava, Guormet Hawaiian Kava, Kava Kauaii, The Kava Roots, The Kava Society of New Zealand, so many, really. If in doubt, check the vendor reviews on Kava Forums.
