I'm definitely getting this because I need downtime games like this when playing certain games gets intense and I need a break. A suggestion now that I'm playing the game, have L&R be the buttons to turn the pages in the notebook. It gets a little finicky pushing left&right on directional then up&down to select skills.
I love this game... I love just hearing the nature noises and no music. I always mute animal crossing cuz i get sick of the music!! I hope this game gets updates more quests etc even if i had to pay for big updates I would!!

Reminds me of A Short Hike. I'd like to see more of those relaxing stroll games come out. Love to express and find secrets with no rush to the game play and no looming threat of world domination, that way its much more realistic your character would even be searching for random collectibles.
I've never been an Animal Crossing fan however this little game has a delightful charm to it that kept my interest throughout the review. Every now and then, I need a calm and relaxing game to break up the massive collection of horror and adventure titles that are jammed onto my SD card. With such a low price, I may just be adding this one to my Wish List.

I really loved a short hike. I worry this game's deterministic level up and build a campsite system will just feel like a chore. Kinda takes away from the exploration. Maybe I'll try anyway
@@CaptainWumbo In my experience with it, you can take or leave the camp creation aspects. They certainly help in accumulating XP and skill points, but in the end even those don't matter. I enjoyed just walking around and finding all the places! The scenery is serene...ery 😉

Maybe what made a short hike neat for me was the dialogue and the gradual opening up of the island due to being able to fly higher or climb longer. I went to maybe 7 campsites and just felt bored, not enough visual interest. long story short just not enough heart or passion in this game, the creator kicked it out the door too early before he found an identity for it. Naturally it's just my opinion, happy for you if you liked it... it also put me off that I had to put food trucks and junk in every campsite until they look like landfills, or the game doesnt consider it complete. No way for me to tell whether or not it's needed for whatever story the game has

Thanks for a great review! It seems like the kind of game that can almost have a healing effect on you, when being under extreme stress. Animal Crossing was that game for me back when the COVID19 pandemic started. Haven Park seems to be an albeit shorter but equally soothing game experience at the current time. Thanks for putting it on my gaming radar and keep it up 🙂
I was curious about this one when I first saw it announced. I always like these chill sorts of games between the more hectic ones, the visuals are cute, and the levelling system is a plus for me. Despite the controls not being as tight as they could be, this is looking right up my alley, and with the price, it’s looking like a day one purchase. Thanks for the review.
Finished this game last night and it’s the best chill game I’ve played so far in a long while. I was so invested in the game and the conversations between the campers and Flint was super cute and funny.
Looks super chilled out. And for that price a nice point of entry. Think I'll be picking this up once I finish Skyward Sword HD (on the final boss, so soon!). I enjoyed Short Hike and AC, so looks my jam. 👍
As I get older with less free time, I find these bite size exploration/adventure games more to my liking. Does anybody have any recommendations on others besides this and A Short Hike? Edit: How about a top 10 video focusing on games of this nature.
also, keep an eye on a game called outer wilds. i played it on the ps4 and it's easily one of the best games i played in quite a while. the less you know, the better. it's coming to the switch in no time.
I think of it as: (A short hike): Breath of the Wild + Animal Crossing. (Haven Park): A short hike + the building aspect of Animal Crossing. Thats how i think of it.
That game is perfect right b4 going to bed or to play after a stressful action base game. i loved the mini " create ur own adventure" mini game! It reminded me of those books i read when i was a kid, i adooooored those. I wasnt expecting to like that game as much, i m not into cozy gaming that much, but i like this one.🐥🐤❤😊
I liked "A Short Hike" because it does not make players feel like they are obligated to do tasks. The player actually want to do the tasks in order to seek closure on the many NPCs requests, within their players' abilities ala the real world. I cannot say the same about "Haven Park" where players must grind for XP / SP to unlock new abilities from doing tasks just to keep NPCs happy like every other video games. "Haven Park" aims to be "A Short Hike" first, with "Animal Crossing" added on top.
After I watched this review I ran to the switch eshop to buy this cute Lil indie, only to find out it isn't out until the 5th! Ugh! I can't even pre order it! I hope it will be available at 0001 lol
When I first saw this I was terribly afraid we were going to have another Cozy Grove on our hands. But thanks to your review it doesn't appear to be. I am curious though. It seems for what minor issues there are, the score for this seems a bit harsh. Like it could have scored 1 or 2 points higher in some areas. But I guess an 83% overall isn't too bad. Maybe it's just me.

i recently played a game called alba: a wild adventure and i absolutely enjoyed my time with it. very relaxing and the main character is really sweet.
