Such a cool tasting! Must have been fun doing this. Added several of these to my list! Love Damilano, can't wait to try their 2016 Cannubi after also loving the Lecinquevigne. Need to drink more Produttori...my other favorites are Luigi Baudana and Giovanni Rosso as I most enjoy Serralunga
I went to Piemont 2 years ago and became a fan of Barbaresco. I was able to visit tenuta Cucco and their lineup is amazing! The highlight of the trip was tasting Rocche Dei Barbari just across the street from Produttori in Barbaresco town. But they only make direct sales. You just can't find them on shops.
I had that 2020 Ceretto Barbaresco about a month ago, and was thoroughly impressed. Just outstanding - and the rest of my family, who are not necessarily nebbiolo fans, also loved it.
@@drmatthewhorkey Yes! Not a bruiser - very refined and beautiful. I like the powerful, tannic ones, too, and am willing to hold them for a while, but this is one everyone could enjoy today.
Really love Piemonte, the landscape, the food and wine. But I really don't get the price point of Barolo and Barbaresco anymore. The quality does not match the price. But there are other great wines in the area and I will keep coming back to Piemonte and the areas around there (lake Como and the coastline in the south)
@@drmatthewhorkeyDefinitely, that's the "problem" 😊 but gonna pick up a few bottles of Produttori del Barbaresco 2019, it's only 37 USD here, which actually sounds good considering your thoughts of it 😊 Thank you for always delivering great content! Keep up the blind/semi blind tastings, they are very appropriated
Nice video. Always fun with the blind tastings and reveal. One of my favorite Nebbiolos and one I dare you to try is from Roero. It is the Matteo Correggio Roche d’Ampsej Riserva at around 40 €. It is a beautiful wine made in sandy soils so it is more soft and early drinkable than most Barolos.
@@drmatthewhorkey Yeap that's why I bought it but then I came across Konstantin's video where he reviewed it a few months ago and said it is still young and should wait for another 5 years
Excellent and fun video. I'm a bit of a Neb head but they are expensive. I'm dabbling with wine from all over Italy at the moment and there are some great value options if you have a good guide/retailer.
This is a great video, I've had a few Nebbiolos, but I'm far from being an expert on them. To know that you struggle to tell the difference between Barolo and Barbaresco tells me that for food pairings they're probably interchangable.
Whenever I'm able to drink a bottle of Barolo or Barbaresco, I think: "I could live off of that thing and dispense with food for the rest of my life". I love it, and I have one from 2018 (Paolo Scavino) in my cellar, and thanks for the tip...I won't be storing it for long.
At our wine club we tasted the 2018 Pio Cesare Barolo and Barbaresco at the same time and they tasted extremely similar though the Barolo was a bit more weighty and also had a lot longer aftertaste. Though I have to say that 2019 Produttori easily beats both of those Pio Cesare wines while also being more affordable.
I really wish once more it would be easier to find and source them in France.... I have tried online wine shops... but once again 3 cases ordered 3 broken ...
you mentioned a tasting club/group in this vid - might be interesting to know how u set it up and do it - who is in the group and why - how serious or not serious you are - the frequency of meetings - how do pay for the wines - is best to invest in a Coravin so you don't drink it all, or do you drink it all!! - how many people are to few or to many - etc.....a primer video for folks - thanks!

Love your passion for the red fruit, super aromatic elegant varietals. Great work! 🍇
Thank you! I love red fruit flavors, esp sour cherry!
You do a great job. Love this stuff. Very educational

Damilano is a stellar producer indeed!
love nebbiolo when it's done right, my favorite producer is cappellano
Big time taste!

It is a friendly version of this TOUGH grape variety!

I love the appellation and the producer
Great exercise! Always difficult to distinguish between these two great wines. Sounds like you had some winners there.
Ahhhh thanks
Love Nebbiolo! Just had a bottle of the 2018 Pio Cesare Barolo the other night! The Produttori del Barbaresco is also one of my favorites.
Both are great!
Got a bottle of 2018 produttori del barbaresco waiting to be open when I get a job offer. Can't wait any longer......
2018 is an approachable vintage that probably should be drunk younger
@@drmatthewhorkey Yeap that's why I bought it but then I came across Konstantin's video where he reviewed it a few months ago and said it is still young and should wait for another 5 years
I have a magnum here waiting as well. Love the producer. I think I'll give it no more than 2 years
Hope you got the offer and cracked it open!

Yes! I do have a Value Piemontese RED WINE video coming out soon (for those that don't want to pay for Barolo anymore)
I love aromatic Nebbiolos. The perfume is like nothing else!
The aromas can be haunting for sure
Big bold reds are my favorite. Good video always enjoy your excitement.😉

They are definitely interchangeable with food!
Produttori are hard to beat....already bought my 2019 mixed case. Since burgundy become a true madness....my heart went to Piedmont
Ohhhh good call by you
Most perfume n silky wine I’ve tasted . Definitely need to stock up more b4 price go crazy .particular like the barolo 19 over the 16 !
Ohhh that's a hot take!
Love nebiollo and all things Pietmonte. Unfortunately budget does not allow me to try many but Guilia Negri is a favourite producer.
This a great video! I learned quite a bit. I’d love to see a similar one for Sangiovese or any other grapes you think are interesting

It is a group of collectors I was invited to, everyone brings serious wine from collection, wines tasted blind
nobody knows what are the difference between these two, even Piedmontese😅
Hahahah I often hear people quote that "Barbaresco is more feminine" only to later get them confused in a blind tasting...
@@drmatthewhorkey its all about single vineyards, both have vineyards that are “feminine” and vineyards that are “bombastic” I fan of more feminine style style myself. regardless of what are they classified as😄
It's a funny variety; I remember one Barolo from a super hot vintage, that smelled and tasted of Mandarin oranges w/ very soft tannins. Odd!
I do often get some orange peel-like flavors with Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, and Syrah

Glad you like it!
I actually had the Produttori del Barbaresco in Piedmont! La Badessa restaurant in Torino.
Niccccee, it's a classic
also what kind of dr are you`? just curious
Chiropractor was in private practice from 2009-2015
For me, there may be no better wine I’ve ever had under $50 than the Produttori del Barbaresco.
It’s a fantastic wine for sure
Life hack, open a young Barolo a week before drinking and be blown away.
they do need air!
❤❤❤

People say Napa is overpriced and overrated and i agree, but Barolo is right there with it.
There are deals to be had but it's getting harder and harder!
